The cost of membership at that time was $20 (today it is only $40 for eMembership and $48 for mail membership). If you could not afford a membership, you would be given a scholarship. The same is true today.

I have just recently read a very indept biography of Edgar by a Mr. Kirkpatrick and he indicated that there was one actual recording of his voice doing a reading. They had tried to record his voice before to no avail - due to an odd circustance that you cannot put anything directly over Edgar's solar plexus and continue the reading. I had never heard of him before going to a garage sale a couple weeks ago. I looked over this tiny book that I had gotten and chills ran through my body and the thought occured to me...I am this guy.
