  • Why does Brent always wear sweat shirts for tv gigs??

  • Bassist looks like a turtle...

  • are Vince Gill and Alec Baldwin one and the same?

  • WE MISS NASHVILLE!!

It was great to meet Vince Gill and Brent Mason there!!!

  • I'm glad I remembered to wear my alligator stompin' shows That's TELE POWER Boys! WOOO-HAAAA!

  • Brent Mason is the man.

  • Looks like the same scene from "Nirvana Unplugged"

  • That the same bass player frequently seen with Peter Gabriel?

  • I was in the studio in July watching Brent Mason playing on an album, that I co-wrote, for a European artist. Fantastic player and all around nice guy.

  • The best players on the planet!!! Great music!!!

  • All of them...great players,BUT!!! what about Brad Paisley??? he'd fit in just fine also...

  • @jerrysknob paisley doesn't hold a candle to brent or vince...

  • @belmontxr100 ..UMM PERHAPS YOU HAVEN'T HEARD THE PAISLEY BLUES ALBUM...ITS HARD TO FIND AND HES PLAYING WITH BB ...I GIVE YOU THEY ARE SUPER PICKERS BUT BRAD IS NO SLOUCH AT ALL...JUST MY OPINION...

  • Brent - Vince - everyone in the Band---Thanks so much for giving us this gift.

    I love the B3!

  • These two guys are all rounders when it comes to playing. Country, Blues, and probably anything else you could throw at them. Vince once turned down an offer to play with Dire Straits. And here is the killer, if you are recording a country cd and you come from anywhere in the world these guys will actually do the guitar work on it for you. You send it away to them and they send it back with them playing on it. Cost a fortune most likely. Fantastic talented musicians.

  • Where is this clip from? TV show?

  • thats some mighty fine-a pickin an-a strummin!

  • 1:56 VG is like.....uh oh. :)

  • Looks like BM is using AC30's?

  • perfect .....

  • I didn't know voldemort played bass

  • vince kills in tone and feel

  • Bassist looks like a turtle.

  • VGs Tele is the best I ever heard...And his playing is beyond great...

  • vince's guitar is goregous!

  • How can people say country sucks when you've got stuff like this?

  • @likuidflaememan Because all they've heard is the crap they play on the radio

  • What series of the Rivera amps does he play? It's hard to see on the video and I'm not very familiar w. all Rivera models. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • It doesn't come any better then this...Only different

  • Vince Gill's tone is unreal

  • Vince Gill is the GREATEST EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Masters at work!

  • I am not a fan of Vince Gill's music by in large. though pure and precise, I don't care for his voice at all, just not my taste BUT, that being said the man is a M A S T E R of strings, and can play in any genre. I have read all his Tele's and strats are 50's era, the white one being a 1953.

  • omg

  • Never heard a country musician play the blues so well as Vince does it in this video, the man is pure awesomeness!

  • two of my very fav country pickers, throw in Albert Lee and we have a hat trick..

  • @MOSKII58

  • @MOSKII58 There is a song with Vince Gill, Brent Mason and Albert Lee. It's Cluster Pluck, it also has Brad Paisley, Steve Wariner, Redd Volkaert, James Burton and John Jorgenson

  • Ps. Does anyone know what model of tele vince is playing here?

  • @kadensnga looks like the same original '50's something tele he always plays. i remember reading the neck pickup is dead lol.

  • @kadensnga 1953 telecastor, read that just a while ago when I read he just bought a 70 year old Martin. Both are on my dream guitar list along with an SRV signature "number one" strat and '53 Gold top

  • I have actually recorded with this group "The players", and picked with them some...:

Only the guitarist was brent rowan if thats not ironic. They are killer. we cut 5 of my originals.

  • @NikkiMackenzie3 That's exactly what I was thinking!

  • @NikkiMackenzie3 i thought it was light blue

  • Michael Rhodes on the bass. Fantastic!

  • a beautiful homenaje @ gatton R.I.P.

  • You can see the look in Vince's eyes: "I am going to slay this showboating redneck..."

  • Love it!!! Great to see real talented musicians like these guys doing it right.

  • The title of this song is quite appropriate...

  • Well, here I am...back again. Christ, I visit this video more than I do Burger King. lol

  • I have not yet found another tele player whose tone I love more than what Vince Gill can squeeze out of that thing.

  • I love that Brent Mason, who looks like a guy who's kid plays on your kid's basketball team, can just smoke every single stuck in the 80's shredder douche on the planet. This whole band is great. Vince Gill + Brent Mason = Country Music, mainstream country radio = pop music by and for white girls who like reality television and Forever 21.

  • Bassist looks like a turtle.

  • press 0 for country and 5 for blues

  • This is almost incredible! Is that guy Tony Levin??? This is a tight band example. So good!!!

  • ¡Que wasada!

  • Thought that was Tony Levin on the bass for a second, and was like damn they've really crossed over.

  • If you like this kind of music.......then move to Nashville.............I get to hear it every weekend...........it's not unusual to go to a diner and find Brent or Vince sitting next to you. Moved here from Brooklyn NY..........will die here.

