Hi, actually they are completey different having been designed and prepared by RML exclusively for Chevrolet.

Yes still front wheel drive, with a 6 speed sequential gearbox
that is amazing how this is a FWD car and competes with RWD BMWs, and wins!
@keviiinn RWD for touring cars is obsolete. 2.0L or 250hp and below, FWD is more efficient in getting power to the ground. FWD is the thing now for touring car racing.
