Oh I forgot to mention that the Indian merchant booths just about block your entire view of the entire area. I would love to start a movement to force them out of there and tear down the complete disaster they built. It looks so much better in this video as you can clearly enter the pedestal monument, which now seems more like a drain than a pedestal. Don't believe me....check it out yourself.

I was just there two days ago on our way back from Telluride to Phoenix. Paying seems to be an Indian thing. They have completely changed the entire monument. there are Indian merchant booths surrounding the place, they added ten times the concrete and unnecessary brick wall structures making it look like an auditorium. I never got to experience the old monument as is depicted in this video but I wish I did because they ruined it and I'll never go back.

I passed by that on a road trip, it's wierd since it's just a random building i nthe middle of nowhere and signes everywhere saying you are entering a state. It's stupid how they make you pay though.
