  • The Insignia is awful (had an SRi 160 diesel) and the mondeo is no better. If you are going to buy a car, pay the extra few K and buy a C class merc and when you have to sell it you will make your money back. The insignia is just pure shit. Even consider a Honda over this car if you are looking for a decent car

  • actually, the insignia is in america as a Buick

  • actually, the insignia is in america as a buick

  • nice car like the shape i prefer saloon version

  • @sourov Saloon is more expensive, and less practical.

  • Had the old Mondeo and Vectra as company cars. Vectra wasn't exactly exciting but Mondeo was definitely NOT the "Passat rival" people talk about either. They were both good workhorses with ac and cd.

New Mondeo looks ok outside, but cheap inside and it has weaker, less powerful engines for same money.

Academic to split the rest eg handling / ride. Neither are track cars! Both very good at what they do.

Overall Insignia wins for me, Ford have way high list prices for co. drivers like me.

  • Vauxhall? I only know Opel created by Germans.

  • Mondeo has a HORRIBLE interior.

  • Vauxhall is an British car you can check it on Wiki i thought it's an germany brand but no.

  • @Luccasio1 The thing is though is that nobody knows due to the fact that both were swallowed up by GM before the Depression and they just combined and became a European car company

  • Come on, Please tell true. First jet engine tested by germans, radar was also german. After US took that (like british) and start to use it.....

  • Basically its pretty simple, Vauxhall is a subsidiary of Opel the same way as Opel is a subsidiary of GM. Opel AG, Germany (formerly Opel Europe, Switzerland) is the european arm of GM and responsible for development/design/manufacturing of small, compact cars, sedans and vans for the global market. In the UK its rebadged Vauxhall, Australia Holden, USA Buick. Vauxhall stopped developing cars in the 1970´s, its sole responsibility is to assemble these cars with the driver cell on the other side.

  • I'm not the biggest Vauxhall fan, but this car really looks quite nice, esp from the rear 3/4 view....however as the guy said in the vid, Becouse of that very, steep roof, the amount of rear Head room is shocking!!...i'm not that tall ( 5ft 8in ) and i could barely sit upright in the back.....the cabin is the by far the best from Vauxhall so far, all with high quality fit and finnish....but for a car of that size...there is no rear head room,..lots of rear legroom, but no head room .. :) thanks.

  • Vauxhall is English. Opel should stop putting fake badges on their cars. If you reply to this comment, you will not get a response, goodbye.

  • @LukeNAESA10 You retard. Vauxhall is the one who puts fake badges, because Opel is who builds the cars.

  • @derbigpr500 We do not have Opel's over here. The only people who drive Opel's out here are dumbess foreigners from Germany who drive on the wrong side of the road causing accidents over here. We have Vauxhall, they have Opel. The end. And at the end of the day Opel is owned by GM which makes it American. Ciao.

  • @LukeNAESA10 First of all, the only people who drive in the wrong side of the road are you. And the other thing... Opel is a part of GM, but that doesnt make it American. Its still a german manufacturer. Volvo is owned by chinese company...but will you say its a chinese car? No. Jaguar is owned by indian company, will you say its indian and not british? Bentley is owned by VW,but you wont say its german will you.... its pure ignorance.

  • @derbigpr500 No I won't say they're German because they aren't German... and quite a lot of German cars are made in loads of different countries anyway. And yeah you can follow the Germans all you like but to me this is a Vauxhall and you can do nothing to change my view on that. Also, you're Croatian.. what have you ever done for the world? Oh you're right nothing.

  • @LukeNAESA10 Hahah you dont know what you're talking about. What has croatia given to the world?. Just gonna mention some things that are used every day...electricity (nikola telsa) and 1000's of other patented tesla's inventions, parachute, torpedo, a pen, a neck tie, quarantene, dactyloscopy, airship with metal frame, multiple nobel prizes, international awards...a country which had health care system in 14th century while people in your country were dying of simple cold's..etc.

  • @derbigpr500 bez obzira, takve rasprave baš nemaju nikakvu svrhu a on je potpuni idiot

  • @LukeNAESA10 The fact that you cant accept that Opel (rebranded as Vauxhall) is a german car just proves how ignorant you are. Vauxhall just puts their badge on Opel's. Opels are designed, developed and engineered in GM's headquarters in Germany.

  • @LukeNAESA10 Oh i remembered one more thing that Croatia did.... kicked you off the euro 2008 football cup...ahahahah, and at Wembley...how humiliating must that have been. Looser kid , stay in your basement.

