  • One thing making me think that he is not awake is that his cid is saying he planted a house on a cliff and the thing making me believe that he is awake is that his real totem say he is awake. The thingi at the end is Mal's totem, cobb's totem is his wedding ring if I am not wrong. :O

  • He is dreaming! It is wrong watching the totem, but watch the kids.. Cobb asks them what they have done today, and they answer: We have planted a house on a cliff.

He is deaming I tell you!!!!

  • Why can't it be that he is living a dream...

Besides, we don't need to watch the the top go over because it starts to waver. In a dream that would never happen.

  • Is it weird that the last few seconds scare me really badly?

  • Just finished watching the movie for the 8th time... Am i just weird lol?

  • I think its reality, the girl in the plane is with her token in her hand feeling exactly that shes back in reality also, all small details point to reality

  • if i'm correct he's not dreaming because he knows the affect of the top, making its power nulified where as his totem is his wedding ring. In his dreams he's still married to his wife so he still wears the ring, in the real world he doesn't. I didn't see a ring in the end.

  • Ken Watanabe is GREAT actor. So are the rest, but Ken takes it to another place.

  • I don't think there is one interpretation of whether or not Cobb is still dreaming. But can anyway help me with a problem please; Cobb says that in his dreams he uses memories (I think he also says they can be slightly altered in detail), and in the ending scene when we first see his kids it is a shot from his memory of them with their backs turned. So at the end is he seeing a memory again? because that would imply he is still dreaming.

  • this is obviously a movie where a sequal would cost dicaprios head

  • You could obviously hear it slowing down.

  • Emocionante... unico... el mejor final de pelicular que he visto...

  • i think that cobb mind perceive what is reality and what is fake as one single dimension. that probably why the spin top wobbles but didnt stop spinning.

  • THE ENDING MEANT HE STILL IS NOT IN REALITY:

my reasoning is because kids change a lot when they are young, he didn't see them for like 2 years? Yet his kids looked like the same as they were 2 years ago when he last saw them.

  • @lhtony it is real, the "top" gives a hint that its about to stop spinning, with the wobble noise.

  • @xMercified It didn't stop spinning, your mind assumed it stopped spinning because you hear a sound XD

  • @lhtony it cut the scene off before it could fall, common sense.

  • "You know what, I'll just say this: Use your ears not your eyes." top fell down, cobb is in reality for yall thats curious

  • This is one of the best ending scene's I've ever seen but it'd much better if the totem wasn't showed to be about to be stopped.

  • I fucking love the soundtrack! Amazingly beautiful and full of emotions. -3

  • christopher nolan amazing movies!!!

  • Epic.

  • Epic movie

  • FaZe Clan Christmas Celebration needs to be taken off Youtube. I feel like throwing up every time I see the thumbnail. I'm even more disgusted by the fact that 132,368 people clicked on that video. I would flag the video, but that would mean that I have to click on the video first.

  • OMG !

4:07 daughter in arms, 4:11 son in arms.

    Dream or mistake ?

  • theme=(L)

  • its mrs nolan giving out the towels :D

  • i almost cried

  • I was playing this track on my iPod while walking through the airport after coming back from college... damn, that felt good.

  • @GalenMarek99 GAY!

  • @GalenMarek99 haha, you actually believe that was real? Damn, we're good.

  • For those wondering if he was dreaming at the end, here's my explanation of why it was real:

When he was with the girl in the elevator going through the memories, he said that he never saw his kids' faces again, and that if he was ever going to see them again, he'd have to go home in the real world. That's why he didn't wait for the top to stop spinning. As soon as he saw their faces, he knew he was home.

  • the best fil ever

  • the most epci scene ever

  • can someone plz explain to me, due to the fact that that thing was spinning means that all movie was a dream?

  • Inception is a movie that time will never touch.

I have watched this film 20 times and it never fails to amaze me.

The ending scene was so emotionally charged, Cobb was going home.

  • @XxShadowOfAgesxX or was he?

  • By far the best movie I have ever seen.

  • Tom Hardy ftw!!!

  • 'To take a leap of faith, yes...'

    *Ezio Auditore comes to mind*

I'm sure i'm not the only one.

  • @cathymaesk hhhhhh sure !! assassin's Creed !

  • Probably the most talked-about-after-the-movie ending. What is important is not whether or not it was all a dream, but that he finally leaves his burden and knows what's important to him --being happy overtakes the question of reality.

