The animation is good, thought I'm not sure I agree with the voices. Grand Ma Ben is loosely based off of a Popeye character. Phoney Bone should have a more gravelly "scratchy" voice. Phone Bone... gosh. My little girl won't read the comics unless I actually read and VOICE the characters! I kid you not. Smiley, should steal a 'little bit' of his voice as a higher Goofy. Ted was originally written with a 'thick' Southern accent. He's wise, and not a kid. His brother SHOULD be a bass tho.
@Grillenheimer My nephew was just the same when it came to reading comics a few years back, although in his case I read Carl Barks & Don Rosa, Uncle Scrooge stories to him and always voiced the characters, I always worked really hard at trying to give Uncle Scrooge a Scottish accent. I also read him Stan Lee & Jack Kirby Fantastic Four comics and Lee & Ditko Spider-Man comics from my Marvel Masterworks collection and voiced it all. He really got into comics and is reading them on his own now.
@andrewkful Says a lot about how horrible the in-game graphics and animation are, if they even manage to spoil a perfectly serviceable voiceover. You could probably make a perfectly fine short clip from the game's dialogue and cut scenes with your drawing and animation prowess.
...only thing I personally do not like so much are the rat monsters' voices. Should be more snarling, maybe with a lisp, similar to Mike Patton's voicework in The Darkness.
@HUBailey Well, going by how their speech is represented in the books with gnarled speech bubbles and a scrawly font, I'd say that their voices are as far from human as possible :-) .
Alternatively, though, I could also imagine them being voiced in a way similar to the hyenas from Disney's Lion King.
@sonyninjablake I animated this in Adobe Flash CS3,which is expensive but is crucial for digital animators to get this style. I drew the backgrounds in Photoshopand put everything together in AfterEffects.

I can tell you riped the audio from the video game. Tip: The Voices of that Video game for Thorn and Grandma Ben wern't amazing. With that animation talent, hire your OWN voice actors. You're right. Good lord their voices don't match their personalities at all. Fone Bone's voice sounds way too low than what I imagined, and Grandma sounds too young and nice for her personality, and I imagined Ted to have a more southern accent. The animation's really good tho.
@andrewkful, agree, not your fault, but i do agree with mequestrain. grandma ben in particular sounds waaay more like a cheerful suburban housewife than the badass and heroine that we know her to be.
I see no reason why it wouldn't work in 3D. The bones' rounded, sparse design could work in 3D if it's made better than the game. Besides, The comic didn't rely on a distinctive art-style, other than the dissonance between the completely cartoony bones and the more realistic Valley. As long as they keep the story and humour intact it's gonna be fine.
i dont care who makes the bone movie... as long as it looks good and is faithful to the story to a damn T... if it is not made to a movie by the time im out of the military... im going to do it myself... and o damn... im going to comic con next week... i hope jeff smith is there

i always thought the Bones would have more of a nasal tint in their voices due to their anatomy

Fone's voice always kinda sounded like Spongebob to me (idk why) Phoney is Nathan Lane, and Smiley either Goofy or Pippin from lord of the rings.

The voices ARE a little different from what I expected but Phoney's voice is excellent! And I know that I should tell the people who made the game but I'm just saying... Anyway, you should really continue! Its awesome!

You're right. Good lord their voices don't match their personalities at all. Fone Bone's voice sounds way too low than what I imagined, and Grandma sounds too young and nice for her personality, and I imagined Ted to have a more southern accent. The animation's really good tho.

@andrewkful, agree, not your fault, but i do agree with mequestrain. grandma ben in particular sounds waaay more like a cheerful suburban housewife than the badass and heroine that we know her to be.

I see no reason why it wouldn't work in 3D. The bones' rounded, sparse design could work in 3D if it's made better than the game. Besides, The comic didn't rely on a distinctive art-style, other than the dissonance between the completely cartoony bones and the more realistic Valley. As long as they keep the story and humour intact it's gonna be fine.
