Hi some crossing, nothing difficult. However, lots of snow this year and it is hight . So anytime soon it would be very difficult... At least one month from now... It wil be a beautiful backpack.
Thanks for the great video! I'm hiking this with my wife in September as well. It will be her first real backpacking experience. How was the weather, and was four days a good amount of time to plan for the hike?
There are lots of beautiful states but I think CO really ranks top 2 ! Alaska first. But too cold to live there. Good luck and I know you will enjoy the state if you love the outdoors.
Just be ready for the altitude and pm showers - and enjoy every mile - it's an incredible beautiful place ! I would like to do it again but the reverse just for the heck of it. But with so many choices - we have not gotten around to it yet.... thanks
We came so close to going to Geneva and further. I could have used an extra day out there. Thanks for the details I promise to do when I return - this summer I'll be in better shape too. Thanks for replying - hope to run into you someday out there ! Liz
Geneva Lake is well worth the detour. You can drop down to Crystal Canyon very easily. Next time take the Hasley basin trail and make jump over to West Maroon. Hasley is beautiful and no harder than the Fravert/Frigid Air move. The trail off Hasley saddle moves in two directions. If you're going to take West Maroon move hard SE just off the pass and skirt the upper ridge to the junction comming off Frigid Air. Makes the move over West Maroon much easier than dropping down to the river.
Excellent video. I especially enjoyed the narrated panorama shots talking of passes, 14'ers, creeks, ridges & drainages. Would have liked to see more camping & cooking shots but overall an excellent amateur film.
