@benzackry If you click on my user name, A Sorta Fairytale should be the first video in the uploads section. There are two public versions of ASF here; this one and a more melancholic version on a piano setting (the intro sounds much like the album version, with the concert riff thrown in). Hope all is well.
besides the fact that you go too fast (and the nature of this song is laid-back and melancholic and not maniac and hysterical), i love your arrangement
@janotosinnumeros Thank you. While I would play it differently if asked to do so today, I do like the song having a lot of runs, density, and dynamics. Little bit of mystery perhaps too. I could play a straight up rendition of the album version, but without Tori herself leading the way it would be... hmmm... not very engaging. Two hands, might as well do something interesting with them. Appreciate the constructive feedback. Best to you!
@wbarreguy what if I ask you? "please do...please play a more melancholic and laid-back version", what would you say? ;)
Best to you too. I've seen a couple of other videos of yours and i find you very talented, specially because you can play de bass line, the chords and the melody all with just two hands.
@janotosinnumeros Thank you. The good news is that it's already been done. I don't know if they let us post links in comments here but if you do a search for BPK - A Sorta Fairytale, it will be the third one down. Keep in mind it was only the second day after I got a new keyboard so I was very inexperienced with it.
@janotosinnumeros Your comment had me thinking about this song which led to me replaying it on the piano setting more slowly and deliberately. It's on my main channel page in the box on the right, but when I set a few things public it will slide down off the featured list.
hello old friend (obscure eric clapton reference)... ;) and speaking of obscure, the most breathtaking live performance of a sorta fairytale seems to be nowhere to be found on youtube or even itunes for that matter - check out the live rendition from the 2004 release Carved in Stone - Live at Red Rocks Vol 2... a most compelling and brilliant performance! and as for your cover here, it is superb as all of your works are!! :-)
Hello Jesster. I hope you are having a good interim between the two chronological poles of the proverbial "happy" holidays. :-) Thanks you for your comment. I have yet been unable to locate this mysterious performance. The Posse tour performances of ASF were fantastic as well--I wonder how they compare. And no, they weren't performed by "clowns." *giggle*
I've been looking for the sheetmusic now a long time. Most give only the riff of the song. Do you know where I can get a full sheet of a sorta fairytale? I love to play this song. You play it very very well! I'm jealous!
Thank you sincerely and so much for saying this. I would love to record something on a grand piano. My piano downstairs is out of tune and I know if I filmed something on it, the dog would bark a lot, the doorbell would ring, car horns would blare, and my cat would climb all over the keys. So I play up here where it's "safe." :-) I thank you again.
This is so powerful. I feel like I've been transported to a truly ethereal place. You have so much talent for taking pretty things and making them all the more beautiful. You are an amazingly inspiring individual
woah 3:04 there was an arpeggiation of sheer genius!
how many keys is that-- 61? 76? i don't see 88 but i may be blind. it's pretty awesome if indeed it's not a full-spectrum keyboard that you can get those tones out of it.
Thank you! It has 61 keys. It has a transpose function so if I need a lower range, I take it down 12 steps. To date, I have never moved it "up" an octave. I don't think I ever will.
sorry about your hater.. don't know what's up with that -- i've had them too. i am just listening now so i will comment again once i've heard the whole thing -- the beginning is SUPER!
I thought the original version of ASF was well played until I heard the new version you posted. The new version takes ASF from a light hearted playful song to something near magical. This has always been my favorite song and your new version is nothing short of amazing. I am not sure how anyone could listen to this song and not enjoy it, rather you know the lyrics behind it or not.
how can i watch the the newer version? it says private.
