Sounds terrible markgodd. Very unlike the weather on the day we climbed. It was a beautiful clear September day with no moisture in the air whatsoever. In fact i'd go as far as saying the conditions were perfect for us all. Except Nigel of course.
I got stuck in the same place yesterday. Heavy rain the night before left the rock very greasy. That combined with 70-80mph gusts. Very hairy indeed but well relieved to get to the top.
Well done, Nigel you made it up in the end through sheer perserverence and a little help from your friends! I got stuck on this exact bit just last May and after trying the exposed route around it, got a touch of vertigo, took fright and had to give up. Going back down was no mean feat - I dropped my rucksack about 20 feet with 2 cameras inside- they both survived and was then humiliated watching a dozen 16-17 year olds (mainly girls) and their mentor take the whole thing in their stride!
Know how the guy feels, got stuck on a section yesterday of this very route. Took me a few mins to work out how to get round it... problem being old Solomans and wet rock... bummer.
