  • Wow, great recording, I never knew it was her hit. I know it by Billie Holiday and it is great as well!

  • Some far off day,on that great theatre stage in the sky.....I imagine Barbra meeting Fanny ,with Barbra saying,Hello Gorgeous! and Fanny saying,Back at ya kid !

  • Thank you for posting the photos ! Alot of folks know little of the real -Funny Girl-Gotta say,the complete My Man is a downer I think . Nowadays we would tell a woman with such blind devotion to her man to leave the bum and get some help before he really hurts her .

  • There is a slight resemblance with Streisand. However Barbara has passed the age now that Fanny died thankfully.

  • Just wonderful! God bless you Fanny and thank you for everything!

  • Talented woman!

  • Comparing Barbra (not Barbara by the way) singing My Man to Fanny's version is pointless. Different eras different styles, different artists. Both are wonderful in their own way.

  • the resemblance is so surreal......"kismet"........fannny.......and then along came babs

  • years and years ago my Mom was in a restaurant in NYC and Fanny Brice and Billy Rose (married at the time) walked in.

He was a short funny looking guy with big ears and a big nose.

When they picked James Caan to play him in Funny Ladymy said said "Boy were they being kind" *LOL*

  • Ive heard-it was Robert Blake who was first up for the part of Billy Rose, but he bit of an attitude that truly put Barbra Striesand that he lost out .

  • Thanks so much for this! What a lovely woman, and versatile performer!

  • As much as I like Barbara, Fanny's original, as most are is superior. First heard this song in a late 40's movie with Tyone Power can't remember the name. Any ideas.

  • Thanks for the info !!

I guess Edith Piaf must have recorded Mon Homme ..sometime in her carrer.....

I've heard argentinian diva Nacha Guevara singing Mi Hombre (Mon Homme) spanish version closest to the original....but there's no video for that one in youtube

  • Notice, How Streisand NEVER sings the lines that go: He isn't true, he beats me too, what can I do....

Does anyone know ,where can I hear or watch a video for the original Mon Homme..???? by any artist

  • You want the original "french" Mon Homme? You'd probably have to find Mistinguett (the original artist) or some other french artist - I have never found a copy myself, now that I think of it.

  • I have my man by mistinguett-ill post it under her name.

  • Excellent - I look forward to hearing and seeing that.

  • Oh yes she does! In the movie, Funny Girl, and on her album titled My Man -- just listen a little better.

  • Thanks this is a great video. If you like visit my website, the life and time of fanny brice. brice. nl I am the owner of the autograph at the end of this video, signet by fanny in 1932 Nebreska Brandeis th jan 15. Again this film is great thanks. Wim Sminia, the Netherlands. All the best.

  • So glad you found this - yes, I did find some of the pix at your website, and some on the Internet, and many purchased from eBay; or donated by Scott Margolin - a huge fan of Fanny and somewhat of an expert.

  • Best lowlights. thanks for writing me. Be proud with this video, i'ts great !. For over 38 years i collecting everthing about Fanny. My best regards, wim.

  • What a shame to civilization that she never appeared on stage or film with Marie Dressler, another superstar who was not "pretty." It would be fascinating to have seen them do their schticks together.

  • That was awesome - I never heard her version, the original - just Peggy Lee & Barbra Streisand's, always loved theirs - she really must've been something - thanks!

  • A delight from start to finish! Thank you ... and good luck with the CD.

  • My parents always said Brice was tremendous....I can see why Bardra did the Film...Thanks for the glimps back in time!!!!

  • I also remember hearing her as Baby Snooks and then Streisand did Funny Girl/Funny Lady. I have all of her 78rpm records and they are wonderful (and rare). This is an extraordinary compilation of beautiful photos of Brice set against her wonderful vocal of "My Man". Thanks so much....

  • You'll be happy to hear that Jasmine Records is putting out a CD of her 78s; I co-produced it with a friend who collected these 78s (Columbia and Victor) and some rare radio broadcasts and her Capitol Records recordings as Snooks. Some time this year, that puppy comes out.

  • Very nice. Thank you.

  • thx so much for this...i can now see why streisand was the new brice..the similarities are numerous

  • Rex...That is an outstanding video essay about Fanny Brice. I remember listening to her as a kid when she was Baby Snooks.

  • Thanks. A tad forgotten today, she was such a huge star in her day - first with the Follies and then later on radio. Sadly, she didn't record more records; she actually had a great voice for melancholy tunes.
