Intel loses monopolistic pricing lawsuit, AMD/ATI stomp all over Intel in the GPU market, Nvidia doesn't want to touch Intel with a 10ft pole... result? Intel pushes a CPU heavy rendering algorithm as the new wave of rendering technology, despite poor performance, inefficient algorithms, and marginal gains in appearance. Raytracing might one day be the bread and butter of gaming, but GPU's can be retooled to handle rays in parallel just like polygons if that paradigm arrives.
A few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand (sorry bout the spam THIS SCARES ME!
Such a shame an obvious nerd is so unaware of basic physical light properties... The engine lags and looks so 90s. Intel has a long way to go, and it most certainly won't walk it by calling itself "Sponsor of Tomorrow" LOL - thats so lame
Daniel could use a bit more weightlifting IMO :) He's pretty chubby
@avrilinblood Come on dude, its real time raytracing! IMO, the only reason you think it 'looks so 90s' is because of the textures on the environment and the fact that is a brightly sunlit world when you're used to 'dark and grimy' games. Real time raytracing has massive potential for realism.
"It does happen in reality" lol, you need to get out more.

His last explanation is a bit lacking. It doesn't explain multiple lights, and the way he explains it, shadows would be pitch black

They sure pad this with a lot of meaningless fluff. It's very tedious.

But anyway, at least Ray Tracing is going to be used in gaming more and more now.

ray tracing was impossible to be rendered in real time 10 years ago...
doubletrance 2 years ago 2
we're still unable to render in real time ray tracing on a basic computer!
BenjaminN89 2 years ago 3
That's because GPUs are not optimized for Raytracing but heavily optimized for rastirization.
Kyrax1 2 years ago
@Kyrax1 I agree with u, GPUs still had no gut to jump to raytracing

If Daniel calls that pushing weights hard, I don't want to see what raytracing will do. Ever.
