@rojoxacexhoe Now in Reason 6, the answer is nothing. Reason 6 has all the features of Record and Record no longer is in production. Reason 6 has everything.
@PropellerheadSW so does this mean that i cant get record anymore? say if i want this just for mixing would i still have to get reason 6 ? even though i just need 'the record part' of it?
@MrRidisc You are correct if you want the latest version. If you just want the mixing part from Record, though, I guess I could suggest finding Record 1.5 on eBay or our forums perhaps. In our product lineup it's all unified now. Our users wanted the combined functionality in one app rather than the modular approach of the Record Reason Duo.
Watch the featured video on my channel and please someone try to help me out. I don't know if its a problem with Propellerhead software or my computer is a piece of shit. Probably the second one
@kevinsayahofficial2 I watched your vid but there's not much info I could gather from it other than your computer may be too slow to play the song. But what that means can be many things. The processor speed, the RAM installed, the buffer size you have selected for your sound card, the speed of the disk (7200 RPM, for example). Does your computer meet the system requirements for Record? What sound card are you using?
@PropellerheadSW I'm pretty sure my computer meets the system requirements for record, since I used the software for about 10 months before this stupid glitch started happening. I really think it's just my computer because Windows Vista is known to have problems.
@kevinsayahofficial2 Sounds like it, especially if all was running fine and then this happened. Feel free to send a message to our support guys via our website and they can help you out with ideas, even if it is Vista.
Will there be a record 2.0 any time soon? Any sign of it at all? or is it effectivley being made obsolete because of Reason 6. Any info would be great,
@alphamonomusic Yeah Record is now part of Reason. No future Record-independent development will occur. The development paths will be included in future Reason versions.
@algebraparish You can use a utility like SoundFlower, WireTap Anywhere, or similar utilities on Windows to route internal audio paths into Record. Alternatively you can loop out and back into your soundcard to achieve this as well. I personally use WireTap Anywhere.
@jacknjellify Reason has an ENDLESS supply of sounds ready to use and set up on a track mixer right at your fingers. It's possible to make a song like the one you hear in this video with only a small keyboard that can hook up to your computer.
@jacknjellify if you have both, you can include reason sounds in record songs, but record is more for recording with actual instruments and refining and toying with the sound
@synth77 whoa bitchy much? ;) haha. Is he playing the synth from a trigger pad or is he sampling something? Sorry I'm totally new to synths and stuff.
@prthiv I was just messing, i thought it moog voyager with goes for around 3000 bucks. It's just some random rack mount(played with a midi keyboard. You could probably create that sound with most synths and if your gonna get one, don't worry about price, moogs are like gibsons.I you were wondering about the sound its an envelop filter that gives it that sound.
This video is terrible. Instead of wasting time showing musicians playing their instruments the video should show a lot more of Record itself. Typical bad demo -- lots of talk, talk, talk, and not much else.
Whuuuat?! It's only €219,- here in The Netherlands, I already have Reason, it would be even cooler if they combined the two togeter in one single program.
@DanceAshtonDance You certainly can make dusbstep on it. In fact, our most recent Artist Feature interview this month was with UK Dubstep producer Jakwob who uses the Record Reason Duo for 100% of his dubstep production. Check it out! youtube.com/watch?v=IdUaGqpikdc
hey there ! i have a question, when i import an audio track that i would like to mix i dont hear anything in record itself but i see the bars moving up and down?!
The funny thing about propellerheads is, that the advertises are soooo bad, but the products are great, shows me that they're usin their money right and not like apple: good ad, bad product !
Im planning to use this has a porta studio when im on the road and bouce back when im in the studio into my HD2 system. Looking to install into laptop, for reasons i like using PC, even though i end up in my mac for protools but what specs what i would need to use in a laptop to beable to track atleast 48audio tracks with some processing.
Propellerheads really nailed it this time! They totally understand what making music on a computer is all about. Their programs (especially Record) is simple, yet powerful. And the most important thing: This software inspires you and makes you want to be more creative! What more should I ask?
great sw. my caveat: a ton of procrastinating users of record that bought their versions AFTER i bought mine, got a FREE upgrade to 1.5. me? out of luck. emailed them (line6 support), a guy gave me another line6 email to ask for an exception. after two emails (first ignored), they told me NO, tough shit. i bought my copy to early to qualify. Meanwhile my friends using other brands get free updates for life. Just a real FU to loyal propellerhead people which stinks
@experiment0003 i hate niggas like u! y the fuck u gonna ask the company can u steal their shit? that pisses me off to the maximum! if u can find it like that then do it, but u don't ask a muthafucka can u do illegal shit. fuck man, now i cant find alot of shit my damn self cause a nigga like u blew the spot up. fucking bitch ass snitch! i fucking hate u! that's like going to the cops and asking is it okay to rob a bank, now they watching u and the bank. u don't ask bitch, u just do it. damn u!
Record makes Reason an advanced toy but still a toy. Most Reason users I know (and I've been a beta tester since the earliest version) have upgraded to Ableton Live and FL Studio these days.
