  • the ringing is annoting

or is it just my computer doing that but it was allright when i was watching YYZ by RUSH

  • +2000 likes vs 60 dislikes. It's a sad but inevitable fact that there will be people who actually think that Land of Confusion is best performed by someone other than Genesis. Poor delusional souls.

    AWESOME MUSIC VIDEO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • God this is fucking horrible. How could such a great band have gotten so bad

  • Is it just me or does the lead singer resemble saw.

  • Awesome... oh, and screw disturbed.

  • disturbeds cover is 100x better than this shitty thing

  • @hhhsmackdown3 there both great

  • How high where the guys who made this!?

  • @CetwinBrothers If they wouldve been high this video wouldve made no sense at all, however it does, it's all symbolism and parodies of the 60's

  • i am only 14 and all i listen to is 80's music. my five favorite bands of the eighties are: Genesis, The Bangles, Duran Duran, A-ha, Men at Work.

  • one of the most ass kicking songs to come out of the 80's

  • This is creepy as hell...

  • The Guy ar the beginning is Reagan. All the puppets in the video were world leaders or celebrities of their time.

  • Isn't it sad that a song from 1986 is more relevant today than ever? :/

  • This video is older than me, but funny as hell!

  • I totally just gor this video!!! With out reading the description...It is so funny as I am much older than I was when I saw it originally. I feel it is implying the controversies of America at the time. Hmm How interesting!!!

  • I saw this 20 some years ago, it's still the weirdest damndest thing i've ever seen......

  • LMAO looks like ppl i met in Georgia. ALL OF THEM

  • **That's YOU!!!!** all you!!!

  • I would love to have a digital version of the 8min 12" edition of "Land of Confusion" - I have it on LP but it's well worn! Does anyone know what i'm talking about?

  • 3:28 2001: A Space Odyssey

  • creepy ass puppets

  • i liked both versions, but i personally like the disturbed cover better :P.

  • Fuck that shit.

  • goody two shoes

  • disturbed cover was better

  • 2:50

  • Jesus fuck that phil collins doll is fucking creepy.

Then again, he is creepy looking too

  • I've seen this video a thousand times and this was the first time I noticed that after the line "my generation will put it right", they cut to a Pete Townsend puppet. Honestly one of the most satirical and thought-provoking videos I have ever seen. Thanks for the upload, man!

  • the old guy kinda looks like regan who agrees i mean come on!

  • @thejoeking97 That's the idea, the puppets were from the same people that did a show called Spitting Image in the 80s

  • @thejoeking97 thats who its supposed to represent dipshit

  • @raiderguy72 regan smash!!!!!!Tear down your comment Mr. raiderguy72

  • @thejoeking97 hahahaha

  • This is a weird-ass video but the song still kicks ass

  • This video scared the living hell out of my three year old self. I ran out of the room every time this came on. Had an incident at a store in the mall when this came on. I freaking adore the song, but the video still creeps me the hell out.

  • @Clownblood I was 2 years older than you, and it still gave me nightmares! As an adult, I'm much more able to appreciate it, though.

    Puppets are fucking scary!

  • What a great freakin song!!!! Such a clasic

  • just watched Disturbed version, good sound,..but I must say this is the better vid. Hensen ftw

  • Comment removed

  • drugs are bad mmmk

  • @iixSMASHxii Hahaha!

  • Phil Collins is an ugly-ass puppet. This video really cracked me up when I first watched it in 1986. AND it still does to this day! Ha ha ha

    GENESIS RULZ!

  • So Genesis covered this Disturbed song? That's gay hahaha

  • @Zimri52 Nope. Other way around.

  • @Zimri52 other way around

  • @Zimri52 hahahahahaha yeah....thats funny

  • Is this Jim Henson's puppets?

  • 4:19 Stephen King?! =D I hope so

  • is that prince eating his own tounge, or is it just a puppet?

  • now i listen to so many metal bands, but ya know the oldies are way better

  • @metalcult32 no way one is better than the other. two different types of music. you might as well compare apples to t-bones. im a metal guitarist, but have gotten alot of influence from bands like genisis and dire straits and so on. Rock on!

