  • Coolsville daddy-o. Straight from the fridge..dig?!

  • The only problem with this type of song is that it helped to render the real Beat Generation meaningless. Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg -- they hated these parodies. It was bad publicity for their movement. Bob Denver's beatnik on the Dobie Gillis Show was also something the real beats detested. Now, I personally think this record was entertaining. I liked it. But I can see why those authors were pissed. It really poured a lot of cold water on what they stood for.

  • is this the mamie van doren song

  • not many people know that Blank generation was made from this

  • Sneaky Pete, yeah

  • Very "hip"record, brother. ; ) What kind of turntable you use?!

  • Fantastic tune! Dor (Rod backwards) was actually a pseudonym for Rod Mckuen who made some killer beatnik records in his own right. Gotta ask man, what type of record deck are you playing that off, it looks pretty damn cool!

  • @johnnydeve Hi Johnny , thank for your kind comment, the turntable is a Marantz 6300 with a direct drive manufactured in the mid 70s. The other one I use for shellac platters is a Lenco L78.

  • oh i love this...hilarious

  • I always wanted to get more of him but I could never find anything besides a couple of songs

  • I think Richard Hell owes more than a note or two to this record!

  • Who the hell is Richard?

  • Richard Hell and the Voidoids did The Blank Generation in 1977 - basically the same tune. You can find on this site.

  • hahaha, you're right, it seems that the beat generation was as blank as the punk generation
