I believe that the mac is a cult like product with a cult like following mac users constantly speak of superiority and security but the same security and thought of superiority can be acquired with free as in beer software such as bsd the os mac is based off of or even linux from what I read hardware wise mac is inferior to pc when it comes to terms of cost hardware tends to be outdated due to the very nature of the development of the unix kernal although mac is quicker to drop depricated parts
Windows is the CHEAPEST option, that's why its more popular.
I'm the proud owner of a Macbook Pro and iPhone 4, I chose them because Apple products are known for their good quality and stylish design. But yes, Apple users like myself are very particular and we do appreciate the 'finer things in life' :p

@Okxm: $600 that is too much $400 is the sweet spot my friend. intel t3400 duo 2.13ghz, intel 4500m, 160gb, 15.4", 1.3mpixel webcam, cdRW...yeah hackintosh it with snow leopard. I preferred Ubuntu 9.10_x64 over mac snow leopard at the moment, i like how mac feels really secure because all 3rd party have to run in .dmg file system. Mac=it works, Linux=anything you want it to be, and windows=Games+Fun+it works if you know how to maintain it.

At home I use Linux and Mac OSX. At work I use Solaris, AIX, and Windows. I recently got into the Mac thing and I would say I am not their typical demographic. I have tech skills and I don't look at a computer like an appliance. IMHO Mac OSX, as a general rule, just works and that is very addictive. The older I get the less I like to screw with things that should just work.

Sadly linux doesn't in the slightest do what OSX can do. I know, I've tried it. It was like a week of hacking to get Gnash to work as a flash plugin substitute.
OSX is indeed a lovely NIX, but when they went about building OSX, they found things like Xwindow and other subsystems to be below par, and built the quartz and core libraries, which are getting better every version. Apple's BSD stack is really sweet

Then why does windows offer far more 3rd party applications, far more manufacturer driver support, far more games, a FAR greater ability to customise your PC with choices in every single aspect of a computers power and appearance and FAR greater performance for price compared to mac. I work on the same stuff I do in school when I am home on my PC. They're both computers, they both get the same job done. I've experienced the mac's at school freezing up and programs crashing (causing me to lose saved work), and I've had problems at home on my PC. (continued in next)

XP was awsome when it came out and i still think that it is better than os x tiger, but now its a different story. leopard is superior over vista, and if you can afford a mac then buy one. why should i have to put up with the bullshit of vista

At home I use Linux and Mac OSX. At work I use Solaris, AIX, and Windows. I recently got into the Mac thing and I would say I am not their typical demographic. I have tech skills and I don't look at a computer like an appliance. IMHO Mac OSX, as a general rule, just works and that is very addictive. The older I get the less I like to screw with things that should just work.

Sadly linux doesn't in the slightest do what OSX can do. I know, I've tried it. It was like a week of hacking to get Gnash to work as a flash plugin substitute.
OSX is indeed a lovely NIX, but when they went about building OSX, they found things like Xwindow and other subsystems to be below par, and built the quartz and core libraries, which are getting better every version. Apple's BSD stack is really sweet

My argument is that PC has infinitely better hardware and PC is a lot cheaper, and you get nearly the same thing (there isn't a single program exclusive to Mac that doesn't have a nearly as good alternative to Windows).

Then why does windows offer far more 3rd party applications, far more manufacturer driver support, far more games, a FAR greater ability to customise your PC with choices in every single aspect of a computers power and appearance and FAR greater performance for price compared to mac.