  • @heavenlycatlover3 yep. my option is, that ending was real life.. that thing spinning was going to fall u know :D

  • I have a question for those of you are saying that Cobb's totem is his wedding ring........after the job with Saito that failed he is in the appartment with a gun ready t kill himself and he tries the top as totem even if he is not wearing his ring (that means he is awake) and after the top stops spinning he is relieved.....someone explain this please.....thanks

  • cobb IS awake and his totem IS NOT the top. his totem is the wedding ring. in the very beginning of the movie when it shows him with saito, he is eating something and the camera moves up starting from his hand, where you can see his wedding ring. when he fell asleep on the plane, he was awake, and they carefully showed you his hand to show no ring. in all dream sequences, there is a ring and in reality there isnt. also, the blatantly obvious answer is that he already says the top was mals -___-

  • @msharrypotter10 this is the best explanation!thx

  • @msharrypotter10 i like your thought but he still used the top as totem every time he woke up....and never the ring.....i mean there is not even a reference at the ring how could someone possibly think it and understand it ?? o don't know man it's 50-50 your opinion may be right but i think the top is his totem and hes is not awake.......although i would like the opposite.......THAT MOVIE IS VERY CONFUSING :P:P:P !!!!

  • @KOSTISDFAN you can't really use a ring, all you have to do is check it to see if it is on, so it wouldn't be obvious if he was checking to see if he were in reality. the movie wouldn't have the same effect if they told us every little detail. they left some gaps and clues for us to figure out on our own. and im not completely sure, but i think he used mals totem to make sure he isnt in her dream. i think he still questions if he is really with her when he sees her or if he is really dreaming

  • Christopher Nolan films are the only films that dont need sequels im fine with this being the only inception they make

  • Christopher Nolan. films are the only films that dont need sequels

  • When I first saw this movie. I didn't see the beginning, so I thought the whole movie was a dream about the people on the plane. I guess that would've been good, too.

  • Listen carefully at the end 4:12 .Cobb's son: Look what I've been building!'' Cobb: ''What are you building?'' Cobb's son: ''We are building a house on a cliff!'' It's all a dream...

  • @Camielpianist90 Possibly..but it is Nolan after all. I'm sure that line is very deliberate either way. But then again they're outside playing in the grass. This man knows how to challenge his audience. :)

  • @Camielpianist90

One theory is that Cobb's token is his wedding ring. When he is in a dream he wears the wedding ring, in reality he does not. So if you follow that theory, the ending scene is not a dream but reality.

  • @IceColdBeerPlease me too XD

  • @SuperPivotBrothers please explain further

  • EPICNESS

  • They would never make a sequel. Nolan wouldn't allow it. Thank God.

  • Comment removed

  • my theory is simple. the totem wobbled at the end, if it's a dream, it will not have any changes in its spinning~~

  • @hastina2911 no i don't think you 're right.....if it continues spinning it's a dream, otherwise not......i could still be wrong :P

  • My question is, and its been bugging me as well. How does Saito drop cobbs charges? how does he have that power to have a presumed wife murderer just walk right through customs??

  • Can anyone confirm what brass instrument that is that starts in at 3:26? I believe it's a french horn being played by God himself, but I'm not sure

  • @tpstrat14 I believe at is French horn and trombone together

  • if you all notice, when leo wakes up on the plane, you can see that juno is holding her totem in her left hand, suggesting the possibility of reality somehow

  • @majafaja999 haha i call her juno too

  • @majafaja999 i can't really tell man.....the scene changes fast.........but i think it's her hair that shines in the sunlight.....check it i may be wrong

  • okay it wobbles but the dude tells aryagnee that you can't let anyone touch your scrotem and Maul and Saito are rubbin on D-cap's piece from the getgo so it doesn't matter

  • that kid REALLY needs a haircut

  • 10 people are stucked in limbo

  • DiCaprio doesn't do sequels.

  • This movie kinda reminds me of this company "the x directive", only without the dream part....weird stuff.

  • 3:01 Wait, i know that guy

  • whenever will they install a repeat button on youtube?

  • hell i would do the same thing to be with my children. who cares if it is not real. the reality is painful and dry anyway.

  • cob gets to the airport, then realizes that his passport has expired. asks Sito "you got any other competitors with unstable family relationships?"

