I had this album on cassette back in the 80's and played the HELL out of it. After my stereo got stolen with the tape, I had to buy the LP online from a collector and then copy it onto tape/cd.
In my opinion, Atlanta blew Alabama out of the water!
To anyone who is asking where they can get a copy of the CD "Pictures" by Atlanta, I'm not sure you can. My dad's friend took the "Pictures" record he owned to a studio and got the songs copied onto a CD for my dad. He's the only one I know who has the CD.
this music brings back good memories going to c my uncle tony live out his dream with atlanta i enjoyed watching him play the fiddle amd the drums i miss u and love u uncle tony thanks for the memories DJ
Ive spent weeks looking for this song. I remember it played on CMT when I was a little girl. Does anyone know where I can find the official Video that played?
The video is now up. The sound quality is poor, so you will need to adjust your speaker volume. I hope you are as affected by the video as I have always been. Enjoy.
Atlanta's music quit being published years ago in a record deal dispute or something like that. Treasure that copy you may never be able to replace it.
If you like ATLANTA write, email, call MCA Records in Nashville...make them release a greatest hits cd!!! There is no reason why a group that sold 1.7 million records should not have anything on the market now. PLease do it! Pass it on.
This is typical of the entire music industry., The asshat music executives won't release the old vinyl recordings on CD. I have vinyl records going back almost 50 years that my Mom and Dad(Walking with The Lord) have. Occasionally there are new country songs that touch the heart but there are few and far between. Search for Johnny Paycheck Old Violin and Butterflies And Babies
Tony Ingram is my cousin whom I spent a lot of time with at his home as a child. He was an awesome person and I will miss him so much. I am so thankful that Tony had his life right with God. I'm sure he is singing with Angels now. Rest in peace Tony...love you!
Tony was a wonderful servant of God and loved his children more than anything. He gave so much to this world. But I know he is rejoiceing in heaven today and is free of pain and the sorrows of this world. I'll see you again someday Tony. I always loved you.
There was a video of this song back around 1984 or so. I've got it on a VCR tape recorded off CMT. If I can find it I'll post it. Very powerful. Anybody else seen it?
I remember seeing it long ago. It was a very moving video. Very well done if the one I am thinking of. Ghosts of CSA and Union soldiers moving among the headstones at Shiloh cemetery.
I do happen to have the video, though it has probably deteriorated some over time. I taped it over 20 years ago on VHS. I will convert it to digital and hopefully my son can help me upload it for your enjoyment. I agree; very moving!
I also have to agree with P51ride, Old Violin was an amazing song as well.
Hye bandmom...thanks for posting. I've read the linear notes on both albums, and never do they list the 60s band the Association as an influence, but you can hear it in their vocal spreads. Saw em twice. SOme of their songs and lyrics were kinda trite, but they were GREAT "live." Is the stuff on CD? I can't find it. Chuck Otis, Austin
I was so happy to find this here. Tony was a wonderful singer and I wish he was still performing today. I actually have several of their videos in a collection as I was married to one of these gents.
