  • At his very best in my humble opinion.

    Different class.

  • Brilliant! Brilliant!

  • Why isn't this brilliant performance out on DVD ?

  • Truly entertaining and one is never quite sure what he is going to say next

  • Genius !

  • Admired by virtually every other comedian on the planet. That's how good Peter Cook was! Genius!

  • Peter cook odd quirky different - brilliant

  • Allegations not allowed? Does that mean I cannot accuse Peter Cook of being the funniest man on this planet -- EVER!? lol

  • Football is about nothing unless it's about something..........

  • 'and when the game's over... get 'em in again'.

  • where is the comedy today? it's disappeared! Peter Cook: genius

  • Utter delight when this was broadcast. No warning Cook was going to come on and just talk brilliant hilarious shite for an hour. Cook’s doing his best to corpse Anderson who later admitted it was painful trying to keep a straight face.

  • Something so beautiful, I can scarcely express it.....

  • Is this a parody of Woy Hodgson??

    Genius as ever.

  • @ParanoidBishop nahh its clearly graham taylor

  • Alan Latchley don't have give me the fuckin' horn!

  • Makes one proud to be English! If being English wasn't such a frightful bore - which gives me the horn.

  • Peter Cook was a comic genius. Superb humour

  • Genius

  • @gards2 Who is this silly little man?

  • they need showing again on mainstream tv for people to discover and rediscover peter cooks comedy genius.

  • haha funny shit!

  • observation is superb

  • He still had it right to the end, a man of so much talent could literally never be a wash-up

  • Like people piss money up the wall, so many comedy gems must have disappeared into the comedy atmosphere with Peter. They reckon he rarely tuned out and his funniest moments were when you caught him on the piss around Soho. The best with Woody Allen, Stan Laurel and Groucho.

  • I gotta say I love Peter Cook, this is one of the funniest, most ridiculous sketches I've ever seen!

    ******

  • So good!

  • GENIUS

  • "Football is about nothing unless it's about something and what it is about is football!"

See, all real-life football managers sound like this to me.

  • That is my favourite comedy clip of all time.

    Peter Cook - Genius.

  • the footballers wifes is well ahead of its time

  • genius

    god bless him (that;s pete)

  • Clive andeson is pobabluy the only person, as quick witted as peter cook...maybe hes even quicker?

  • Nah, Clive could barely keep up. Cook was brilliant. God Bless you sir!

  • You never heard of Chris Morris?

Get hold of the Why Bother CD. It is absolutely beautiful. Cook is interviewed as Sir Arthur Streeb Greebling, by Morris. Morris invents the questions on the spot, as ridiculous as they are, and Cook just flows with the most amazing ideas!

You may even be able to listen to it on here!

  • Actually Morris edited the tapes down from much longer recordings, although it's true that he was one of the best comedy partners Cook ever had in his later life because he brought his own persona to it instead of just being a stooge, like Clive Anderson in this video.

  • 'This is the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament'.. Escapini defence!!

  • James Hetfield has a tattoo on his right arm "Dare To Fail" must have been a Peter Cook fan.

  • i just saw this for the first time absolutely hilarious

  • "motivation,motivation,motivation,the 3 m's"

    lmfao ....brilliant

  • what a complete genious

  • "and when the games over....get um in again"

    classic stuff.

  • peter cook , brilliant

now we have dross like peter kay ( the only thing they have in common is their first name )

  • wilsparky = twat

  • this is classic comedy

  • peter cook is one in a million

  • You should all watch Derek and Clive get the Horn.

My mother wouldn't let me watch it for years, and she was quite right to do so... Very very rude.

But extremely funny. Peter Cook was a genius.

  • Only peasants don't let their children listen to rude words. The middle classes swear. This is much funnier than Derek & Clive - although I thought D&C were fab when I was 13 at boarding school

  • the working class don't swear, you are obviously backward. its the middle class who have "standards" read the daily mail for fucksake. what a total douche. why is d&c done in working class accents not middle class accents. because we swear much better than you you are the dull uniform establishment thats why any posh cunt that wants any cred has to affect a more working class accent even the hun royals are doing it.

  • reading your comments it is no surprise to me that you describe yourself as "confused in england"...

  • yeah i shouldn't comment on youtube when half cut. haha

  • nly peasants don't let their children listen to rude words. The middle classes swear. This is much funnier than Derek & Clive - although I thought D&C were fab when I was 13 at boarding school

  • Are you calling me a peasant? Lol

It's just inappropriate for a child, and besides, I wouldn't have understood half of what was said anyway.

    I'm sure you understand.

  • one of my all time comedy heroes. I remember when it was on television and thought it was hilarious. watching it again proved me right. cheers!

  • all hail the great peter cook....

  • I may be an American, but I think Peter Cook was hilarious. A true comic genius.

I've heard a lot about how good he was at improvising- watching this particular show makes me curious what percentage of it was improvised.

  • Comment removed

  • why worry about being american? His improvisation is incredible yes.

  • That's odd- I was just thinking about these videos for the first time in months earlier this evening just when you happened to reply to my first comment...heh.