  • i LOVE how everybody's there in the baggage claim nodding cobb

  • scarecrow, bane, and ras al ghul are on that plane!!! lol amazing ending tho in all seriousness

  • Joseph.Gordon.Levitt...

    Omigod That smile -3

  • epic ending is epic

  • why can't my arrivals to airports be this epic...all I get is heat rash, diarrhoea from undercooked plane food, rude flight attendants, jet lag and deep vein thrombosis

  • @majafaja999 my friend , I think your diarrhoea is epic ah ! ah

  • @majafaja999 Try flying first class next time.

  • @deflonable I was the airline pilot bro...tuff luck for us guys

  • @majafaja999 all u need is the song "time". ur arrival will go from 0 to epic in a sec.

  • that feel when trying to relive the first time you saw the ending.

  • Hans Zimmer did an amazing job here

  • I.think he is in a nightmare

  • The music is so perfectly composed, the actors so perfectly picked, the script so perfectly written. this movie was a rare phenomenon. i hope they do not spoil it by making a sequal

  • @LiamsOnCrack Well, that's unless Christopher Nolan decides to

  • actually they're trying to make a prologue. =/

  • @LiamsOnCrack Yea, you're completely right. The ending was so perfectly full, yet has little gaps that let you decide. I truly hope they don't make a sequel.

  • @LiamsOnCrack I think if something that ludicrous were to ever happen Nolan would have 0 involvement at all, he's a very smart man with smart people around him. But yeah, hopefully the studios won't try.

  • @LiamsOnCrack Not Christopher Nolan's genre

  • the little kids break my heart every time, they're so happy

  • 0:57...nuff said

  • i dont get it....

  • I keep whispering omg during this scene

  • you notice how he picks up the lil girl first but then hes holding the little boy? lol great movie still tho

  • @arias951 Haha nice notice

  • @hl2dark lol thank you still a badass movie

  • one of the most amazing songs to an ending ever. goosebumps every time

  • around 4:15 the kids say they're "building houses on cliffs." Ohhhh snapp....

  • I don't get it, it's a dream , or not ? Michael Caine says is real ..

  • @TheStreetHero23 it's for the viewer to decide. the real message is he left the top to be with his kids. he didn't care if it was real or not.

  • @TheStreetHero23 Its actually a dream. The thing he spinned (dont know what it is called) didnt stop spinning and if you watched the movie if its still spinning and never stop its not real.

  • @TheVipMan1986 It does kinda shake at the end if you look exactly which means it isnt a dream.

  • @Daluxer Well its for the viewers to decide

  • goose bumps

  • "Were buidling a house on a cliff". The most important line probably. In limbo of the asian man's dream, the house is on a cliff on the beach. The subconscious of the asian man leaked into this meaning cobb is in his dream.

  • even Bill Hassel sometimes thinks the top is The Master. Or Rory

  • Wish I had James' hair....

  • do you realize there's a mistake?

during the last minute cobb picks up his daughter when he sees his kids but is then shown holding his son

anywayz.. BEST MOVIE IVE EVER SEEN!

    but that cliffhanger was painful...

  • AWESOME-CEPTION

  • I love this movie. And I'm just... speechless for this ending.

  • Great story, director, actors and musical composition equals EPIC movie. Well done Nolan and company

  • @FrostedTreats Word!

  • It was all a dream, I use to read Word Up

    Magazine!

  • @Joop175 Biggie Smalls is the illest!

  • Man this movie is so fucking awesome.

  • I just finished watching this movie literally 5 minutes ago and I'm crying again over the ending. Most powerful ending I"ve ever seen!

  • @faxik

I just finish watching it too. And can you tell me what's the ending about?

How did this Asian guy cameback to life? And is the main character STILL dreaming at the end? Since that the thing on the table, didn't fall at the last scene. So i wonder. The mission in the plane was a success, but the main character is stuck in a infinity dream?

PLEASE, someone at least reply back to me. I really need to understand the ending much better.

  • @metalnat27 In the ending, since they all wake up in the plane, they all live in reality.

In the tiny amount of time that was left after the young architect left with the billionaire from the 4th layer (where the wife was), Cobble (Leonardo) managed to go to the Asian guy's palace (since he was left in the jumbo for 50 years or so after he died in the previous layer) and they both died there somehow (probably shot each other). This woke up them up.

