@lty2k84 Not really. It would be more alarming if they said they save everyone. It's not like most people call 911 for a paper cut..Paramedics often get called for life-threatening situations. So it's a reasonable assumption that some of them die. I'm sure for a paramedics or EMT that more than 1 is "so many".
@lty2k84 I am a former EMT and a nurse. Many people are too far gone for us to save, especially the OD cases. I've done CPR four times, and we were only able to save one of them. Truth is, most of the people who go into cardiac arrest die, a lot of times it's because the people who are around them when their heart stops do not know CPR. Early CPR and early defibrillation are key to survival. That's why it's important for everyone to be trained in CPR and know how to use an AED.
@SpecializedChild462 I don't think so because in every episode of "1000 Ways To Die", it says in the opening sequence "Do Not Attempt To Try Any Of The Actions Depicted. You Will Die".
When will these reruns come back, along with newer episodes of this program? Newer episodes would help kids and teens today about the 9-1-1 system, since there are some who don't know about it, especially if an accident, a fire, or a crime was taking place.
@OriginalRockstarJosh - A former drug user is actually the best person to do those anti-drug presentations. If the officer was currently on drugs, that is very sad and unfortunate. With regard to huffing, my friend has a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) from inhalant use at the age of 12, now in her 30s. Please be well and make good, healthy choices in life.
@Jannsmith I totally agree with you! I do not know if that officer still does drugs or not, but he no longer works for the police department. Thats very sad to hear about your friend.. Ive done drugs, not proud of it, but proud to say that now I'm clean. (:

@vickiormindyb No D.A.R.E doesn't work PERIOD because its built on lies
instead of telling kids the truth about drugs and let them make chooses based on real facts they feed them a bunch of scare tactics and misinformation . We wouldn't have kids getting high on glue and duster and all that crap if they didn't make such a big deal out of drugs like weed.
@Docthal010 I remember at D.A.R.E. they just taught us that marijuana is probably going to be legalized because it's not bad. They also were rather interesting about alcohol, saying that it could actually be good for you (Red wine) in the right amounts, just that people aren't rational when drunk, and that's normally what causes the injury.
LMAO this is a reenactment all of them are, this show used actors which is why none of the people in the video look the same as the ones in the interviews.
@Emilinepinkie o. how did they get this on film? the camera man should have saved them! thats mean :O on all these films why dosent the camera man save them?
Most of the people saved in v-fib started in coarse v-fib.
I've never seen anyone be saved from fine v-fib, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. I've just never seen it happen.
I think they saved someone on one of these segments who was in fine v-fib, although I have no idea how they would have simulated an EKG strip w/ fine v-fib on it.
I've seen coarse v-fib on one of these segments, but IDK how they managed it. They aren't going to send someone into arrhythmia just to do a segment.
@msdarkstar1012 oh w/e!! its impossible to die from weed unless you are allergic to THC that is the ONLY way so stop telling kids the wrong thing so they wont do it. Kids weed isnt bad..it is only illegal because of a selfish pollitician. you will not die from marijuana unless you smoke 20,000 times the hits it takes you to get high or you are allergic to THC.
@wowthatsukd Well, when i tried weed for the first time(and last) my throat swelled up and i couldn't breathe because my lungs were like paralyzed. Weed is a plant, and anyone can be allergic to it because it is a plant. It is like being allergic to anything else. i am not saying this will happen to everyone. it is actually pretty rare. but it can happen so just be aware.
@msdarkstar1012 Oh i see. and yes that may occur. but it was not the marijuana that caused that problem. it was weak or the thin tissues in your throat causing extreme swelling. your lungs were fine but the swelling of your throat made your lungs work harder and exhale more oxygen. what you had was an unfortunate body disability rather than a bad reaction to the plant
@wowthatsukd The doctor didn't put it quite that way but yes people you can DIE from marijuana! And why do people think that it's ok, just one joint of weed has as many cancer- causing chemicals as five cigarettes. Also, give me one person that smokes weed, and isn't a lazy bum that does nothing all day.
@msdarkstar1012 wooooo no!! now your taking it too far, my friend! it is been PROVEN with scientific FACT that marijuana is natural and does not give out any disease, and has NEVER caused a death from the marijuana ITSELF. there MAY have been VERY LITTLE deaths from driving stoned or having weak throat tissue or such. and I smoke weed and i definitly am a VERY outgoing person. My friend, please give information to back yourself up if your gunna say that about weed. because it is not true.
@wowthatsukd And bob marley smoked weed every day and looked what he accomplished.. I dont want to sound mean but i really dont think you know what your talking about. Weed DOES NOT cause cancer its impossible. You cannot die from Marijuana ITSELF its impossible. and MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY people who smoke weed are still very outgoing people. Please stop telling people these things
@wowthatsukd I got the cancer causing information in the June/July issue of seventeen magazine but here is a website you can check out. i can't put the website but just type in true harmful facts about marijuana and it should be the first website please look up your facts before telling people things that aren't true. and Bob Marley was famous for smoking weed, so he didn't really do anything besides smoke and sing.
@msdarkstar1012 You know magazines have the right to put any information they want right or wrong. And a lot of magazines like "D.A.R.E" overexaggerates consequences and demerits of Under the influence substances. Such as alcohol. Yah it is bad if you do too much of it. But over all if you just do it every once in a while it is not that bad. And i did type that in. And the only website that came up that proved it was bad was a government sponsered and owned site. Which doesnt prove anything....
@msdarkstar1012 Because the government was the ones who made marijuana illegal to protect the using of hemp. And I do look up my facts. Of a matter of fact for work I do studies on marijuana. And Bob Marley was famous for creating a musical relation to his listeners using a spirit tone of jamaca for a whole generation...And it is HARD to make songs that gets MILLIONs of listeners to. So don't tell me ALL he did was smoke and sing because if it is so easy to make Multi-Million dollar songs then..
@msdarkstar1012 Why don't you create some? And what about Michael Phelps? All class worlds greatest american swimmer. Smokes weed and he does one of the hardest sports. You need to be SOOO strong to do what he does.
@msdarkstar1012 So everyone needs to face it. Marijuana is a NATURAL drug with ONLY ONE chemical in it, THC. THC is also NATURAL and has been PROVEN to not have any diseases connected with it. Many people who smoke go on to accomplish great things. What you are telling kids is not the truth.
@wowthatsukd all i was trying to say is that marijuana is a drug, and every drug has side effects. i'm not telling anyone they should or shouldn't do it. but I believe everyone should research what they are putting into thier bodies, and not to just believe people when they say things are safe. I almost died from using marijuana, and that is a fact that i know is true. I do respect your opinions, and i wish you the best in your life.
@msdarkstar1012 I understand and i apologize for the intensity of my last messages. I just don't take it to kindly when people say "give me one person that smokes weed, and isn't a lazy bum that does nothing all day. " Because I am a very successful person with plenty of accomplishments. Marijuana just gets me to the places I cannot escape in reality. And I do agree with people should research before, to see what they are getting themselves into. I believe you almost died but I know for a fact
I've seen so many drug-related deaths now I find it really difficult to have any sympathy for people like the girl.
She probably does it all the time, which is why it didn't affect her. He probably took it for the first time, which is why he had a major overreaction.
It's really hard to find sympathy for someone like the girl after you've seen the situation w/ the guy what seems like 50 million times.
@vickiormindyb I know what you mean. It's difficult to express or find sympathy for people who do this kind of stupid stuff like huffing poison stuff that can kill you.
What ever happened to getting high off of weed? Every time I hear about someone dieing doing this they are doing the world a favor by removing themselves from the gene pool. Natural selection at its finest.
check out those earings and that hair!!!! they huffed Butane and Scotch guard, the girl survived because she had a naturual immunity to aerosol products due to her overuse of hairspray!!!
@minibike11110 It was taught in my school and i kno alot of people who grew up hooked on drugs or trying drugs. And i'm sure the same with your school. Of course I don't do any but it makes your comment irrelevant.
"... and we fail so many times" made me want to tell that paramedic that it's so not a failure when they sometimes can't manage to bring dead people back to life, because, let's face it, that kid was dead. I think rescue people should remind themselves that those people they saved who didn't have heartbeats when they arrived were finished, and because of the help the rescuers provide, some otherwise dead folks are walking around today. Giving even one person their life back is pretty miraculous.
You know why adults are smarter then kids? It's because they've already done their fair share of stupid stuff when they were younger and hind (spelling?) is 20/20.
Could they have actually been held accountable if she had died though? Or was that just a threat you were using to get them to talk? Just a curiosity question.
They can be held accountable in the state of California for sure. She gave him the stuff, and CA law doesn't absolve her of the crime just b/c she also used what she gave him.
In this state, you'll be held accountable if you refuse to assist a police officer-and I would have had no problem calling one over to help me.
They're almost always happy to oblige. Especially if it prevents unnecessary death.