  • @derbigpr500 We've done other things, for example.. take over the world, have the largest financial centre in the world (including America, Japan). Have the most famous city in the world, London, also invented the worlds first vertical take off Harrier, we also invented the internet, we mass produced steel for the world, generator, electric motor, first jet engine, evolution, radar, body scanner, and the torpedo is ours, I have a basement, at least, you live in a box, in the asshole of Earth.

  • @LukeNAESA10 YOU invented nothing. YOU as YOU PERSONALY, certain individuals invented something and I'm really sick of that colective crediting which is communist-like. generator and electric motor are nikola tesla's inventions, you idiot, and he is a serb who worked in america

  • Solid Car...

  • Just a note to clarify, for all of you commenting about how it is a Buick or an Opel, Vauxhall cars are rebadged across the world as; Chevrolet, Saturn, Holden, Buick, Opel, Daewoo, Saab, (Renault and Citroen*)

    *rebadged Vauxhall vans

  • @tyr4nt94 Vauxhall's are Opel's with deifferent logos, just have to clarify Vauxhall is owned by OPEL..

  • @visiteur00000

Vauxhall and Opel are both owned by GM actually, Vauxhall was also founded first in 1865, making horse carraiges, Opel was founded in 1927, 2 years after GM bought Vauxhall, which is why they are, in effect rebadged Vauxhalls. All vauxhalls are first designed in Germany, but first sold in the UK hence making them rebadged vauxhalls

  • @tyr4nt94 Opel is Owned by Magna ... Opel is the designer of Insignia,Astra, etc Vauxhall doesn't create any car they are only Opel and Holden rebadged.

  • @visiteur00000 Magna pulled out of that deal a long time ago... GM still own Vauxhall and its subsidaries, after all I have a 2010 plate Astra and on the boot hydraulic arms they are both branded GM, as well as under the bonnet and boot lid and as i've said already, all new Vauxhalls/Opels are designed in Germany but first reproduced in the UK in Vauxhalls Luton based factory, Vauxhalls are rebadged across the world as Opel, Chevorlet, Buick, Holden, Saturn, Daewoo and Saab.

  • @visiteur00000 To add, the Vauxhall insignia was first sold in the UK in November 2008 with the VXR version readily availiable, Opel was first sold in February 2009 and its OPC version wasn't ready for sale until mid-July 2009. The Buick Regal ( Vauxhall Insignia) is yet to be launched in America, it is set for release in early 2011, so before again you argue the Opel owns it or whatever, make sure you have your facts right first...

  • @tyr4nt94 It is not the fact that it was sold. It is the fact that it was invented by Germans (Opel), The quality is German and not British. And wait who rebadges cars? Vauxhall, it rebadges Holdens and Opels for Britain. Why do you think that in the entire Europe the Insignia is sold with the Blitz logo and not the Griffin? Because Vauxhall is only for Britain and Opel is for Europe and it is made by Germans.

  • @tyr4nt94 And who makes more money? Opel of course. Who has to close factories in Belgium and all over Europe? Opel again. Because Opel is the bigger one who provides all to Vauxhall (exept for Holden models).

  • @visiteur00000 well the reason it makes more money and has more factories is because it is Europe... duh its bigger than the UK, Holdens, are rebadged as Vauxhalls and Opels, in the UK and Europe, and all Vauxhalls sold in the UK except for Holdens are made in the UK, in its Ellsmere port or Luton factory. As I said before, new vauxhalls are *DESIGNED* in Germany but first *BUILT* in the UK.. Vauxhall has also been established longer so as I say again, they are indeed rebagded VAUXHALLS

  • @tyr4nt94 Look Vauxhall rebadges cars. Opel hasn't rebadged any Holden Vauxhall Chevrolet (exepet the Electric on I think it's the Impera, and also utility vehicles) and just look who was the firs to built an Astra? Opel of course, who built the Kadett? Opel again.

  • If I lived in Britain, I would buy this car. This car should come to America as a Chevy or something.

  • it's coming to america as a Buick

  • It is! As a Buick though! Look up ''2011 Buick Regal''

  • @desimunda116 Buick Regal.

  • @desimunda116 You could get it in a America if you wish, just re badged as a Chevrolet Cruze.. As both companies are owned by G.M

  • @kd84afc it's actually a Buick Regal in the States. Chevy Cruze is a compact sedan that replaced the Cobalt.

  • @desimunda116 I knew it was something re-badged in the states, I saw the Cruze in pictures the interior looks very similar to the insignia that's why i assumed it was the Cruze..But I noticed America is getting alot of cars that europe is gets.. Like the Saturn Astra is identical to the Vaxuhall Astra

  • @kd84afc actually, the interior design is very different obviously not from the same car.

