No, Taiwan is NOT part of China. I have a Taiwan Module this semester and what I've learned so far is Taiwan belongs to REPUBLIC OF CHINA not PRC. It seems like only people from mainland China say Taiwan is part of China. Taiwan has its own National Flag and National Anthem. The passport of Taiwan doesn't even have People's Republic of China on it like Hong Kong or Macau do.