If you're ever in an emergency where there's an unconscious patient, don't do anything you don't already know for sure will work.
We just arrived at the scene w/ an unconscious patient, whose friend decided to give him a "wake-up" pill, so gave him a vasoconstrictor.
I'm thinking Oh great. Now how are we supposed to manage his IP level? I had no choice but to call the doctor who yelled at ME for it.

So don't tell me ALL he did was smoke and sing because if it is so easy to make Multi-Million dollar songs then..
wowthatsukd 1 year ago
@msdarkstar1012 Why don't you create some? And what about Michael Phelps? All class worlds greatest american swimmer. Smokes weed and he does one of the hardest sports. You need to be SOOO strong to do what he does.
wowthatsukd 1 year ago
@msdarkstar1012 So everyone needs to face it. Marijuana is a NATURAL drug with ONLY ONE chemical in it, THC. THC is also NATURAL and has been PROVEN to not have any diseases connected with it. Many people who smoke go on to accomplish great things. What you are telling kids is not the truth.
wowthatsukd 1 year ago
@wowthatsukd all i was trying to say is that marijuana is a drug, and every drug has side effects. i'm not telling anyone they should or shouldn't do it. but I believe everyone should research what they are putting into thier bodies, and not to just believe people when they say things are safe. I almost died from using marijuana, and that is a fact that i know is true. I do respect your opinions, and i wish you the best in your life.
msdarkstar1012 1 year ago
@msdarkstar1012 I understand and i apologize for the intensity of my last messages. I just don't take it to kindly when people say "give me one person that smokes weed, and isn't a lazy bum that does nothing all day. " Because I am a very successful person with plenty of accomplishments. Marijuana just gets me to the places I cannot escape in reality. And I do agree with people should research before, to see what they are getting themselves into. I believe you almost died but I know for a fact
wowthatsukd 1 year ago
@msdarkstar1012 that it had nothing to do with the marijuana. I respect your opinions as-well, and wish you best of luck to you too.

We failed three times in one day this week. No matter what we did, nothing worked.
We managed to save a child who coded, and we arrived at ED to find the nurse hadn't listened to us and didn't have the right equipment ready.
Then she tried to blame us for her mistake. But the child lived, no thanks to her.

"... and we fail so many times" made me want to tell that paramedic that it's so not a failure when they sometimes can't manage to bring dead people back to life, because, let's face it, that kid was dead.

I can't believe how reluctant they are to say what the victim took.
A month ago, I treated a patient who had overdosed, and getting the information from her friends about what happened was like pulling teeth.
I finally said that if they don't tell me what she took and she dies from it, they can be held accountable as accomplices in her death.
I got the information without further incident, but I couldn't believe I had to be so blunt to get it.
vickiormindyb 2 years ago 6
Could they have actually been held accountable if she had died though? Or was that just a threat you were using to get them to talk? Just a curiosity question.
DorvellTStewart 2 years ago
They can be held accountable in the state of California for sure. She gave him the stuff, and CA law doesn't absolve her of the crime just b/c she also used what she gave him.
In this state, you'll be held accountable if you refuse to assist a police officer-and I would have had no problem calling one over to help me.
They're almost always happy to oblige. Especially if it prevents unnecessary death.
