I think the entire film was an allegory for the events leading up to and following WWII. At one point Liz remarks that her grandfather's generation was "glued to the theater, not realizing what was happening around them". Walter is afraid that once they have walked the yellow brick road (a metaphor for WWII, possibly specific to the dropping of the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki) they would be unable to find their way back to what they were before, ie before the war began. Very interesting film.
really enjoyed the movie...even though i like my endings tied up in a little bow, this was not the case. i found myself panicking the whole movie and genuinely as confused as the characters were. AWESOME.
really trippy movie, i enjoyed it a lot. however the problem with it is that it doesn't have a beginning middle and end. if you're a person that enjoys a very conclusive and explanatory ending this movie is not for you, in fact you find yourself asking even more questions at the end than you did at the beginning, sort of like the movie 'kill list'. Still, really creative movie and well worth watching.
Basically, the movie theater is where all the people of friar ended up in, and now they are stuck in some different universe. Totally unrealistic. A better ending would have been carnivorous moving trees or something.
Quite honestly, this was one of the most terrifying movies I've ever seen.
I've seen "The Ring", "The Grudge", "The Exorcist", "Insidious"... etc, and I'd put this one next to those. I'm usually not into movies where people are stuck in a situation and end up disappearing one by one, but this one really got me. Those of you who thought it was horrible: Some things are better, more mysterious, and/or scarier when they don't make sense.
This is quite possibly the WORST film I have ever seen. It's just mind numbingly stupid. It's like Blair Witch Project and The Shining had sloppy inbred hobo sex and this film is the mentally defective mutated offspring.
@zziwhcs180 It is really dumb. They have like a flashback through time and they're stuck in the past in the movie theater now. It's stupid as shiiiiiiiit!
I watched this movie. It really honestly didn't make any sense. Usually in fucked up movies you can kinda gather some sense behind it, but this one was a complete wreck. The plot moved too quick, you didn't even get a chance to understand the characters. Just really fucked up- concept and VERY freaky though.Just wish a little more was explained,
I liked it. Don't let the haters ruin it. Judge it for yourself. Definitely worth a watch. Better than most of the unoriginal crap movies they make nowadays
very good movie, because there was something original. i hope there will be second part, at least so they show what happens with the sir after he watches the picture show doom
@hero120 that would be awesome but they should make it that a boy or girl goes insne and thinks there in oz then theres some kinda emerald city ruins with a dwelling stap happy murderer in the woods also with insane and scary versions of the scarecow, tinman, tiger and witch. sound good?
superfucky! this has to be the most pathetic ball of crap that i have ever had the misfortune of watching. please do not waste your time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yep..go on isohunt or piratebay...isohunt is the shit tho ;) u have to download a client(program) called vuze..once u finish downloading,u can find a lot of movies on the 2 websites i gave u..always download the one with good ratings n nice reviews ;P
Don't watch it. I just finished watching this HORRIBLE movie. Omg I want my 1hr and 40min back. Jeezus, out of all the movies I've seen this is by far the worst one ever.
i just suffered through this film. what a piece of crap. had great potential and was totally shit. none of the mysteries were answered. why did all those people leave town and walk up the mountain???? the movie never answers this!
@SoSoRandom123 Yes It did, you just want to be spoon fed the answer. People like you are the reason movie goers are subjected to predictable movies plots all the time.
@MultiLex101 thanks for your arrogant answer, but no, this movie doesn't answer any questions and is a total piece of shit. i'd rather see a predictable movie that MAKES SENSE rather than this poor attempt at mystery.
@theLEMONcitrus The ending is wizard of oz related, in fact the whole movie is i think. The main guy sacrifices every thing to reach the final destination at the end of the yellow brick road and gain the reward of seeing the "ultimate truth/reality" .a.k.a. his "OZ", instead he reaches the end only to be subjected to a false reality,( represented by the projection he was forced to watch), it was then he realized that his journey was a wasted effort, his guilt and regret then drove him insane pt1
@theLEMONcitrus Sorry in my last comment i should have written "emerald city" instead of "OZ".
final pt. Just to prove my point, If you read the original wizard of oz book i think the first thing they are forced to do when they reach emerald city is where green tinted glasses, so they are presented with a false vision emerald city (a.k.a. a false reality) whilst the real emerald city is basically hidden from them, same concept in this move. Does that answer your question?
@hero120 Well...there is the very unrecognized sequel to that movie, "Return to Oz" which was a lot more creepier and the complete opposite of the original Wizard of Oz. It is still a Nostalgic classic. If you haven't seen it, I suggest checking it out, just saying. :)
@reborny123 -- I have seen the what was called a sequel to the Wizard of Oz and it was dark I am not sure about horror-- Yet I would say tap dance the hell out It was good. And yeah it was returned to Oz.
This was a very interesting movie. The ending... Oh man, the ending, was a ton of WTF?!? (in a good way.)
