Actually this would have sounded interesting in some aspects as a remake (at least the stuff they mentioned in the beginnning) if it was real, but the idea of Kong's son running around with machine guns on his shoulders and fighting monsters from Nazi experiments and that sequel title would have been absolutely idiotic yet hilarious. I love this though. It actually feels at first that they would do something like this and they have a nice sense of humor to mock sequel ideas.

I'm glad he's not doing a sequel. The 2005 remake is perfect as it is. How many remakes can proudly say they've won a few Academy Awards? Few, if any.

Peter Jackson a great director and a smart one at that. He knows when its time to make a sequel and when its time to move on to other projects. I don't think Son of Kong might have the same effect today as it did in 1933 anyway.

I was really disappointed when I found out that all of this was fake. Back in 05 I bought the King Kong Production Diaries on this huge boxset that was released and was so excited about Son of Kong. But I quickly realized that it was fake.

1. Son of Kong was to be released seven months after the first one, and "Into the Wolf's Lair" was to be released Six months after Son of Kong, and it takes about 2 years to make a big movie

2. The production day was Day #123. (Get it, 1-2-3).

I think Peter Jackson & Co. would be blowing it big time if they can't, or do not choose to use some variation of the wonderful Max Steiner soundtrack from the original "Son," including especially the great period piece "Runaway Blues." If there is any song or movie soundtrack that perfectly evoked the ere of tramp steamers and a "bring 'em back alive" frank buck and richard haliburton romantic adventure depicted so well in the original movies, this soundtrack was the one.

Jackson's remake soundtrack for his version of King Kong was one of that movie's weak spots, along with (what I consider) the miscasting of comedian Jack Black in Robert Armstrong's rogue adventurer role.