  • Oh yes... the Spitting Image puppets... :-) I especially remember "Ronald Reagan" kissing the chimp, and the "oh oh" look at the end...

  • haha i remember when this video came out..wow

  • @HuckeysWorld Like nostalgia ain't it? :)

  • @cclcdlcel indeed

  • here's my two cents: Disturbed bent Phil Collons over when they redid this song

  • Man, I remember the first time I ever watched this music video. It was on my dad's 80's music video vcr tape and I had nightmares for weeks! But I do love this song anyways, This is a classic,. I don't care for Disturbs do over.

  • did i just see mussolini!!!???

  • I don't think this would make sense to anyone other than those who lived in that time period...

  • frankly i kinda liked disturbeds cover.

but this version, and this video, are just plain legendary for me.

  • I can't even get myself to click on the cover version. A band called disturbed, it already sounds bad, I can't even imagine how they butchered this masterpiece.

  • @jmurdera please don't insult disturbed, I think disturbed cover this song really well. I'm just saying that don't talk shit about them when you don't even watch their cover.

  • @JDMETAL123456789 You know what. Your absolutely right. It's not fair for me to do that, especially since I haven't heard it. It's a judgement I made based on the fact that i've heard countless covers that (I feel) ruin songs by just using the lyrics that took time, effort and emotion to create and yell them with some generic instrumental backround sound.

  • @jmurdera you're a nice person :)

  • @jmurdera You saying the cover version is bad because of the name of the band? You judging a book by it's cover. Wow, you're an idiot. Disturbed is one of the best mainstream rock bands out there today. Know your shit before you type such nonsense.

  • @IvanCane Disturbed hasnt been relevant in like 5 years lol

  • 4:29 Hey, I think I found Michael Jackson in there!

  • I can't believe Ronald Reagan agreed to appear in this.

  • That's one heck of a nurse!

  • Phil effin belts it out in this song

  • This video is as deep as it gets

  • This scared me as a kid...

  • this is fucked up o.0

  • I'm gonna have nightmares for a month now!

  • im 13 and i believe that genesis rocks for creating the song and disturbed rocks for re-making it so well*DON'T JUDGE ME!*

  • 4:35 W T F ???

  • 2:32 Looks like Mr. Bean XD

  • JESUS SAVES.

  • what was the name of that tv show that they used the puppets like the one in this video??

  • @yogaman1919

    Spitting Image

  • " I must have dreamed a thousand dreams, been haunted by a million screams." I think these lyrics describe a man who described his life over a 1,000 day time, who somehow received a million screams during these days. This man is clearly troubled because he remembers every dream during these days. Crazy. I think these lyrics directly describe Kareem Abdul Jabbar's run toward the scoring title in 1988.

  • Orig version and still better :P

  • this video used to freak me out when i was a kid haha...but i love it.

  • HOLY SHIT I HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS A COVER !!!

Yeah I've been listening to the Disturbed version for a few years, but this one's pretty awesome too ^_^

  • my first child born in 88......this song is in my head until I die.

    GO Phil.

  • everytime I see this video I notice something different, the bondage gear on the dinosaur mount of Reagan's, the gas masked troops watching the audience, Phil Collins himself in the background of one of the crowd scenes, the Pope playing guitar, the list goes on and on

  • Comment removed

  • god dam ugly fucks!

  • Why would you go to the Genesis version of the song to say the Disturbed version is better?

  • @StarBrigade well both are great songs disturbed did a great cover but without this one there wouldnt be a cover of it. great song !!!!!

  • @StarBrigade because disturbed fans simply like starting trouble I guess, can you blame them?

  • fairly sure they did this as the French would make politicians look so bleeding ugly in the 1800s. The statues of some of the artists looked nearly like this.

  • i like disturbed's cover better.

  • SCARIEST video EVER!

Lol... I call this "The Bird Video" cuz they all look like freaky birds.

  • i love reagan n the superman suit, we need him NOW LOL

  • This video is pure genius.

