Oooh... that's a hard one. I can't possibly compare these two coz it would be unfair. DBY focused more on love whereas NWP focuses more on friendship (maybe just 40% love). The thing that got me hooked on NWP is I really didn't know what was gonna happen nxt. DBY 4 me was kind of predictable. If ur looking 4something like DBY, try Proposal Daisakusen. U have to also watch the SP because with the SP, you'll be really satisfied with the ending. Oh yeah, there's kissing in it :)