  • @desimunda116 it is sold in the US as a Buick.....

  • @modernflyboy Now it is, not at the time I made that comment

  • @desimunda116 so why did you say that it was?

  • @modernflyboy I didn't. When I made my first comment over a year ago, there wasn't a Buick Regal in the market. Now, however, there is a Regal.

  • @desimunda116 weird, cause youtube is telling me that it is only 2 months ago.

  • @modernflyboy lol youtube fail :P

  • Lol, lack of leg room? The insignia is one of the taller station wagons...

  • Vauxhall is vauxhall and its always been shit

  • This car I believe has had problems with its power steering.

In the back it is very cramped and the steering wheel does not adjust high enough.

I was very disappointed by this effort from Vauxhall.

  • Insignia is a very nice looking car. Best one since the Calibra for sure. But the Calibra still looks better IMO. ;¬)

  • I own a ford mondeo as a business car and i drove the new vauxhall insignia at my retailer last week, to me the quality inside looks really better than in the ford mondeo! altough im really satisfied with my mondeo, but i really love the insignia design

  • mhm.. I think the Opel Insignia tested in the video was one of the basic models, my dad has bought the Opel Insignia Elite Sport Tourer 2.0CDTi (180bhp), and it is magnificent! The exterior is more appealing with 20" rims and the interior, with its cream leather seats and sat nav. Whatcar should of gotten the higher spec model so people would be more satisfied.

  • I'd like to hear Jeremy Clarkson's comments on this car. If my memory is right, the loudest (and first) encouragement to build this car came from him (when the first concept photos were released).

  • plus the vauxhall is 100% more comfortable and much better refined.

  • It's a remake of the CALIBRA.

  • barthoedemaker

The Calibra had no rear doors.

  • vectra not calibra. calibra was like the coupe

  • next year this comes to the US as a Buick, slightly enhanced but basically the same

  • Great car!

  • Why buy a Vauxhall when you can have a shit, unreliable badly made Ford?

  • lol i hate fords, i own one though, it breaks down all the time... vauxhall is much more reliable.

  • I am a BIG fan of opel....my first car was a vectra i till now i still miss it....i have a 2009 mondeo now, and for the truth being said it is the BEST, it looks good 4 me...not as good as the insignia but it still very posh and brilliant....it is roomier....better handling....better quality inside....more reliable(as what car servay said)....it is more practical, and the engine range is suburb....i think the mondeo is the best car in this segment!!!!

  • insignia has a much better quality cabin, and believe me, after owning a ford for a year, fords are not reliable. my dad has a vectra, and had an astra before it, it was very reliable . fords maybe good to drive on dry roads, but that stiff suspension set up causes it to slide all over the place!!! i hate ford now.

  • no it doesn't have better quality inside...i tested both and it doesn't....but i addmit that the insignia interior is more appealing than the mondeo....opel is reliable but not as much as ford...c what car servay.....moreover u r talking nonsense about the sliding all over the place....it has ESP, and it u get the Titanuim X as i have it has four wheel drive ind its traction with the ground is much more than the opel!!!!

  • i dont care what "what car" says, i speak from my own experiance, and i have tested both cars and although im not a vauxhall or ford fan, i would simply take the vauxhall every time. and sliding thing, im not strictly talking about the new mondeo, im talking about all fords in general, and as far as i know, there is no 4x4 version in the mondeo range.

  • You are tripping. Yank cars are shite like water beds on wheels.

  • the car looks awesome in white.

  • great car i have one and i have pre ordered the vxr version and before you ask im a vauxhall dealer so i can pre order it

  • I wouldn't admit to that if I were you. I haven't been to a Vauxhall dealer that wasn't completely incompetent. It's why I no longer have one and will never buy one again. Shame because the cars aren't that bad.

  • not bad going, for a 16 yr old

  • What car is always PRO-FORD....don't listen to them. The Vauxhall Insignia is far better than the ugly Mondeo!

  • Yea mondeo sedan is in my opinion one of the ugliest cars on the road, the combi is a little better but still ugly. its mainly the rear of the mondeo i dont like.

  • WERY WERY GOOD CAR, I HAVE IT!!!

  • one of the most beautiful Opel/Vauxhall ever made!

  • The Ford Mondeo is one of the most overrated cars ever made. "Driver's car"? It drives well for a fwd midsize car, but a driver's car? Hmmm... the Mk3 ST220? maybe... but the rest f the range is boring and the Mondeo Mk4 is one fat bastard, btw.

