Why does the image change so radically at 7:18? Is this a feature of the original film or just a variable-quality upload?

@Ebbywebby It's definitely not a feature of the original film. Presumably the first part only survived on a copy that didn't get preserved too well, whereas the second part comes from a better and coloured copy that only partially survived.
