It's an hommage to the "Woman of Shanghai" by Orson Welles, I suppose. It may also allude to the books and films of Marguerite Duras - "India Song" and "L'amant", for example. Blue flower, of course, is taken from the classic novel "Heinrich von Ofterdingen" by Novalis.

I'm a Lynch fan but I think this really falls short. Since he is now working on his music album, it's like as if whatever he comes up now we are like dying to watch it and to "like it". No, we are all humans, and so is Lynch. He needs plenty of TIME and planning to come up with a masterpiece, not something random out of nowhere. Well I can't force myself to like this. I just can't. I've seen the better of him.

Too ppl who don't like this^^ movie, ofc you have entirely right to thing like that. But I guess you have pattern in yours brains named David Lynch and everything what Mr. Lynch make you try compare to pattern in your mind. I ask you to try look at this from another point of view through his sensitivity and vision. This is not an order^^

@tomtong1969 Meybe You saying this becouse You don't knowe what Ikonosfer is. In my opinoin it is not repeating but building Ikonosfer. I recomend to read about modern painting. No offense^^

@000nuckinfuts000 It really had an atmosphere and some mystical story going on and personally I liked the feelings it triggered in me.

But It was like mystical only for being mystical and a bigger budget to have a better production value would have been nice.

It's really like a painting in motion picture and the blue rose is a nce recurring image for Lynch.