  • @VileSkullKing you mean genesis

  • @ewetube3 Haha, nice. Yes, of course I mean genesis.

  • Ha! An 800 lb gorilla.

  • I will embarrassingly admit that I just got the bit about the 800 lb gorilla in the room.

  • wow i surprised Disturbed even wanted to play this song..... lol but i think that Disturbed probably thought that they could make the song a lot better and they sure did lol i listened to Disturbed's version first and then this and must i say i am dissapointed from this version!

  • holy cow, I forgot about this vid. Spitting Image was an awesome Brit show. LOL.. it was "rad". LOL

  • this is that shit that gave me nightmares as a child.if i saw a person like that i'd run like hell

  • "Mr. Gorbechev, light up that bowl!"

  • Lmao

Is this "cartoon thing" supposed ot be 15+/16+

  • aaaannnnnnnnddddddd I THOUGHT CHUCKY WAS SCARY ENOUGH!!!!! 0_o

  • Madonna looks like she's on drugs!

  • this scares me deeply..i still like Disturbed's better though

  • gross

  • Hahahaha...Reagan retarded...

  • ....Love this video....=)

  • Whats Happening Today!! Open Your Eyes America! The Government Is Corrupt! Wake Up!!

  • When I saw it for the first time around 15 years ago I laughed my ass off, I thought it was the funniest music video I've ever seen. Now it seems just alright, goofy, but the song is still great.

  • dat muzic video is wierd a dog shit nigga i mean like bitch azz wierd nigga

  • This one scared me as a small child, though I never realized it had such a strong political message until I grew up. Didn't almost everyone in genesis make it big later on?

  • i thought it was funny

  • One of the best message videos (although a little creepy) about the crazy world known as the 1980's. Reagan was in his second term when this song was released and his administration was started to slide a bit as Iran/Contra came out and he went from being a tireless warrior that silenced a terrorist of that time, Gaddafi of Libya to becoming a tired old man without a clue. The song said what could be said now "Supernan where are you...everything has gone wrong somehow.

  • These shits look madd ugly.

  • What the hell were they smoking when they made this video?

  • @lemmonlime0 Camel

  • @lemmonlime0 Uh.... The video isn't supposed to make any sense, as the song is called "Land of Confusion" for a reason.... Also the company Spitting Image excelled at making thses strange videoes so they were the perfect ones to make this video

  • @lemmonlime0 Weed, lots of it.

  • @lemmonlime0 Well, whatever it was, I want some!

  • @lemmonlime0 i'm thinkin they were smokin banana peels laced with meth, common knowledge...but like phil said "there was something in the air tonight" -tonight being the night they made this video after/while smoking banana peels laced with meth, crystal meth, crystal banana meth

  • @lemmonlime0 pretty sure it's puppets from the show "spitting image"

  • @lemmonlime0 they were smoking pot, crack, heroine, meth, and 80's godly music. That's what they were smoking lol

  • Some people honestly think the Disturbed version got it right? The one that's exactly the same but more hyper and noisy? I can't even listen to the Disturbed cover any more, it's such an obvious imitation, and the changes only took it further from the magic that made the song resonate in the first place.

  • This version's good but Disturbed make it heavier, which is what a song about the government's abuse of power needs

  • Yuck no offense but I love Disturbed's version better it had more heart to it all I hear in this song is lyrics no soul to it

  • Mmkay, now that I am done watching this creepy video, I am going to watch the sexy David Cassidy.

  • classic song by a hall of fame band

  • Thank you for posting the video with the actual original soundtrack. The other Genesis, Land of Confusion videos here on YouTube seem to have a different sound to them (my memory is pretty damn good).

For the record, I also enjoy the cover by Disturbed just fine.

  • @wheezdajuice lol a little harshly worded but alright =D

  • I would love to know what Reagan REALLY thought about this video, I dont care what anyone says about Phil Collins, Genesis fucking rocks

  • 58 people were confused

  • Dude! Imma have nightmares!!! This video is spooky!

  • omg freaky vid or what

  • theyre a columbian band?

