Millo was phenomenal at this stage in her career - she had everything: the voice, technique, musicianship and temperament to be one of the greatest Verdi soprano of all time. Why she didn't have a bigger international career than she did is a mystery to me.
When I was 18 I saw my first opera. The Met. Il Trovatore. She was the standin for Eva Marton who was 'sick'. Millo was phenomenal. Sang with Pavarotti, Cossotto, Milnes. It was a great night and a great memory.
Who is always in great voice? No one, I have followed Miss Millo's career for over 20 years and have almost everything she ever sang, and for 95% she is in astounding and amazing voice. Go hate elsewhere. Brava Millo. Brava!!!!!!

Glad Von Otter never sung Eboli...would have ruined her voice.
Okay now she sings Gudrune...but we are now many years later.
And wonderfull performances further!

Wow, I love it when old goodies like this show up, eighties aesthetics and all. Thanks a lot!.
And stating the obvious - they were so YOUNG!
But why on Earth show a video at the end of a live performance? Weird.
And pssst, you should correct your remark about Hampson and Rodrigo. Italian version in 1993, French one 1996. That's no twenty years. ;-)
