Slim's wife Joy wrote it and they released it in the mid 70s where it went on to be the first successful truck song in Australia and has been recorded by many artists, including some in the USA.

If you are into trucks you should come out and visit the Queensland transport museum over in Gatton, I volunteer there and can vouch that it is worth the money to get in.