  • If you like this kind of music.......then move to Nashville.............I get to hear it every weekend...........it's not unusual to go to a diner and find Brent or Vince sitting next to you at the counter in the local diner. Nashville is not lacking in grace or talent. I was born in Brooklyn...........moved here 15 years ago...........I will die here.

  • Brent is great, but Vince Gill has the sound and feel!!!!!!!!!

  • briiiiiiil

  • brent mason & albert lee are awful close ......styles similar.

  • Wow is all you really can say after seeing this clip.Huge huge fan of paul franklin and brent mason amd vince gill as well. This group of guys I would have to say are the best in the world at what they do.Just Ausome! My hats off to these guys.

  • what's the name of this TV show/special?

  • HE'S GOOD BROOKLYN STAND UP..KING OF THE PRETTY THUG STYLE KREW!!INDUSTRY APPROVED!!

  • I love this. I remember seeing Vince Gill years ago. Someone gave me tickets to his show, otherwise I never would have gone, but boy I was in for a shock, 'cause he was just fantastic. I had no idea how well he played guitar. Just goes to show ya...

  • lol what was the steel player doin at 2:05?? lol

  • @bag2289 do you know who he is ??? well if not let me introduce you to the BEST steel player in the bussiness ! the one and only PAUL FRANKLIN jr ,,,, he needs no explanation in what he does !!

  • @ricandness LOL!! I look more of his stuff up!! I just sounded like he fumbled a little at the beginning..

  • That was just one "incredible" jam! My brother just sent this link to me. (Thanks Bro!)

  • A lot of good playing going on in here.

  • Watched Brent Mason, John Hobbs, Paul Leim, Edgar Struble, Mike Porcaro and that new Bluegrass guitarist Nashville guy, whose name escapes me, perform live in the Faroe Islands in 2008, i have to say it was the greatest experience of my life :)

  • This is what i call redneck jazz (forgive me danny gatton wherever you are)

  • Who is that on the Hammond organ ?

  • @blackcavalier John Hobbs. Session guy in Nashville

  • Good guitarist appreciate good playing. They don't get insecure or all "freaked out petty" by another's effort. You can sit in the audience and critique others or you can be on stage playing, that determines what type of player you are...

  • @bigjimmyplays

    So true my friend!

  • 2 words........"This Rocks"!

  • kudos to Vince Gill for being the pro and volunteering to be on stage with Brent

  • Vince dont look too happy.I think Brother Brent Cooked Vinces Goose alittle!

Although Vince can smoke that TELE too! :)

  • @HerbWalker ugh, it is his show, and HE gave Brent the lead, plus everyone is showcased here and Vince is pleased. Maybe Clapton is watching this sometimes as Gill gives us all a lesson in a really cool slooooow hand.

  • wow 2 of my favourites together... just awesome..thanks to JP!!!

and to the 16 people that thumbs downed this...I feel sorry for your lives, may they get better and more filled with joy!

  • Amazing .... not once does Brent's fingers ever leave his hand !

Nashville slick , but one hell of an amazing player ...

and Vince , the guy has the mojo ....

makes me want to woodshed , even more ...

    nice stuff here

  • @999texmex "not once does Brent's fingers ever leave his hand!"

    Errrrrrrrr

  • @davidfong22 hes okay but why dont you listen to albert lee or steve morse better yet listen to albert collins better yet listen to roy buchanan this guys sounds country he cant play blues and dont even compare him to stevie ray listen to me too is sound better than this guy on a ten watt amp buy myself

  • @davidfong22 hes okay but why dont you listen to albert lee or steve morse better yet listen to albert collins better yet listen to roy buchanan this guys sounds countryhe can play but i sure as hell wouldnt pay to see this guy

  • @Rolandvids I think the phrase is "get off your high horse" So what do you think albert lee, steve morse stevie ray, roy buchanan would say about brent and vince'spicking? I would bet you hundred bucks it would be nothing but praise, because they are professionals and they know what a good guitar player sounds like. Brent and vince are two of the best guitars players in the world and they have been paid well or it. So how much did you gross last year playing guitar? thats what I thought.

  • William S Hart High 68'r in this Video I love it!!

  • i wish you would hear more about country-style guitarists in all the big guitar mags. i've been following guitarplayers for years, and, yet so much of this country stuff is STILL new to me. it just don't make sense!

  • @jteshuwah I'm sure you know how badass albert lee is then right.

  • Like this? Look up cluster pluck. Lot's of greats on one tune.

  • i keep coming back to this too ... SO good! but it makes me want to hear the piece they did just before this! - Vince is finishing up as this starts .... ANYONE have THAT????!!!! great stuff!!!!

  • @missinglowell the song before this one was Liza Jane.

  • Okay if you like this then you will SLOVE (super love) Robert Randolph!!! Robert Randolph is THE BEST pedal steel guitarist I have ever heard! He just came out with a new CD and it’s AMAZING! His solos of him rocking out are to die for! When I listen to his music, I can feel every note, The music really just runs through your body and there aren’t too many artists I can say that about!! Check him out! You won’t be anything less than AMAZED

  • awesome!

