when you concentrate at both of them,you will see that they are the same! depending on the darker color of the background,the more lighter it looks.But,when its more lighter,the half circles will be darker.But of course,once combined there are just the same...

I'm not trying to show off but I knew it from the start. Before an optical illusion works, I always pause the video and find out first if there is something wrong with it. Ignore the bakground first and just focus on the semi circles and look at both at once.