  • @ooboodylan No there not. They're english

  • wat

  • @wheezdajuice So you know that kind of attitude and thought is negligent and not thought out.

  • @wheezdajuice Think about you wish, 9/11 Brought americans toghether and it also spread them apart. If real war came to US Soil the US may fall to its knees. And that's not defeatist attitude that's common sense, our armies are spread all over the middle east, we can't nuke our own cities and if it was a real invasion we would have millions of causualties. You cannot even fathom the outbreaks and damage that america would receive. Things might change, but not for the better some food for thought

  • @wheezdajuice ah doubt it, it may come to ruin but nothing like ancient Rome's reason for coming to ruin. Ours will probably be more due to the course of action our military leaders and political leaders are taking every day.

  • I wonder if Disturbed did a remake of this song because of this nightmare inducing video? Lmao how "Disturbing!" XD

  • Nuke O Nurse O 5:09

  • This Video Scare The Shit Out Of ME!!! NIGHTMARES

  • Awesome song..I can see why Disturbed picked this song to do a cover..it is just awesome and totally up their arena. \m/horns up for Genesis\m/

  • @wheezdajuice And the rest are of the modern American love of celebrities and fame, so of course you have the "I walk up in the club and pop bottles of champagne while banging Jessica Alba" every day.

  • looks lik mupets on crack after 6 years

  • Look at Michael Jackson at 4:41. LOL

  • i feel bad that i heard disturbed's version of this first. its alrite.basically just has a little metal touch

  • You know.. Even after all this time, and everything I've seen and done, I must say that the Phil Collins puppet is the scariest thing I've ever seen :D

  • Shame. No one in mainstream entertainment, especially music, thinks THIS HARD anymore.

  • @mindstatz Thats because mainstream entertainers get paid well regardless of how horrible their stuff is. And actually, their is plenty of non-mainstream entertainers that thing this hard. I'm not naming any, you need to hunt them down, which, being not mainstream, will most likely mean you will have difficulty finding them. So...good luck on your quest!

  • This video may have fucked my brain up forever AWESOME

  • for the people that think disturbed did it better hell no!!!!!! just look 20 years later i still remember this video!!!!!!!! 20 years from now no body will know who disturbed was

  • @gusta612 o realy because DISTURBED was one of the few bands that spoke out agenst the government BECAUSE ITS WHAT THE BELIEVED NOT FOR THE MONEY

  • @CheepElectronics Right, well i'm sure it got them money in the process.

  • @Themothia2 yes it got them money but that wasnt the point of them righting music

  • @CheepElectronics righting music.... Writing. You scare me much more then any nuclear holocaust could ever scare me.

  • @CheepElectronics And my ass, You may write music for props, but disturbed they did it for the money.

  • @CheepElectronics the song by Disturbed is called Shout 2000 for a reason....

  • @gusta612 You're full of shit. :P They've been around for 15 years and are STILL selling millions upon millions of albums. They do amazing covers and they make their own amazing songs. I actually like both of them equally.

  • @TheJeej hum covers

  • @gusta612

To be honest when I think of metal band to cover this song I don't think of Disturbed I think more of a Progressive Metal band like Dream Theater or Queenryche.

  • @gusta612 doubt it, once you sell a few million CD's everyone knows who you are. Everyone listening to that genre of music anyhow, Genesis imho was the better artist however, their songs were much deeper and gave intellectual thought to the song while disturbed eh, its for people who like mediocore rock and a feeling of anarchy.

  • This is the second-creepiest video I've ever seen... second to Technologic by Daft Punk... :/

  • this video used to scare the shit outta me!!!!

  • disturbed did this song justice which is hard to find these days when someone is covering another's song. The video is also amazing. It is one cover that I enjoy very much. and I agree giving the song more of a rock edge was a wonderful idea. I love this version just as much though. Genesis is just amazing and I love Phil and always will

  • @mohegon2001

I'd love to hear Queensryche or Dream Theater do covers of this and Domino.

  • @Metalmeltdown1000 never heard of either of them :P
