I loved this ending scene. Usually what's said is the memorable part of the end of a movie. Here it is the unsaid that is memorable. I thought it was genius!
I love this scene. I think I've watched it 40 to 50 times over the years. Over and over....I'm kind of mesmerized by this final scene. If you watch carefully, it's a single shot....no edits...which is very unusual in any film. Great stuff...and gets me in the mood for some of this breakfast Frittata.
My favorite movie scene of all time. So perfect. The movements, the timing the emotion...pure perfection! Many years after I saw this film I had the pleasure of being able to share with Stanley Tucci my great gratitude for having witnessed such a supreme scene. It was so wonderful to be able to thank someone who had been involved in the co-creation of such a masterpiece. Thanks for posting this gem.
ha.......everytime I watch this movie I can't get over the copper hanging! Slowly and surely,,,,someday I'll have it all!!!!!! (insert evil laugh here)

I think is the only film i have seen alone in a cinema. It's one of my favourites. I agree with some comments, it's amazing so many people likes this scene.
definately need to see the whole movie. Immigrant brothers own a rest. that is struggling. An aquaintance/competitor tells them the brothers that he can invite someone to the restaurant (celebrity) that will help them bring in customers, hence....."the big night".
I remembered this scene for 14 years without ever seeing it again. And I've told many people about how special it is. Awesome to find it again on YouTube, thanks.
They need to re-release this movie. It was soo ahead of it's time! People now can appreciate it more with the Foodnetwork craze. I loved this movie when it first came out, I love it more now!
Stanley Tucci is one of the great actors of our times...my wife and I love this film and as has been said...this scene is perfect, even if the night wasn't...he kicked it up another notch in 'Julie/Julia' as Paul Child
To echo the comments made by many here, this is a beautiful ending to this film. Hardly any words spoken. And in spite of all the failures of the night before, the understated love of these two brothers exists in a simple meal of eggs and Italian bread. I get misty and hungry just watching it. Thanks for posting!
My mother, and I, see this scene as the most Italian thing in movies. Two brothers, conflicted, but in the end, brothers. Feeling the feeling of blood on blood beyond any other worldly conflict, over a simple meal of eggs and bread. I know the cousin i would embrace over that meal...and the oil and eggs and seasonings I would use. It's an Italian familial love.
This is, strangely, one of my very favorite movie scenes of any film. It serves as the antidote to the entire fim's drama and the mania of the big night itself. And then, there's something timeless in the simplicity of an omellete served with crusty bread.
Such a gem of a movie--visually stunning (who isn't drooling during the dinner scene?), plus wonderful acting from both Tony & Stanley. Also, has a great ensemble cast--even a cool soundtrack. Mark Anthony is terrific, even though he only has like 2 lines. Anyone who hasn't seen it should do so right away!!!
I'm Irish, but I love this filem because I love food and I love this scene particularly, because I love my brother and this scene sums it up perfectly. Also, I always use olive oil for eggs, instead of butter.
I recommended this movie to my friend when it first came out (1996) and he said it was the dumbest movie he ever saw..He said the ending sucked...I was like WTF are you talking about this was a great movie. I'm so glad there is a following for this movie..I thought I was weird for liking it so much.
One of the most amazing things about this scene is that it was shot as one scene in one take!! No breaks frtom beginning to end. The name of the song at beginning and end is "Stornelli Amorisi" sung by the late, great Claudio Villa. I have been unable to find a recording anywhere but on the soundtrack for "Big Night."
I particularly love the piece of music played over the credit roll at the end, following this scene, and would love to know its name.Does anyone know?
Amazing how far that omelette goes around!(count the eggs)
Im so happy there are so many people who loves this scene. This is my favorite ending and makes me cry every time I watch it. Thanks for posting. Super awesome.
Only Italians use olive oil to make scrambled eggs!!! My grandmother from Naples said Americans use butter for everything. Great food movie. Thanks Louie Prima where ever you are...
I love this scene. Mi fa piangere. This is the way it should be -- brothers fight, they are angry with each other -- but it ends with them sitting down to the same table to eat.
What's more, he somehow KNEW his brother would return, and makes him a portion of la frittata as well.
please, please, someone do true quality film lovers a favor and post all of it... people should see the angry glory that is ian holm's pascal and the lemon-suckered car dealer that is campbell scott. i am begging someone, post it all.
...This final scene brought me to tears... it's right up there with the final scene in The Deer Hunter... sometimes there is tremendous power in understatement... this is like poetry...
Incredible. Easily one of the best of all time.

Simply amazing. If only more directors would realize the effect that such minimalism can have. One of the greatest scenes in movie history.
