@tomasusan I thought that too, but then showed it to a friend who hasn't seen Clannad and they agreed it does give an almost eerie feel of sadness. It's strange. But I agree, episode 18 may have something to do with it for me, because I think of all the other routes and the possibilities being lost. (It's worse when you're like me and have played each route on the Visual Novel of this and know what happens with each character.)

This song has two meaning. It tells about couple, who go "over" all the troubles and no matter what they become strong together and together they can handle hardships, like Tomoya and Nagisa. But in tennis scene when Tomoya proofs that he likes Nagisa, it's kind of "over": Kyou, Ryou and Tomoyo understands that now it's over, they can't get Tomoya, because he loves Nagisa. Haha, hard to explain. This song is remix from Kyou's theme, so it's kinda ironic~ :D

Also the main scenario writer for Clannad Jun Maeda thought "clannad" meant family or clan in Irish (that part is on the wiki for clannad)

but its not like it really makes a difference anyway, arguing over the title.

The theme is really about family after all.

They were both originally made as Visual Novels(computer novels) by the same company, Key. They were also both animated by the same studio, Kyoto Animation, KyoAni for short. Air is the other series made by Key and that was also animated by KyoAni.

It was obvious that the anime would follow the canon (Nagisa) arc, and although I haven't actually played the visual novel, circumstancial evidence shows that it's almost impossible to tie in said arcs with Nagisa's.

yup, I agree with the lag of eps for Tomoyo, Kyou and Roy arc. But then again, majority of the touching and sad parts are from Fuko and Kotomi's arcs so it kinda balance out.