  • @metalnat27

So by the end all of them are in reality and when Cobble sees his kids again he spins his totem and even though the movie ends without it falling, if you carefully watch and listen you can notice from the sound and the way it was moving that it would soon fall over; ultimately proving that it is reality.

Basically they get the job done and Cobble gets to go back home, where his children are.

  • @faxik The top was his wives totem, not Cobbs. If you watch the movie closer you will notice his wedding ring is his totem. He only has it on when he is dreaming, the ending scene he is not wearing it, therefore it is reality.

  • @faxik but his totem belonged to his wife who 'died' and she was the only one who new how her totem worked in her dream which she didn't tell Leonardo, kind of hard to explain it but Leonardo could still be stuck in his wifes 'ever lasting' dream until they wake up from it, which makes the movie even more great!

  • Such a powerful ending. It will be long before another movie affects me like Inception did.

  • wow the people argueing over the ending well it is reality as the kids are older and wearing different clothes, even in the film credits its got the older kids names

  • the most powerful idea and last scene to a movie, this should go down as one of the top 10 of all time

  • The totem at the end is irrelevant, Cobb has chosen which reality he believes to be real once he sees his kids so that is now his reality regardless of what level he was actually on.

  • great ending

  • It doesn't matter if its his wifes or not, it didn't spin perfectly and was about to topple over and he is the only person other then his wife that knew how to use it so therefore after his wife commited suicide it was under his ownership

  • This is not his totem. It's his wife's. So we may never know wether he's in a dream or not.

  • @thejackoss actually his totem is his wedding ring. Google it thats how i learned :D

  • Yea its the real world if the totem spun perfectly he would still be in a dream like when he was talking to the older saito but the totem is about to topple over so he is back in the real world

  • not in a dream retards. the top spinning starts to stop..

  • still in a dream... but he is relieved to see his children

  • There will be no sequel dipshits its over he's back in reality if they do a sequel it would defeat the purpose of the first besides the whole cast and crew said no to a second one

  • this song i must listen to right before the moment i die

  • Okay, to whoever below in the comments who said the totem was wobbling so it was real is a fucking idiot apparently you missed the camera pan to the brass top which is STILL FUCKING SPINNING. You're a moron, how about you digest the REALITY that you could possibly the biggest dipshit to have ever been birthed

  • @njs300800 wow, calm the F down. It's only a matter of interpretation. I'm not saying it's a dream, neither am I saying it's reality; so don't start hating me for that; i'm just saying you should calm down.

  • I don't know why people can't stop guessing the end of the movie.... just relax stop wasting sleep and wait for the 2nd movie to come out, you know there's going to be one they left tons of room for a sequel so chill

  • Chuck norris understood the ending on inception withourt looking at this video or any other

  • This is the best ending/music combination of all time

  • The only way to know the truth of the ending is to extract this information from nolan's mind when he's sleeping...anyone want to join my team and maybe get some batman secrets too?

  • It's ALL a dream!

  • What a movie

  • wow, a year later and this scene still affects me. Inception got robbed of a well deserved Academy Award!!!!

  • 10 People are stick in Limbo

  • Fuckk!! did the coin felt or not?

  • 3 words...AWWW---MAZE---ING!!!

  • I think it should've ended with the rest of the team ringing the door bell with flowers and chocolate... then all of them getting drunk and doubting their own realities.

  • I watch this at least once a day. Never gets old or boring. Fantastic scene.

  • Certainly the best movie of 2010,everytime you watch it you notice something new, sonething you never realized before.

  • @majafaja999

Oh look, the internet has provided you with a way to bull shit your way into sounding smart...

  • 10 people are still dreaming

  • Was difficult to hold back tears when he finally sees his children's faces

  • The most epic ending

  • It's real at the end, he's actually home

  • Comment removed

  • Leo's home town is LA!! :)

  • Leonardo's charging 25million a movie, so its got to be good. Check out, Blood Diamond, Body of Lies, The Aviator, Shutter Island, The Departed....

  • @calvinoespiranto agreed

  • The Music makes the scene.

  • Nolan! the best!

  • wait wait wait...did he ever wake up or did he just stay there..im lost

  • @weezy8925 He ignores the spindle. It doesnt matter anymore, as he knows he is home. He saw his kids faces again. And has no wedding ring
