This would look smoother if you could reseparate those dutch braids into their original three sections, and merge them into one another, keeping the right strands together, then the center, then the left strands...... Easier said than done when you're doing it on yourself, but definitely manageable on the head of a second person, or with outside help.
Wowww you are very beautiful.. Curvy, long blond hair, feminine face.. i love your style :) anyway i was wondering if you think 1year without triming is alot? because i wanna grow my hair but they don't grow alot (like..8 centimeters a year :( ) .. thank u for answering !
@pidigrimerde I only trim mine when I notice the ends splitting. Around every 8 months or so. If your ends aren't splitting there is no need to go in for a trim. If you can go a year without one, then awesome!
I believe her braid is a fourstrand braid with those four strands braided :) I've done it before and it looks good with mid-back length hair to any longer
So pretty! It really does look like her braid! And yeah, I agree, there's no way 70 feet of hair could be condensed into the length she had during that scene ;)
Really cool briad! I wanna try it, even though i'm so clumsy (too bad because it would be awsome to show up atschool tomorrow with that kind of hair). Man, your hair is really rapunzel-like, even longer than mine! Soooo cool
Lovely though-- too bad braids don't show up very well in my near black hair... so I add ribbons! Nice tutorial, and I agree, there's no way the amount of hair she had was all contained in that braid... But it is a cartoon... I still think she would have been falling on her face at the end though, having all that weight lifted! Poor girl would also have a neck like a bull!
Thank you for including the approx. time to make this hair style. That helps so so much! Could you revise the others to include an approx. time as well, please?
Maybe one could make it look thicker (and reduce more length, as seen in the movie) when making it a five-strand braid? But I see that this wouldn't really be the original, since one could clearly see that in the movie, there were only three strands as well.
wait, so only the "outside" right part of the dutch braid gets an added piece of hair? or is it every time the strand goes "outside". gah, I hope you understand my question, it's badly worded. xD
@littoswtangvil Every time you add hair (that would be every turn) you add only to the outside strand as opposed to both the outside and the inside before a turn.