  • Dare to fail....

  • Thanks for putting this up.

Watching this is like bumping into an old friend. Ball bouncingly funny.

  • While I'm here, what is the oldest codified football on the planet?

Australian Rules Football was codified. Soccer and Rugby did it later.

Am I wrong? Was the codifying of Aussie Rules a catalyst for the subsequent proper codification of Soccer and Rugby?

  • I'm an Australian. I grew up on 'Aussie Rules', the best game on the planet. Yet, this interview is so typical of us, too.

Well done. Thankyou, to whomever, for making it available.

  • Genious.

  • Brilliant!!

  • football is about nothing unless it's about something! Peter Cook R.I.P.

  • I'm so glad these are on here - these interviews were comedy genius!

  • Vintage!

  • Agreed...very adly missed. A great man indeed.

  • Sadly missed.

  • there was a man alright.

  • "Motivation, motivation, motivation - the three M's!"

    Absolute genius.

  • Brilliant

  • GENIUS COOK IN FORM

  • Amazingly funny man.

  • I wonder if he even had a script or did he make up the entire interview as he went along? It's good enough to be scripted, but he was talented enough to wing it.

  • Going on Clive Anderson's reactions, PC probably gave him the questions beforehand and the rest was probably improvised

  • Absolute comic masterclass.

  • Peter Cook was a genius. His style of comedy was intelligent, which is why some people (i'm referring to some of the comments here) just don't get him. It's true that it takes all sorts to make the world go round, but name calling and making allegations about a dead man is just sick.

  • envy by some posters is not a pretty thingg to read...Peter Cook was a wicked talent. Hs personal life, whatever it was, is of no concern to those who want to laugh at a man who had wit and comic ingenuity.

  • lot of Cook hate here. Along with Peter Sellers he was a genius of characters.

  • Was the 'alcolic' 'jelous' of your English language skills as well?

  • hello mersey group,a homosexual is in the same viegn as being a wife beater is it, is he a homophobe racist too, with no taste in humour and a bad speller ?? ps. the beatles were HIS biggest fan.......!

  • Merseygroup, can you tell me where did you read or hear that he beated his wife?

  • I think you'll find that "Merseygroup" was having a laugh, anything Peter Cook did was scrutinised and reported years ago. There are no more skeletons left in his closet. BTW, Merseygroup's youtube account has been closed, Yay!

    RIP PC

  • And you, my friend, are an imbecile.

  • Hey DoctorBoosh, this guy obviously does not know what comedy is. He's probably some jumped up 12 year old chav (Most likely, coming from Merseyside) who can't make a handful of kids laugh, so no one else can make people laugh.

    merseygroup: you're just a prick.

  • Hey mate believe me I agree with your views on this idiot merseygroup he obviously has no clue about comedy but its nothing to do with being from merseyside

  • Way to alienate a whole city! Anyway, speaking of "chavs", your "Favourites" section is filled with WWF video clips! There's nothing more chavvy than that!

  • Okay, I should have said Meseyside is a county, not a city.

  • lol, whatever, chav! CHAV CHAV!!!

  • its a low crime bein a scouser its low its lower than low but its more than bein low its a about bein low and dont any1 tell me ure u about the word low

  • I am new to peter cook and was saddened when I google him to know that he passed away :( RIP I saw the one where he does an aged rock star and it was awesome LOL

  • Paulrio you are a Cock sucker!

  • go on go on what the fuck are you on about.

  • Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, I suppose you find that funny!! my god!!!

  • thank god for variety...the world would be a dull place without it.

  • Fear not, paulrio! Fox News has a new "comedy" series that I'm sure you'll find absoulutely hilarious!

  • It's Peter Cook! The godfather of satire!!

  • Alan Latchley isn't trying to be funny you fool. He was just a great talent who was laughed out of office by a nation of cretins. This interview was nothing but car crash television.

  • Motivation, motivation, motivation, The three M's!!! the man is a genius!!!

  • watched and taped this the night it was broadcast lost the tape now at long last ive seen it again many thanks.yeegods x

  • All of the above - mrbunglevids, I salute you!

  • Fantastic - everyone who saw Brian Clough will find this funny, correction - it's still funny even if you never did see Clough !

  • Saw this when it first went out and it's still a cracker. Peter Cook was the dog's bollocks!

  • I love Cookie's hairdo and Brian Clough-like facial flushedness. A great clip.

  • The facial flushedness was probably the real thing!! God Peter Cook was good- or God.

  • Classic. Forgot just how funny this clip was. Spurs fan as well. Marvellous...

  • Thanks for posting, been trying for 5 years to get this on bittorent. Hooray!!!

  • Great vid, thanks ... Anderson fluffs at 1:47 by prompting the audience to laugh just before Cooks' punchline, you can hear him apologise to Cook...

  • Looking too much into it mate. That didn't happen.

  • He'd have done better than Sven.

  • Sheer genius

  • One peter cook theres only one peter cook one peter cook theres only one peter cook...i would say he was a genius but i cant.. he was a spurs fan.
