All my life I had a mother like this and I never knew it was abuse until I moved out and I noticed that my self esteem improved considerably, I wan't depressed anymore I felt confident for once. looking back I realize I experienced abuse the majority of my life. I'm just glad to be out of it but at the same time it saddens me to see that there is no recourse for kids in this situation because this type of abuse doesn't leave any bruises or scars. If you work save up your money and move out. ASAP

I tried many times to commit suicide (from 9 yrs to 21yrs old) Finally after some counseling, of course moving out at 18 (I didn't even bother finishing my senior year, I was 2 months away from graduation) and putting my foot down with her a bit, she got alittle better. I adore my eldest (of couse my other babies 4 and 1, lol) who is 13 now and treat him as a person nd not an object to be pushed around. A message to my young brothers and sisters on here is to STOP THE CYCLE when you have your own kids, get counseling, get away from the abuse, you are SOMEBODY WHO DESERVES LOVE, and suround yourself with positive people and be HAPPY :-) It's hard to heal but YOU WILL!

This brought back so many unpleasant memories. I had a terrible flashback listening to this, myself having been raised in an emotionally abusive/dysfunctional home. I remember locking my abusive parent out of my room one night when I, too, was demanded to loan my personal money. I was crying, so scared. This isn't right. I'm glad this video came to light; now more than ever I'm realizing i'm not alone in what happened to me (and still happens to me as an adult child of emotional abuse).

i applaud this kid for his patience, but quite honestly, after a while you become so used to being yelled at, you dont bother retaliate. you just sit there, keep doing whatever you were doing prior to the yelling and when its done and over with, you continue doing whatever you were doing.
I feel bad for this kid. I also have an abusive mother, who drinks quite a bit. She is not as bad as this kids mother, but she is still a burden on my mind. I hope this kid's situation improved, and he was able to get away from that abuse.

Normally I wouldn't agree with government intervention, but I think you may be right. Perhaps it is time for such an extreme measure. Or at least some type of education before becoming a parent.
For you children who see your own mother in this woman it is likely that your mother has a Borderline Personality Disorder. There is a good book on the subject: Surviving a Borderline Parent. Remember: IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT.

My mother did this at least once a week. She called me: fat, ugly, stupid, worthless, lazy, etc. whenever she was having a bad day. Eventually I got counseling, which helps btw, if you're dealing with a parent like this! I tried everything with her: lashing out, ignoring her, giving in, reasoning with her_ nothing worked. I cut ties with her 2 years ago, we don't talk or see each other. Best thing I ever did. There is no price for the peace I have when I come home everyday.
Also; she does not trust me or help me and blames me for everything! Everybody in my family helps me and cheers me up; but this **** never does. She just complains and rather cries about a torn wall then me being thrown into the fire! WTF! I hate my mom man. I can not take it anymore! If adults want respect they should show some respect to their kids first. This is very severe emotional abuse and it's little surprise why some kids end up with problems themselves later on. This kind of abuse is much worse even than physical abuse and it is nearly always directed towards sensitive children that have a giving and kind nature. I say best thing is to emotionally distance oneself and keep clear, otherwise the person abused risks much damage to self esteem & mental health.

My heart breaks for this kid. I as well suffered physical and emotion abuse from my mom. This is exactly how she acted. Because of her, i will have to see a therapist and be on anti-depressants for the rest of my life. My mother is a Histrionic Personality and this was my home life. The scariest thing about it is that they become experts at showing the outside world one thing, and showing those close to them something completely different. All the while manipulating people for their sympathy.

She was so good at it that her friends thought she was a saint. When I was a kid I tried to get help for my situation by telling her friends how she abused us kids, hoping they could do something about it. But instead they would say, "what are you talking about? Your mother is so nice!"
My mom was the same way.. I used to sit in my room and ask under my breath if she was done yet also... But we fist fought at that point .. She would always go to far and it would get bad... She was a slut and drunk and now I'm 27 and I never speak to her.. She still hasn't changed .. I now have a son and I love him so much and never will speak to him like she has done me!!

My parents (mother) kicked me out of the house multiple times when I was 15-17. The last time they kicked me out (shortly after I turned 18) I left and never came back. It's been over 5 years and I don't regret it at all. I've not seen or spoken to them in all this time, I even live in a different state. I hope they die cold and alone.