awsome video, this looks like a good program but i can kinda do all this in live with like no more clicks, i guess tbh once you've got used to somthing :)
It is not as good as Logic Pro, or even Logic Express, the included Amp is garbage compared with the Logic's Amp Designer and the SSL is not as intuitive as Logic's mixer. Epic fail from Propellerheads.
So lemme get this straight. I can do everything like I would reason, but I can also record vocals? How does the vocal recording compare to Logic Pro or Pro Tools?
Very nice commercial, I think this is exactly the kind of DAW I've been waiting for, considering how intuitive Reason is. I always hoped for an upgrade for Reason so it can finally record audio, but if it's got to be a standalone software, so be it. Just wish I would have known about this sooner! Btw. in case no-one's mentioned it yet, there is a sidegrade for Reason users that even updates Reason to version 4, pretty cool!
Though Reason and Record are not the best you can get when it comes to quality, it is much much easier to use as other DAWs (e.g. Cubase) and it contains everything you need to make good music if you know how to use both of them right.
Of course, if you want best quality, you have to buy ProTools or Logic and a bunch of hardware. But hey, who's got the 16.000$ for a Pro Tools hardware? Only those, who are professionals already.
What do you mean its not as good as far as quality? All DAWs (Pro Tools, Sonar, Logic, Cubase etc) are capable of 24bit at 48000Hz and up, so how does it make a difference?? it ALL depends on the mixing skills of the user, programs like GarageBand are made to make the persons recordings sound good by default therfore disincouraging skill, the only thing any person with a little knowledge needs is a compressor and eq, throw in an audio interface and ur set.
I'm gonna have to disagree. Everything I record in Cubase sounds better than Reaper. The sound engine has some sort of audio-improving feature, forgot the exact name of it.
I just still dont believe any real seasoned engineer would use this for polished radio-ready songs...especially as opposed to using the pro gear/plugins they already have. This is CLEARY for the bedroom, beat making reason-using producers and engineers....I've tried it and it has that same "thin" sound that Reason always had ( i luv Reason btw) and i just cant get with it...it is a cool program though but again in my opinion its geared more toward the "bedroom" guys...my 2 cents
Are you implying that "bedroom" musicians and engineers can't achieve the same quality as "Pro Studio" musicians and engineers? Where do we draw the line? Just because the "bedroom" studio isn't located in some highly secure facility doesn't mean it's not pro. I've been to many home studios with a killer setup, and I've also been to "pro" studios with million dollar equipment and I just can't see the difference. Although, it is what you know, and how you use it that makes all the difference.
Also, I'm not trying to come off as a prick, I just don't see the need for all the high-dollar equipment when you can achieve the same sound without it. Regardless of what you think, you CAN get that 'legendary" sound such as the Neve... Again, it's what you know and how you use it....
LOL wow I laugh because i have the same argument with people all the time...especially the "analog-only" type guys who feel as you say 'cant' get a pro sound ITB...I agree with you 100 percent. I personally know "bedroom" guys who shit sounds completely pro. THAT wasnt my point though. I was simply pointing out the fact that what you might be doing at home on your mbox or some other low end interface ('specially a frickin soundblaster) wont give you that big ssl sound just because you use record
Ahh, I see... You are absolutely correct regarding the SoundBlaster thing (I have one, and let me tell you..... I Can't wait to get my HT Omega Claro+ and a dedicated DSP card) I should have said "In order to achieve...." then go into details of what you need... But the bottom line, yes it is possible to get that sound without all the bullshit hardware.
Don't get me wrong, If I had a million dollar setup, I'd absolutely cream myself. But I'm satisfied with what I got at the moment because I know how to use it.
In fact, if you don't mind, you can go to lnixmasteringDOTcom, and take a look at what I'm talking about. I had already pre-mastered my mix, and there was ALMOST nothing they could do to make it sound better. He pressed a couple buttons, and handed me the master reference and that was it. And to this day, I can't tell the difference.
@sashamaz Trust me it isnt. i used to think that fl studio was awesome. Now i use reason and it is miles better. Reason is definately less easier to learn, but as soon as you overcome its structure, it is so much better sounding and much more professional. also it is much more versatile in its synths. if i only had thor as a synthesiser i could do anything. I recommend getting reason 4 or 5
I want his "music is killing piracy" shirt... anyone know where I can get a copy?
Record is definitely on my christmas list. Its still not going to as Pro tools. Automation is more complicated and no extra plug-ins, every Record song is going to be noticeable!
I can't really say I agree with the automation part. It's really, really simple to automate things in Record.
As for the plug-ins, the reason (no pun intended) Propellerhead does not allow 3rd party plug-ins is so you won't spend all your computer power on such plug-ins.
I know it's simple to do the automation, just move the dials in playback or when recording, but I find it more accurate to draw in the automation instead of doing it in real time, at least have an option to do so.
Haha, that band is cool and funny. They did a good job with this video, I'm glad I finished watching it. Record looks really good, I can't wait to get my copy. It seems worth it and that's a free plug for Propellerhead.
So wats the difference betweeen record and reason?

