When you look at anything shining from on the horizon it will appear more red because you are looking at it through more atmosphere than when it's right overhead. The higher wavelength blue light gets scattered along the way and more of the long wavelength red light gets through. This is also why the Sun is more red at sunrise and sunset, and why the stars twinkle with red light more on the horizon. : )
