I know nothing about Kevin Chalfont--who he is, what he did besides Journey. When and for how long did he front them? What's the concesus on his performance? People are loud & clear about all the others, but not a word about him.
This is far from his best. We saw Steve Augeri lead Journey in concert a few years ago, and we were absolutely dazzled. For two hours straight, he belted out one complex Journey song after another, hitting and sustaining every note spot on. He got one or two standing ovations in our arena setting, as well. We've never forgotten it - one of the best concert experiences of my life, and I've seen hundreds. (And, unlike some Perry clips here, he didn't drop any lyrics.) Hope he's doing well!
You cannot replace Steve Perry sorry it's just not possible he has a natural rasp with a 5 octave soprano range & POWER that NOBODY has been able to reproduce to date Augeri is a good attempt but it's just that an attempt!
yeah, Augeri had his own unique style with a knack for sounding like Perry, but only a little bit.
i think Neal Schon was looking for a Perry voice clone who could handle all of the old stuff, and Augeri did a good job for a while...until his voice gave out on him.
i think Journey needs to take a serious break and rest, before Arnel gets completely worn out within 5 years.
i can't wait for Steve Perry's new stuff, which should be out pretty soon.
You assume I was insulting Steve A.! No, you would be quite wrong. I loved Steve A. I felt terrible when I read this. I felt embarrased, not only for this great singer, but for Journey as one of my favorite bands. I have been a huge fan of Journey since day one! As a muscian, having the honor of meeting Journey and speaking with them was something I will never forget! Neal Schon was a huge, huge influence on my playing as well! Also, Frank Marino, from CANADA! Why so angry at me? Wow!
Augeri had a better personality than Perry. He's much more approachable. Perry would just get in a limo and leave before the drummer had hit the final beat of the final song.
Read my comment, only out of respect for the many, many Canadian bands that I love, as well as Steve A. Oh yes, Jeff Scott Soto no matter what band he was in ROCKED HARD! One of the most underated rock singer's EVER! And with Journey! OMG, he ruled! Anyway, only out of respect, for these reasons did I respond to your immature attack on me! Your 40 year's old? Wow friend Buttmunch? How about Bevisboy? Thanks for the insult! You insulted me and every thing muscially we both love!Peace
My mistake!Beavisboy?T P for my Bunghole! Are you ttttttthreatening me?huhuhuhuhuYes i am 40!Been a long time Journey fan!Just tired of the schon games! He should have picked HUGO!
Oh yea, Pat Travers another Canadian! Dude, he rules!!! Hugo? Let me know who that is? Your gonna love Marino! Whoa!!! Bevisboy, uh I mean billiee boy LOL ;o) I made a new "Tube" friend I think? Fucking SOTO Rules! Dude, were is he what's he doin'?

Augeri just doesn't have the fever that Perry has. He has a nice voice but it's just that. there is no passion at all.

Steve Perry was Journey's frontman. Steve Augeri was Journey's frontman. Arnel Pineda is Journey's frontman.
They all sing fantastically, and their achievements have all helped form the greatest Rock n' Roll band in recorded history.
Who cares who is better? Journey's the best of them all.

It is hard to perfect the Perry pitch! They don't call Steve Perry's voice the wrecking ball for nothing.

Steve Augeri is my favorite Journey vocalist. I love his tone and the way he articulates his lyrics.

Pat Travers & Frank Marion & Mahogony Rush both rocked! Saw them both (PT a couple times).
Journey has had a LOT of lineups. Hell, they started out proggish & I was bummed when they went commercial, but they ended up with a real good thing.