I just still dont believe any real seasoned engineer would use this for polished radio-ready songs...especially as opposed to using the pro gear/plugins they already have. This is CLEARY for the bedroom, beat making reason-using producers and engineers....I've tried it and it has that same "thin" sound that Reason always had ( i luv Reason btw) and i just cant get with it...it is a cool program though but again in my opinion its geared more toward the "bedroom" guys...my 2 cents
Kicktess 2 years ago

SK8terGuy19 2 years ago
LOL wow I laugh because i have the same argument with people all the time...especially the "analog-only" type guys who feel as you say 'cant' get a pro sound ITB...I agree with you 100 percent. I personally know "bedroom" guys who shit sounds completely pro. THAT wasnt my point though. I was simply pointing out the fact that what you might be doing at home on your mbox or some other low end interface ('specially a frickin soundblaster) wont give you that big ssl sound just because you use record
Kicktess 2 years ago
...and it seems these guys will and do actually think and believe this.
Kicktess 2 years ago
Ahh, I see... You are absolutely correct regarding the SoundBlaster thing (I have one, and let me tell you..... I Can't wait to get my HT Omega Claro+ and a dedicated DSP card) I should have said "In order to achieve...." then go into details of what you need... But the bottom line, yes it is possible to get that sound without all the bullshit hardware.
SK8terGuy19 2 years ago
Don't get me wrong, If I had a million dollar setup, I'd absolutely cream myself. But I'm satisfied with what I got at the moment because I know how to use it.
In fact, if you don't mind, you can go to lnixmasteringDOTcom, and take a look at what I'm talking about. I had already pre-mastered my mix, and there was ALMOST nothing they could do to make it sound better. He pressed a couple buttons, and handed me the master reference and that was it. And to this day, I can't tell the difference.

Oh yeah, if you go there, check the "Photo Gallery" for what I'm talking about...

sashamaz 1 year ago
@sashamaz Trust me it isnt. i used to think that fl studio was awesome. Now i use reason and it is miles better. Reason is definately less easier to learn, but as soon as you overcome its structure, it is so much better sounding and much more professional. also it is much more versatile in its synths. if i only had thor as a synthesiser i could do anything. I recommend getting reason 4 or 5

I want his "music is killing piracy" shirt... anyone know where I can get a copy?
Record is definitely on my christmas list. Its still not going to as Pro tools. Automation is more complicated and no extra plug-ins, every Record song is going to be noticeable!
supertramp120 2 years ago
I can't really say I agree with the automation part. It's really, really simple to automate things in Record.
As for the plug-ins, the reason (no pun intended) Propellerhead does not allow 3rd party plug-ins is so you won't spend all your computer power on such plug-ins.
SyvSto 2 years ago
I know it's simple to do the automation, just move the dials in playback or when recording, but I find it more accurate to draw in the automation instead of doing it in real time, at least have an option to do so.
supertramp120 2 years ago
You do have the option to draw in your automation. :)

Haha, that band is cool and funny. They did a good job with this video, I'm glad I finished watching it. Record looks really good, I can't wait to get my copy. It seems worth it and that's a free plug for Propellerhead.
