  • 1' diameter basket to a 6' diameter garden we've found to be optimal, and several of us have made our inner baskets much taller to make room for more kitchen scrap waste (we all eat a lot of produce now!).

  • Thx @RoughingIt - yes, I can see how it may appear as though the basket is covered up....it however is not. I've found in my own khg that the basket sometimes gets quite full (so I made mine taller) and it also decomposes down rather quickly (depending on temperature) to make room for more waste to be added. Above the surface, I placed a wrap around the outside to hold the waste in better, too. I was wondering if @Ranger thought the dimensions were not optimal or such. ???

  • Ranger - can you describe what you mean about the basket not being right? We've actually experimented with different designs with a variety of results, but all of them seem to work. I'm interested in your thoughts. Thx.

  • @MissJulieSan I believe what he is referring to is the basket looks like it's covered up for good with the soil, when the point of having the basket isn't just to put wastes in once and cover it but rather to keep adding waste continually. Just guessing though:)

  • The basket is not right. Bad info.