  • I'm a 40 something metal head and 20 year plus guitar player and these guys are killer'could listen to this all day!!!!!!!!!!

  • how could someone not like this?????

  • Never thought Vince was a great guitar player......I was wrong

  • @fordgtcobra

Oh yeah - Vince is one of the best chicken-pickers around.

  • reminds me of 60 s blues paul butterfield and such

  • I've read the comments, and can safely say the organ player looks like a cross between Garrison Keillor, Mike Brecker and Quentin Tarantino.

    And the music rules.

  • This likely the TELE that Vince lost in the recent flood in Nashville. 1953 Telecaster, along with a lot more. They say APP. 1 Mil. $ worth. Brutal !

P.S. -the Bassist is one of the PREMO Players in the World.

  • Maxx, I agree 100 percent. This is some of the finest music on the internet, and all this dork can do is rag somebody's appearance. Anyway . . .

Every single player in this video is at the absolute top of their game. Just listen to the incredible vibe here. I just love it!

    Dave Skowron

    Red Bear Trading Company

  • @RedBearTrading You guys have the absolute BEST picks around. I can't play with anything else now that I've tried yours. Fantastic! Just sayin'.

  • @clesterrific

Well thank YOU very much! We appreciate your kindness. And guess what - Brent has finally got ahold of one of our BearClaw thumb picks. I haven't heard back from him yet on it, but we're hopeful that he'll like it.

    Dave

  • @RedBearTrading Dave, If this is some of the best music on the internet, they must be using your picks... because they are the best too!

  • tabs anywhere?

  • michael rhodes on bass

  • Brents a really good friend of mine actually all these guys. Were proud to have these guys in Nashville. I work with most of em' and I'd promise you they'd tell ya ya outta hear some these guys no ones heard of that aren't on tv. lol. I love living here.

  • OK- Brent's timing/phrasing seems a little off at 1:28... I'm not nit-picking, I just think it's reassuring that Brent is human and therefore not perfect. Vince Gill sounds pretty damn good, too!

  • @spanfreckl Brent stumbled but he never fell .... Wish I could "stumble" through songs like he does :-)

  • a great way to start your morning listening to this! thanks brent and all

  • Maxx61 you're right !!

    let's enjoy this music

  • Don't try this at home. Well I don't think that will be ignored. Every guitarist would want to play like this! Kick ass playing!

  • is that a 5 string fender bass?

  • OMG to the pedal steel solo!!!

  • @fonpeg i agree, paul franklin is amazing

  • never seems too amaze me ! gift and doesn't even have a big head! love it!!!

  • Monster Mason, Vince has soul. Both great!!

  • Tele's are fun to play

  • Indeed they are I've one myself

  • it's cause they change keys right there, so it sounds jarring

  • @TCOB247

you're right, Mason ends his solo on a horrible note; Franklin's beautiful playing make it even more apparent...

  • the end of Mason's solo sounds fine to me. you guys sure are nitpicking an incredible performance by a great band.

  • @TCOB247 I think even Brent would agree. He ends his solo on an E and the key changes to G there. And yes, we're nitpicking, of course I think he's an incredible musician. That note just stuck out like a sore thumb

  • is there a dvd of this concert? God would I love to get it

  • This is why I love music so much!

  • Brent (A)Mason is the greatest.

  • If I had to choose between having kids and being able to play like Brent Mason, well, I would seriously consider it...

  • what, having kids (smiling)

  • Your opinion...Oh yeah but man can this cat play that bass...gotta love his talent.

  • @wookieproductions what do you look like? oh thats right, we cant tell, cause nobody is watching you rip it up on youtube.

  • @wookieproductions

Unbelievable that's all you have to say about this.

  • thaha..indeed :D

  • Brent Mason and Vince Gill, great players.

  • The entire band is made up of some of the hottest players in Nashville...or anywhere else you wanna look.

  • Two of my FAVS! Ive been trying to play this in bands for 25+ years hahahah TONE MONSTERS!

  • 1:56 Vince looks booooored haha

  • Great video, lots of heavy hitters on stage here. Paul Franklin, Vince Gill, Brent Mason. Some real greats here, thanks for posting

  • this creeps... so awesome!

  • I keep returning to this video (and others) after a year and it never ceases to amaze me how much crap litters the commentary. Why can't youtube critics just enjoy the music without turning every damn guitar video into the Olympics?

  • It's a byproduct of musical immaturity, in my opinion. I used to get all caught up into myself - we all have phases.

  • @Maxx61 ...because.... how many guitar players does it take to screw in a light bulb??

  • @dickyp1 5....one to screw it into the socket, and the other 4 to stand there, watch, and say "i could have done that better, cleaner AND faster"

  • Sry i was mistaken it is paul franklin on the steel.

  • Sure Vai and others are great players (in their sleep, if you like) but the brilliance of Brent Mason is his studio work and producing riffs and melodies that make records better. Check out "Steamy Windows" by K.Chesney.

  • Define country guitar.

  • @toscanology

    a $6.40 Wards catalog order that gives a child a chance 2 play? 1966, dude. 4 real.
