  • quick question... when you stop this way, the leg that goes to the back and actually makes you stop; do you just brake with the wheels or you also brake with the skate itself ? I'm asking 'cause i'm using both, wheels and the skates (since it has those plastic protections) but the protection is kind of messed up already, and i only used them for 3 days !!! so i guess you should not use the skate to brake but only the wheels, right ?

  • Golf clap

  • I have rollerblade lesson and when I first try the power slide I keep falling down but the after I watch your video I improved and passed my power slide

  • so is this anything like stopping on ice skates? i play ice hockey but i'm going to try out roller tomorrow and would hate to go crashing into the boards if i try an ice skate approach.

  • I can already feel my legs breaking..

  • Now im not danger! The other time ir hit lady '-'

  • hell yeah , MAIDEN

  • Why can't you do this on ice?

  • Woohoo! Thanks to this video, I totally learned how to do this.

  • awesomeness

  • what is the does it means by swing your stopping leg?

  • which is doing the stopping, the frame or the wheels? at the beginning of the video it looks like it's the frame

  • any way to do it without looking flamboyant?

  • Is powerslide same as power stop or the T-stop?

  • In order to stop, should there be more weight on the bent leg or the straight leg? Or should the weight be equal?

  • I used to be able to powerslide back when I was an inline ref. Now that I've played exclusively ice hockey for 2 or 3 years, I can't do it anymore. :(

  • thanks a lot

  • can you do this on hard, rough, uneven concrete?

  • @GuruEdward Not really.

  • @schoolyardpuck

mhmm, tennis courts do have a nice feel while skating.

  • @schoolyardpuck If you use the side of your skate more than you do the wheels yes you can. Once your balance is set you can apply more pressure to the wheels to slow you down.

  • @GuruEdward Yes, you can do it on any surface. Tennis courts are by far the easiest. This guy is only using one skate, which is "not" advanced, by any means.

  • cool video but iv played inline my whole life and if your stopping properly you would stop on the spot not slid for 10ft. not hating or anything..

  • On my skates with any slide i dont even slide.. I just flat out stop

  • would 72mm work

  • I like his video and his t-shirt:D thx for sharing this video:D

  • i hate skating fast when i play hockey, cause i don't know how to stop very well. hopefully this will help

  • do you recommend powerslide stops for speed-based inline skates? (90mm wheels etc)

  • God that was a great shot in the beginning! Try watchin' that in 3D!

  • are all your wheels the same size? I keep hearing two different things, i hear have all wheels the same size is best, and then i hear having two smaller wheels in front, and two larger wheels in back? which configuration do you recommend? I am an experienced skater.

  • @msorokin1 Those particular skates are 76 all the way across, but it can be done with HiLo's too. Straight across is easier for sliding.

  • @msorokin1 1 big 1 at the front and back and 2 small ones in the middle

  • Viewers trying to understand this stopping maneuver should understand that you must get down off edge to slide. This means you break your ankle so far that invariably you slide on the edge of your frame and boot. If you have soft boots, you'll shred them. You need an older style rec boot, aggressive boot, or hockey boot. Soft boots with an plastic exo shell also get it done. Speed skates or soft boots are impractical. Every style skater can powerslide, but not ever style boot should.

  • you can't power slide with just any wheel right? lol

  • do your wheels have to be a certain size to power slide mine are 77mm

  • good, ty

  • Nice video.

  • Maiden!

  • what diameter and durability wheels do you use?

  • @xShadowerZ The wheels in that vid are 76mm 82A

  • @xShadowerZ Well i managed to do it on ten wheel skeelers. The movement is more round than i when do with skates wich is more sharper. so in fact the size of the wheels is not really important.

  • I wouldn't use this as it would cause 'flat spots' but in a split second decision it is good to use a 't stop' :)

  • Thanks for your video (and responding to my previous comment months ago). I've learned to do this method fairly well.

Do you find that you become less stable stopping using this method at higher speeds? I'm hesitant to try this when I'm going relatively fast. Or do you find that it's an appropriate stopping method at all speeds (at which you are comfortable skating)?

  • @djuatdelta123 It works well at high speeds, you just have to use a steeper angle.

  • I really fucking need to learn this. Today I've hurt down my knees cuz I was too fast and i didn't have enough space to try a spin stop (the one I know) ... straight to the floor =P

  • Have you got ROCE LAX?

  • this video makes me wanna go to the roller kingdom and try out this new trick!

  • how bad does this wear down your tires as opposed to a "T-Stop"

  • @shoaibrasouli About the same...maybe even a little faster. PS I love that you called em tires.

