Don't underestimate this guy. I've met him and he let me handle THIS Strat. The heaviest gauge strings I ever felt in my life. I could play them if I had a pair of Craftsman pliers? That's how he gets the sound.
@Grouchomx I always considered Garnet his own artist. Though he occasionally does music that his brother did, he does it very sparingly. It seems to me that living in his brother's shadow perhaps made him turn toward emphasizing his own music. His albums are very different from Stan's. You may not care for his music, but he's not trying to be Stan. So, to my way of thinking, it's unfair to think of him as Stan-lite.
@Grouchomx Maybe when he's singing Stan's songs but Garnet is very unique in his own way. Incredible imagery in his writing. An incredibly powerful and/or soothing voice. Amazing guitar and fiddle player. It must suck for him and Nathan, both incredibly talented people, to constantly be compared to Stan. That family was blessed with talent.
Yeah, his fiddling was so smoothe. I don't know if you'd heard or not, but his fiddling days are no more due to a car accident a year or two ago. 8^( He says he just can't get his elbow positioned properly anymore.
One of the most expressive baritone voices in the genre of folk music!

Wasn't quite set, at first, on whether I liked Garnett's interpretation...but I grows on one and now I really enjoy his version as well.

Sorry, but I'll always consider Garnet "Stan-lite".

Thank you so much for posting this. Garnet's records are great, but nothing like seeing him in concert. Especially singing Northwest Passage.