Now I live with my dad who doesn't give a rats ass about me and my stepmom who hates me. My plan is when I move out, will probably break off all contact. She has sent letters to family members just days before my son's 2nd birthday spewing hate and trying to drive wedges in relationships. Just evil.

Dont be afraid to stand up to abusers. They'll continue to keep abusing no matter what you do - you might as well take care of yourself.

THis is what happens in abusive families, somebody defends the abuser and tells the victim to just shut up and deal with it so the abuser somehow wont keep abusing but it never works. This kid needs to run run run and get some good therapy so he doesnt end up getting taken by others or marrying a woman like her, because you know this has probably been going on his whole life. When the victim stands up to her the abuser gets worse.

You will NEVER understand what this is like until you have had a mother like this, and lived in this type of situation. I can't remember the last time in the last decade where I have even felt remotely safe or happy at home, and I just turned 17 this month. I finally got kicked out for being 3 minutes late coming home at 8:00 on a Friday. Now I'm going to have to go back and put up with being the family scapegoat so that I can be there for my sister, who is stuck there because her dad died.

i applaud this kid for his patience, but quite honestly, after a while you become so used to being yelled at, you dont bother retaliate. you just sit there, keep doing whatever you were doing prior to the yelling and when its done and over with, you continue doing whatever you were doing.

I feel bad for this kid. I also have an abusive mother, who drinks quite a bit. She is not as bad as this kids mother, but she is still a burden on my mind. I hope this kid's situation improved, and he was able to get away from that abuse.

My mother did this at least once a week. She called me: fat, ugly, stupid, worthless, lazy, etc. whenever she was having a bad day. Eventually I got counseling, which helps btw, if you're dealing with a parent like this! I tried everything with her: lashing out, ignoring her, giving in, reasoning with her_ nothing worked. I cut ties with her 2 years ago, we don't talk or see each other. Best thing I ever did. There is no price for the peace I have when I come home everyday.

Apart from that, he surely sounds a friendlier person than his mother. And hearing this woman brought very sad memories to my mind. If adults want respect they should show some respect to their kids first. This is very severe emotional abuse and it's little surprise why some kids end up with problems themselves later on. This kind of abuse is much worse even than physical abuse and it is nearly always directed towards sensitive children that have a giving and kind nature. I say best thing is to emotionally distance oneself and keep clear, otherwise the person abused risks much damage to self esteem & mental health.

My heart breaks for this kid. I as well suffered physical and emotion abuse from my mom. This is exactly how she acted. Because of her, i will have to see a therapist and be on anti-depressants for the rest of my life. I do not have children, but i would NEVER tell them 'shoo themselves' I really hope this kid gets some help. I feel so much for him. Take care of yourself and be safe!

My mother is a Histrionic Personality and this was my home life. The scariest thing about it is that they become experts at showing the outside world one thing, and showing those close to them something completely different. All the while manipulating people for their sympathy.

She was so good at it that her friends thought she was a saint. When I was a kid I tried to get help for my situation by telling her friends how she abused us kids, hoping they could do something about it. But instead they would say, "what are you talking about? Your mother is so nice!"

She was a slut and drunk and now I'm 27 and I never speak to her.. She still hasn't changed .. I now have a son and I love him so much and never will speak to him like she has done me!!

My parents (mother) kicked me out of the house multiple times when I was 15-17. The last time they kicked me out (shortly after I turned 18) I left and never came back. It's been over 5 years and I don't regret it at all. I've not seen or spoken to them in all this time, I even live in a different state. I hope they die cold and alone.

My mom would scream like this when I was growing up. We no longer have a relationship and it was one of the most positive decisions I've made in my life. She has sent letters to family members just days before my son's 2nd birthday spewing hate and trying to drive wedges in relationships. Just evil.

My mother is mental herself. She normally doesnt yell this band but she does alot of stuff behind my back - manipulation adn control. When I finally stood up to her manipulations and lies, she attacked me, wrote nastly letters to me, tells stories to others who dont know me telling me I need professional help etc etc. Spreading gossip about me to others. THis is what happens in abusive families, somebody defends the abuser and tells the victim to just shut up and deal with it so the abuser somehow wont keep abusing but it never works. This kid needs to run run run and get some good therapy so he doesnt end up getting taken by others or marrying a woman like her, because you know this has probably been going on his whole life. When the victim stands up to her the abuser gets worse.