wish you hadnt said the word "crap" right at the start. Had to cover daughter's ears and was told by her that you're a naughty woman with long rapunzel hair :/
@MILKYWAIMAN I apologize. I guess I just didn't think that anyone of the age where crap would be deemed as offensive language would be perusing You Tube...there's a lot worse on here. Of course, if I'd have thought about it, it is a braid based on a cartoon character, so for that I do apologize. I try very hard to watch my language on here as I know that I have some parents who watch me with their kids...in my regular life I cuss like a sailor.
@YouAreMyBestDream I am a prude for not wanting my 3 year old to hear even mild swear words like CRAP?? Hmm, yeah...okay - go and learn what the word PRUDE means. Idiot.
oh my god, you havve the same type of hair and color as Rapunzel!! It looks really pretty but i wonder how it would look in shorter hair. I'm going to try it! Thanks!
Thank you so much for posting! I have always wanted to do this kind of braid since I was 6 but I couldn't do it myself, and now I can! Thanks again!!!
Wow, thanks so much for this video! I also have long hair (its down to my waist and I usually braid it), so I was thrilled when "Tangled" was released, too! I've been wanting to try her braid since I saw the movie in December, and now, I'll be able to. Thanks so much for posting this, your hair is lovely. Don't ever cut it!
Thank you so much for uploading this. Tangled is my new favorite Disney movie & I'm going to Disneyland tomorrow to meet Rapunzel & Flynn Rider. I can't wait to do my hair like this for tomorrow!!!
Love your videos. :) I got the clear elastics at the dollar store and love them- they also make it easier to hide the end of the braid in a bun because they're smaller. The only issue is that mine suicide by snapping, usually when I'm wearing them, and I'm afraid my ferrets will eat one they find on the floor. Guess I'll only use them when the braid end will be secured somewhere safe inside the style.
My girls just got the Tangled Rapunzel dolls and I used you tutorial to braid their 17" hair. Needless to say it can out great and the girls both love it. With a 2 and 4 year old the 17" hair would have been a tangled mess in no to
I use those little clear (silicone?) bands on my and my husband's hair. I adore them.
I am in frightening need of a trim or a friend to do a good S&D mission on my hair but it has been at least 3 years since my last cut and my hair is still moving in a positive direction length wise.
@TheFlutification I am not Pentecostle. What in the world gave you the idea that I was? Most women with long hair do not grow it because of religious reasons. They grow it because it's pretty and they like it.
@torrinpaige I'm sorry! I just never met someone or heard of someone with hair that long that wasn't. I AM Pentecostle and was just wondering if you were too. I've seen a lot of people on YouTube with long hair that said they were religious and they do a lot of hair tutorials for long hair. I just assumed you were another one. Sorry if I offended you.
@TheFlutification Oh, no, I'm not at all offended. LOL. I just realized that my reply sounded all huffy...not my intention. Sometimes typing doesn't get the inflection right. It should have come across as genuinely puzzled. I, myself, don't know any Pentecostle women...I went to school with a gal when I was younger, but her hair wasn't very long. Most of the long haired gals I know just like long hair, that's all. No reason except that I like it and it suits me, I think.
I'm so happy you made a video on this braid! I just got home from seeing 'Tangled' and couldn't stop thinking about how fun it would be to braid my hair like hers with pretty flowers and such (my hair is the same length as yours - so the human version of it)! It figures your video was the first thing that came up when I searched "Rapunzel braid" :) Your tutorials are always so wonderful! Thanks! <3
wow 4 feet of hair im jealous.....!!! nice tuturial i always learn from you and and my aunts, friends, and cousins are always amazed that i know how to do so many braids, they always make me do their hair but i love doing it so thank you!, i think i'll try this on my friend or cousin. love your hair by the way really beautiful. hope i'll be patient enough not to cut my hair when i get bored with it and just gow it out...
Hey im trying to grow out my hair so , do you straiten your hair? because i dont want to damage my hair but its wavy and looks muuuch better strait but i never straiten it because im scared it will ruin it...:/ Do you think its fine if i use heat protectant and moraconoil (Idk how to spell that)??
@10vball01 Any heat styling will hurt your hair if you do it every day. I blow dry about twice a month and flat iron about twice a year (just because it takes so darned long). My hair is still in pretty good shape because I try not to fry it too often. I can get it all dry (and pretty straight) in about 12-15 minutes with a hairdryer...and I always use heat protectant. Just try to limit your heat styling and you should be okay. Oh, and the oil? Good stuff!
@torrinpaige Thanks lol i jst realized i spelt Straighten wrong sorry! just wanted to make sure i wouldnt ruin my hair terribly by straightening my hair like once a month , because i didnt know if it was because i used to brush my hair horribly and also wen it was wet or because of straightening i think it was because how i brushed it i was not carful with my hair lol just yanked sry lol THANKS
Just tried the braid. It came out pretty well for my first attempt and my minimal braiding skills. I need longer hair though. Loved Tangled! I think I will use this for a ren faire in the future.