Reliable? Most of the Mk1 and Mk2 Mondeos are in pretty bad shape these days and it's constantly below average in the J.D power survey.

Looks? It has always been a bland nondescript car. The Mk4 is no exception.

  • @oldandmoderntimes

Blame GM not the brits. It's their decision on what badge for a country. I guess you never heard saturn/ holden/ chevrolet astra. may be you should ask the Australian and americans to stop rebadging you precious opels even though most models are developed and built in both UK and Germany anyway.

  • @oldandmoderntimes It's just a different brand for a different country. whats the big deal? oh cares about the badge!

  • @oldandmoderntimes its gm arsehole american

  • @oldandmoderntimes ROFLMAO! :D

  • @oldandmoderntimes WE HAVE VAUXHALL AND THEY HAVE OPEL

  • @oldandmoderntimes We aren't pretending anything, in America it's a Buick, and a Chevrolet.

  • @oldandmoderntimes You can blame that on GM. They own both brands. Or have controlling stake. Opel is GM's German division and Vauxhall their British division. Buick has the same cars now in the U.S. Rebadged Opel. that's not a bad thing, I think they look good. At least these gens.

  • @oldandmoderntimes Who gives a shit, most people de-badge their cars anyways.

  • Very nice car!

  • Love the whole car minus the grill.

  • Pick the insignia, i know vauxhalls aren't that cool, but their cooler than citroens. Plus this is such a better looking car;-)

  • I like the Insignia , but i like the Citroen C5 too. I don't know which one too choose????

  • No wonder the Insignia is car of the year, seen a load on the road already!

  • I have to admit I like the Insignia very much but I`d go for C5 (it`s quite different from other cars in the class and it`s the most comfortable car in the class among other things).

  • It is a nice car. It is like a cheaper mercedes. Not as big though.

  • SKoda superb and mondeo kills this thing. Nice for a vauxhall though. But i just dont like vauhalls for some reson

  • opel insignia is a copy of vauxhall insignia or what???

    they look exactly the same

  • vauxhall and opel are the same! so it`s normal they look the same...because opel is vauxhall

  • It's a very good car. And why is it a bad thing that it has the Mercedes looks?

  • i love it. suddenly everyones a car expert. brilliant.

at the end of the day vauxhall will always be shite, cheap and cheerful car, and hopefully they will stop ripping of the mercedes chasis.

  • bfhdcgtdrbv dexz vbrdzsfcg

  • Americans make good cars i prefer to drive a dodge tho Beautiful car tho vauxhall

  • yeah but its only thier opinion, mondeos compared totheir rivals are unrefined, thirsty and have horrible resale values.

  • £17,000! it will be worth £3/4k in 3/4 years time! and i hope they have cured all the previous faults of the old vectra models. but i would still prefer it to a mondeo, what is it with these motoring programmes and publications, they love the mondeo, youd think ford paid them or something! i think mondeos are crap new and old model.

  • It is the motoring journalists job to compare cars and their job involves driving all different types of cars to give an honest review. in their proffesional opinion the mondeo is better to drive.

Youtube is full of people with pointless meaningless opinions that they feel the need to express on here, and to say something is crap without giving a valid reason to why you think something is crap just makes your opinion pointless.

  • i fully agree,my wife wanted an smax, big mistake.thirsty, unreliable very expensive and what makes me laugh the most is how they rave about ford tdci engines, rattly smokey and very sluggish, ford must be paying motoring journalists with huge bribes.the customer service at ford is the worst iv e ever experienced.on looks alone this vauxhall is worlds apart from that overweight mondeo with its pathetic diesel engine range .

  • yeah i see what your saying, i must say that this is nothing new, from way back in the 80s its been like this, making ford cars to be something they are not!

  • OK Simon,Mr car expert, what weight The latest Mondeo is a Mazda 6 ,For a car to be bigger and lighter is no easy feat, dont you think?I have driven Fords my family also all of their lives, they are reliable economical and quit nippy, granted ive never been a diesel head but the TDCI has great reviews must be for a reason, are you paranoid?is everyone including Jeremy getting a back hander for their potato comments?I dont think so.

  • diesels, great reviews, obviously the people who write about fords have nt heard about the common fly wheel problem on diesel models. ford don t like to mention it for obvious reasons that is until the warranty is up our smax had it at 6k. this would set you back approx 2k its an engine/gr box out job after warranty is up but of course they still get good reviews so they must be good.

