Either I'm missing something or you have no idea what you are talking about. Sorry, I don't mean to offend you, but that made no sense whatsoever. I think you should do a little more research?
@ockteby I guess I see where you're coming from, that the technology could change the world. But I just don't see it as a possibility, as far as things go right now. I really don't know anything about it, but the world is so screwed up as far as government and money being such a big part in everything. I agree with THEFATTY2003's comment.. Like I said, I don't really know much about it, but I don't think you quite understand the concept of "The Grid".
@ockteby I think if this was to be implemented full scale, it would take completely shutting down the internet and starting a new one. Which is what the government is actually trying to do right now. (Do a google search for "Obama Killswitch.") But if it actually happened it would be worse in the end, because the government would control and regulate everything online. And it would probably cost a lot more. I'm curious about the subject to. please comment back if you anyone has anything to add.
@ockteby Net neutrality is being taken away more and more all the time. The government wants to get rid of it completely and control all media. Looks like they're accomplishing it too..They've passed some really crazy stuff lately. Alex jones talked about a lot of crazy stuff that just got passed today. If you've never heard of him you should check it out.
i thought the new internet would make it cost more for private transfers. basically they can choose what you do on there. so u wont get ur hands on it unless its illegal
Sorry but this video is misleading and wrong. The gird is not designed to replace the web, its designed for tasks that require high processing levels. Your download speed is limited by your method of internet connection. If you were to use a grid system on the connections we have today it would be slow as hell; processing smaller tasks locally is much faster than sending it off to a broker to assign somewhere else.
In my video I covered the hodgepodge of transmission now available. This video is over 1 year old, and I couldnt remember what I said. So your comment made me revisit this posting, and I did cover this aspect of the grid. To add to this, some of the rural areas will probably never be upgraded. The remote area I live in AT&T doesnt provide DSL, although the stimulus package supposed to remedy this. Thanks for your comment.
i think this grid is for scientific purposes not for civil use or youtubers, i don't see the use for more speed, i personaly can download a movie in 2 min. normal people don't need this, normal people don't need internet at all. man thins he is talking to the world on hes pc, but he is alone.alone in hes room, no one is really ther.
well the internet wasn't intended for civil purposes but for the government. The Grid will eventually make its debut on the Civil spectrum but not for a while.
And I don't mean some kind of slide show. I mean something you could move around in, interact with things, even so far as to walking into shops and buying products which will then be shipped to your home.
The sad part will be that a lot of people who are, in your language, sinners, will suffer greatly at this power. But what's wrong with that, the greatest justice is ones own upon theirself.
You'll still have your pc's and privacy, and the web, however, if you choose you can log into the grid. For example, a fully steroscopic 1:1 visually accurate virtual tour of Greece will be possiable on any computer with a steroscopic screen (already invented) a connection to the Grid, and enough processing power to use the software which will be open source allowing it to run on any OS. In theory, you could run this tour on a 1980's laptop.
I'll have to look more into The Grid. I don't understand what the possibilities of it are besides it being faster and more efficient. But how does that change the youtube community? I won't be able to watch videos any faster.
I wonder if I can just hook The Grid up to my brain and learn a language in seconds. Now that would be something!
Our teachers told us that computers would make life so much easier. We wouldn't have to work as much etc. I'm waiting... I didn't mind getting off of my butt to change the channels on the T.V. There were only 4 channels, but they were free and socially we were all on the same "channel". We didn't complain, we had other things to do.
I'm making a video for you about this subject ockteby. Hopefully you have been able to check out my videos came up with a few good ones including the new show I'm putting together this summer
"... and who knows what else..." So true about how WWII lines meet up with more recent fiber optic lines to keep the Internet from being what it could be. The idea of the Grid is fascinating - that it would store all our data (no more hard drives here?) is both full of exciting possibility and terrifying potential. But I welcome it anyway.
Terrifying -- In 1949 his prophesy of nineteen eighty four appears tame beside what we know is coming. I can remember when we didn't have TV. The local hardware store purchased one, and we would sit for hours watching what a physicist said was the big bang. Occasionally we say a glimpse of an image from Cincinnati through what I called snow.
This is 6 yrs away. The Grid will be internet elitism at its worst. For the first ten years it will be so ridiculously expensive to access that for someone to declare, "I'm on The Grid", will make them a status symbol. What I'm actually concerned about is the speed drop off data will have once Grid data goes from fibre optic to wireless. Anyone?
I think your concerns are well-founded. As of now you can register a domain and place a personal web page on the internet having it served to clients as fast as YouTube or Microsoft. Anything new will be market driven, with the availability dictated by money.
Just imagine; searching all text in existence in seconds.
When everything that's ever been recorded in human history is accessible and available in an instant, what will we do when we're bored? Our fantasy is that this could never happen; it's all there, what more could we want? Yet, I bet that the restless ennui that's afflicted humankind since the beginning of time (or at least since the invention of television!) will continue to whisper to us: "what's next? what's next?"
Either I'm missing something or you have no idea what you are talking about. Sorry, I don't mean to offend you, but that made no sense whatsoever. I think you should do a little more research?

Hmm, perhaps there is something wrong with me. But personally I don't mind at all the potential of cybernetization in the future.
On the contrary in my case I welcome it, though with certain logical reserves ofcourse.