Working with the assumption that the average person’s hair grows six inches a year at eighteen Rapunzal’s hair would only be around nine feet long. But seeing as its fiction and magical (or some such thing) seventy feet makes for a better story.
Nice job on your braid by the way, simple yet intricate.
Omg! I watched this tutorial yesterday and dreamed about doing it tonight! xD I just hope my hair was your color (and length, even tough I'm going for terminal!) because braids, specially elaborate ones don't lookk the same on dark hair :/ I love my color but it's the only thing I don't like about it, all details get kind of lost. Congratulations :D the braid is awesome ^^ can't wait to see the movie!
I worked on Tangled so seeing this in real life is like the cherry on top of its successful fun over this past Thanksgiving weekend. Thanks for doing this video, it's amazing! And just because you don't have 70 feet of ultra-thick hair doesn't mean your braid is any less beautiful. ^_~
@Merc1650 Awesome! Thanks for all your hard work on Tangled. It was one of the most beautiful animated movies I have ever seen. I can't even fathom how many hours went into just the hair alone.
@Merc1650 you worked on Tangled? Wow! That movie was the best thing to come from Disney in a long time, great movie! You deserve a lot of credit no matter what your job was. :-)
@Merc1650 Even though I saw that a number of people have already answered to your comment and even though I actually don't have much to add, I couldn't resist replying, too. ;) My heart virtually melted away and I totally fell in love with that movie! Finally, it's released on DVD here in Germany as well! =) It really brought back the old Disney magic I grew up with. Besides, it made me feel short-haired for the first time in years! :D
Wow love the new Disney inspired hair style but now I am wondering if it can be done with a rope braid instead of the english hmm may have to try that out.Thanx Torrin your an inspiration to new ideas for putting my hair up and thousands of how did you do that's!You rock!
I missseedddd youuu!! You're so cute ^^ Good job on the braid, I still didn't see the movie, but I will in a couple of weeks =) Are you sure about the rubber bands? They frighten me a bit, i always think they're more agressive... how do you remove them? If you're sure they are better, I might as well try them too =)
@JDLHJDLH They're not really rubber, just plastic. I was weird about them too, to be honest, but I decided to try the clear ones because, well, they're clear. I hate for my works to show. They just slide right off, but if it makes you nervous, you can snip them off with cuticle scissors. You only get one use out of them anyway as they'll stretch too thin if you try to use them again (well, sometimes I can get two uses, but that's it). I can't believe how well they work.
@torrinpaige Thank's a bunch for the reply =) I shall try them then ^^ Your hair is looking amazing, I can only hope to reach classic lenght as well, i can't wait =D I'll be waiting for your next video, they're great =)
Short braid!? Ha Ha, I gasped when I saw how long Your's is and was amazed!! I'm just getting used to getting my longish hair out from between me and a chair back. I'm not looking forward to getting a trim but the ends are getting ratty......
I discovered those clear bands when I was a dog groomer! I don't pull them out tho, I just slip my scissors under and snip them off. You can also get them in colors from a groomer's supply catalog. Your local groomer may be willing to split an order with you.
Torrin you rock!! I was excited about the movie too. I'm wanting to see iit this weekend. I too just discovered the clear bands & agree they dont break the hair. Thanks for sharing your new braid. Keep up the good work.
yay! awesome new braid! Small child and I went to see Tangled on Saturday, and she spent the time at the restaurant trying to swing from my high pony (left unbraided in honor of the movie...)
oh, you can try wrapping the silk flowers in florist tape...
@magpiewench I wrapped them with florist tape, but they had so many little catchy jaggedy things on the petals themselves that it just pulled and tore and took me forever to unwind. Blurgh.
hey torrin i dont know how to tag someone, lol,i was wanting you to do a video on your favorite products..hair ,lotion, perfumes and stuff.would love to see what all you like.thanks a bunch:)
@tfrazee1 The hair stuff is covered in one of my vids, I believe, but as far as the other stuff? I love the good smelly Victoria's secret lotion (I prefer the feel to Bath & Body works) but B&B has better scents...so I use both; the only perfumes I wear are Tresor when I feel fancy and the men's version of CK's Obsession when I feel earthy (it just smells better on me than the girl version), I use Vaseline to moisturize my face and I use Bare Minerals make-up. I'm pretty simple, actually. :oP

I discovered those clear bands when I was a dog groomer! I don't pull them out tho, I just slip my scissors under and snip them off. You can also get them in colors from a groomer's supply catalog. Your local groomer may be willing to split an order with you.

Lovely as usual. It looks a bit tricky when all the braids come together at the neck but I'm going to give this one a try!

For another variation, you could also rope braid the ends.
Yay for accent braids!
And sorry. Just saw the part about the silk flower takedown.

yay! awesome new braid! Small child and I went to see Tangled on Saturday, and she spent the time at the restaurant trying to swing from my high pony (left unbraided in honor of the movie...)
oh, you can try wrapping the silk flowers in florist tape...
magpiewench 1 year ago

:oP