  • right o flexicock its car expert simon here, just beeen looking at car data for ford mondeo from an official ford wesite. ford mondeo new shape 2008 1.6 petrol model(smallest engine available) kb wght 1437kg. 2001 ford mondeo 2.0 dci(big diesel engine should weigh more) kb wght 1423kg.when i went to school 1437kg was greater than 1423kg oh dear...

  • But Thighman, its per pubic inch .weight to volume ratio on the ford mongo.but in the mazzy its weighbridge live weight, theres a slight difference in the slight we have here.

  • mock all ya like flexicock the only idiots are people who buy these hidious monstrositys as someone has already pointed out 17k approx new ,yrs time lucky to get 4k .

  • Shamen, joking aside,I have heard of the problem on a friends transit, youve got me thinkin now, thats no mean feat.Unfortunately the idiots are over paid so its justice in a way that they over pay.But it would be nice to drive a virginal vehicle at a reasonable price.

  • Does anyone else see acura tl?

  • @LukeXgamer

Opel has designed the Insignia in Rüsselsheim (Germany). So, i dont think that Opel is "shitter" or what you mean, because Vauxhall has only developed the right-driving of this car. Design MADE IN GERMANY!

  • Wow, Vauxhall are making some nice cars, and as for Opel. It's the same company, but Opel is shitter, end of.

  • I hate GM so much when talking about badges, don't forget this car also called Buick Regal in US. So when you are in it, you really don't know whether you are in a British, german, american or australian car...

  • Yeah, only in the UK they call it Vauxhall, in the rest of europe they call it Opel.

  • and in new zealand and australia there called holden

  • no....they sell different cars. Vauxhall, Opel and Holden are owned by GM. Holden sells a different Barina, the Commodore, Captiva, Colorado, Epica, the performance HSV series brand, a new Aussie deisgned small car to replace Astra and a new Aussie designed mid-sized car, Australia's version of the Insignia, but based on the same architecture. Holden and Vauxhall are only connected through Holden giving Vauxhall the VXR8 (HSV Cubsport R8) for export sales. Any other time they are different

  • alright sonshine settle your self down a bit tiger bit early in the morning to be playing up isnt it princess ! , i was just saying thats all pal !! , i didnt ask for vauxall, opel&holdens life history of how they came about skipper take it easy x

  • The Insignia FUCKS Mondeo

  • Still don beat the Ford Mondeo

  • Ok let me explain it to you, cars sold in the UK are badged as Vauxhalls, allways have, and hopefully allways will be. I could just as easily say why is the Vauxhall Astra badged as an Opel in Germany, when it was designed in the UK. Stop being an idiot.

  • opel is teh best

  • opel vauxhall are the same company owned by GM just they are badged different vauxhall in the uk and opel in main land europe and buick in the usa when it is released there and the steering wheel has always been on the right in the uk and was so for most cars untill the model T ford and other cars came along with left hand drive so the sheering wheel is on the oringinal side. hope that answers please do some research before shouting your mouth off

  • nice car

  • fantastic car vauxhall and a lot better looking than the mondeo

  • it's also invented in Germany in Opel's Design Headquarter ! GM uses the design for it's other companies. (PS: GM owe's over a Billion to Opel which it can't pay !)

  • That car has good looks

  • Its an Opel Insignia

  • In the US it's a Chevy Impala and a Saturn something---

  • Saturn Aura i think.

But this is much better can then chevy and saturn.

  • Aura is based on outgoing Vectra

  • Actually it's the Chevy Malibu, Saturn Aura, and Pontiac G6 that are similar to the last generation Opel/Vauxhall Vectra. This car is all-new and whatnot. Hopefully GM won't give Saturn the axe and we'll see a version of this wonderful car in the States...and hopefully if it does arrive here it won't be a cheapened imitation.

  • im afraid the the Aura replacement(whatever they will be calling it) in north america will get the full treatment from GM's Cheapness Division™

  • I'm sure you're right. I just read a couple days ago that GM plans on making the Insignia a replacement for the Buick LaCrosse. That means they'll give it the full cheapness AND ugliness treatment. And I can guarantee we won't ever see the stylish hatchback or practical station wagon versions. Just a dumpy knock-off sedan with a stretched wheelbase and low-rent interior.

    Those bastards. :P

  • AMEN! we always get the short end of the stick, this car is too refined to be a saturn

  • Neat Car

  • oh dear vauxhall, ford strike again.

  • Vauxhall is not as before any more, I hate the idea that GM design a car and badge whatever it suits best for the country. This car is not even UK spec designed in the 1st place. It's badged as a chevrolet in south america and HSV is australia for crying out loud!

  • I do like the Insignia....sat in it at the Motorshow and really liked it.