  • @schoolyardpuck oops i just realized that lol...don't judge

  • Thank you!

  • woa! im from oregon too!! what part? i live in beaverton, and use to live in gp

  • @loginboi112 Also Beaverton, played at Indoor Goals in high school.

  • @schoolyardpuck small world. haha. go 2 southridge. i dont know if you know where that is?

  • @loginboi112 Yep I played on the first roller hockey team Westview had.

  • @schoolyardpuck nice! well, you are very good, and keep up all the gr8 vids!!

  • quick question:

i am using rollerblade crossfire 4.0, 84mm wheels

are they capable for power slides and freestyle skating?

    thx!!

  • Damn.. I have rec skates with rubber wheels...

If i try any of this advanced stuff i'll completely grind them down

  • @julanrai1 yes

  • i play roller hockey and we do it so different...but what ever works for you

  • @daisyfarm98 same here!

  • will it work if i have rubber wheels

  • What size and what kind of wheels are you using??

I can do this perfectly on the ice and have been for years and years but it doesn't quite feel the same on cement...there's too much traction.

I can do as tight turns on blades like I can on the ice either @_@

My wheels are 78mm 80A would they work ok?

  • @Boboua They're 76mm 82A, you might need to try harder wheels.

  • anyone else from oregon thumbs up :D

  • would you say that this is for when youre going the fastest

  • he looks really gay when he does it haha arms are all awkward n shit haha

  • Can this work with aggressive skates like Razor skates?

  • what skates are those? the ones you are using in the video please reply bro

  • @hotchocolate21212121 They are old skool Roces Hockey skates. They made similar models: the Vert and Lo Rider in the mid 90s. I usually rock a pair of Bauer Vapors, but on the street those Roces just feel so right.

  • @schoolyardpuck ok sorry to bother you but what skates would you recommend for me i really like skating urban style like in the neighbourhood and recreational and i would want a skate that would compliment those hobbies you think the 'rollerblade twister' is good?

  • Does this powerslide stopping method only work with "roller hockey" type wheels? Or can this be done using, for example, the default wheels on a K2 EXO skate (which is what I skate with)?

  • @djuatdelta123 I'm not familiar with that skate but I'm guessing it has rec wheels. These type of wheels generally have a similar shape to hockey wheels, but aren't as solid. They should work as long as they are hard enough. If they can't handle the stress they will break off in chunks. Only one way to find out!

  • Thanks! I'll definitely try the harder wheels. I was using 80's and tried my other skates with 72's and it was easier, but I think the real problem is the 80's are just too soft. That and I'm just not quite good enough yet. By the way...love the Maiden Oregon shirt in that video!

  • It looks like in the intro you're sliding mostly on the frame of the skates, not the wheels. Does that sound accurate, and if so, do I need smaller wheels? I'm having trouble with the wheels biting too hard.

  • @dsheaffer3660 It might look that way but it actually is the wheels...at a very steep angle. You could try smaller wheels, but try harder wheels first.

  • it looks easier, after the snow will go off, i will try too ;)

  • you look so much like charlie from always sunny in philadelphia

  • does this work with 2 wheels on each blade?

  • @mightymotoxkid I'm not sure, I've only tried it with 4, but I imagine it would be very difficult. Your stability, maneuverability, and control would be drastically reduced.

  • @mightymotoxkid sorry for bad english but with 2 wheel it's egual tan with 4 wheel if it is the esternal and not the internal wheel (but that is normal xD)

  • @mightymotoxkid its actually somewhat easier b/c you have less resistance

  • If you jump just before you power slide, wouldn't getting into the stance be a whole lot easier?

  • @muzaku No the technique involves gradually moving your skates parallel to the ground. You really have to feel out your edge. Jumping would make this very difficult. Good luck!

  • Awesome! I tried it after watching the vid, and got it after a few tries. I'm still a bit wobbly and can't stop with this when I'm going fast, but this vid helped a lot! Thanks!

  • Epic intro and very nice tutorial! Thanks!

  • Hello, nice tutorial video

Few things, can you do this on concrete or does the surface have to be soft.. like basketball court?

And do you have to lean to the opposite side like you're riding a surf board or about to fall?

  • @Tyris1013: The surface in the video is on a tennis court, but you can do em in parking lots too--smoother the better. It helps to use hard wheels, 84A for example.

Your weight should be over your trailing foot, knees bent, butt down.

  • A few things - Your awesome, the video quality is really good, and last thing is I always thought this was impossible, now I will have to practice. I think i will wear knee pads though.

    Thanks for posting!
