  • The Seventh Cavalry rides helicopters to work these days, but they used to be pony soldiers doing the dirty work in the west for 13 bucks a month. They swiped this great tune from the British. Well done, Seventh Cavalry. You followed some crazy men, like Custer, but you did so bravely.

  • @spinoza1111

The British and Indian troops marched into the Battle of Magdala to this song in what is sometimes considered one of the worlds first examples of a Rapid Reaction Force being deployed over seas. (I say rapid reaction, it took a good three months to assemble and transport the force- but in 1868 that was quite a feat)

  • SUCK ON THIS ONE HSBC. PAYING YOU WANKERS OFF TO THE TUNE OF GARRY OWEN, FOR NO MAN FOR DEBT SHALL GO TO JAIL.

  • @Supduplemup you are an idiot, really.

  • @hulk0hulk

go put a thumb up yer arse ;-)

  • @Supduplemup Your comments are just really dumb? What they have to do with this video?

  • @hulk0hulk

if you dont get it because your native language is not English, then dont bother, and save the rudeness. Comprende?

  • @Supduplemup Oui, j'ai compris bien. And I do get it. Just your comment 2 people are nazis doesn't really make sense. It's not like Germany and Scotland are the biggest enemies in history.

  • @hulk0hulk

yea you are right, but I didnt say "2 people are Germans"

  • @hulk0hulk

yea you are right, but I didnt say "2 people are Germans"

  • @hulk0hulk The Scots are subserviant to the English.

  • @Supduplemup why dont you show some respect, english folk arent the only ones that use youtube, comprend?

  • @patgoulet3

Never said I was english. And I did not disrespect anyone

  • @Supduplemup sry, must have misunderstood your tone. youtube is riddled with self-important asses, you almost automatically assume your talking to one.

  • Garry Owen Baby Musical Ride: Father places Baby astride his leg and takes Baby's hands as if Baby were riding a Horse. Father bounces his Child whilst singing, at top volume, all verses from Garryowen. Babies generally like this.

  • My favorite line: "no man for debt shall go to jail". Take that, HSBC!

  • Four Instrumentals To Play At Full Blast On a Nice Day:

    (A)Ride of The Valkyries

(B)Theme To'The High and The Mighty'

    (C)The Garry Owen

    (D)A Swinging Safari

  • Was this recorded at the Edinburgh tattoo.

I pray I live long enough go to Edinburgh and see it live.

I watch it on TV as often as I can but it's not the same (obviously).

  • 'Ladies from H**L', indeed!

  • I NEED BIGGER SPEAKERS

Oh my God this is f*&^%^%$# awesome

  • Section Chief 5/2 Arty dusters quads searchlights, automatic weapons self propelled) Saigon to Cambodia Aug 68June 70 garryowen sir!

  • I went in '66, enlisted for artillery, proud no one had to chase me in, hated staying in the states anyway, listening to this easy to see why young men went back then, Outstanding. 5/2 Artillery (awsp) Ft. Benning, Sill, Nam '68-70. Nemo me impune lecessit.

  • I say again, gentlemen, we Must fight!- Patric Henry

  • The pipes strike heart in the celts, and fear in the europeans!

  • Nothing make me feel so charged like scottish traditional bagpipe!

  • "Mess with Scotland at your own risk"? Hasn't England been doing that for over seven hundred years? And who wears the crown of Scotland today? Why, Elizabeth II of England, isn't it? Where's William Wallace and The Bruce when you need 'em? Although Elizabeth is actually a descendent of Good King Robert, so I guess it's OK.

  • Mess with Scotland at your own risk

  • Whose the guy playing the bagpipes?

  • Magersfontein...we sent them running, bagpipes and all!

  • I wonder what Crazy Horse would have thought if he saw and heard Scotsmen instead of Custers boys.

  • I wish the Yanks would learn to play the bloody bagpipes- this sounds like a school band!!

  • i'm saving this one. my grandfather McGregor served in US Cavalry, as does my son today. Scotland and 7th Cavalry forever!

  • GREAT DRUMMING WAS A DRUMMER IN QUEENS REGIMENTMENTAL BAND WOULD A LOVED TO BANG ME DRUMS TO THIS ONE BUT ENGLISH, STUNNING DRUMMING

  • I love the skirl of the pipes and the sound of the drums

  • Up the 7th Horse!

  • Outstanding. Thanks. I've just taken up the pipes myself and I swore Gary Owen would be the first tune I learn.

  • Scottish shouldn't play an irish song, irish should play it on our own pipes. No offence to any scottish its just an irish song is all

  • @EmperorOfSeleucia THANK YOU!! I was just thinking this, why the hell are they playing a classic Irish tune on bagpipes???

  • @EmperorOfSeleucia The Scots were originally a tribe from Ireland . Much of their heritage is shared. What I'm saying is " dont be so nit picky "

  • @az092707 I understand what your saying. I suppose you have a point.

  • @az092707

Clan Gunn are decendents of Norsemen. Probably why the Brits hated the Scotts so much. Revenge for the Vikings kicking their butts.

  • This is definitely the way it needs to be played :)

  • God, i love this music.

  • Great stuff, thanks for sharing it.

  • GOD bless the Republic and the Mighty 7th. hoooooaaahhh! This is a soul stirring rendition, one of the best I've heard to date. Many thanks from an old Tanker Sargent.

  • @NamVet70Mike Thanks for you service, Mike.

  • Dads: put this on at 6:00 AM at top volume to get your kids out of bed. Caveat: the Wife must be away on some sort of religious retreat praying for your soul.

  • @spinoza1111 My (of Scottish descent) husband once gave me a CD of bagpipes & drums. I thought he was mad at me, so I LOVED your comment!

  • @spinoza1111 Not if she's as hardcore as yea. It has been known ta be.

  • @alpha18412 A woman who likes pipe music is a Good Woman.

  • @spinoza1111 Fukin A

  • @spinoza1111 seriously, they'll get up saluting and marching

  • @spinoza1111 I'm so thankful to find out I'm not the only mean old son of a bitch with a wicked sense of humor!

I've waken my daughters many times to Scotland the Brave and Gary Owen on the pipes at full volume; scare the hell outta them and my neighbors!! They still love me and the neighbors still tolerate me. I was single parent and DID IT MY WAY!!

  • @spinoza1111 I enjoyed that comment...quite whitty!

  • I heard this today at a funeral for a fallen Police Officer from White Plains NY. God Bless.

  • oh it makes my heart sing...and twirl and bang the drums hardy

  • GREAT !!!!!!! Hooah !!!

  • You just got Gary Owened!

  • love it

  • GARY OWEN

  • the best of all the gary owens.

  • @italianchappy love this one too

  • sounds awesome and it's loud, and the drums crash like something you might hear on the field of Waterloo, sooooo =D what cause is there for complaint?

  • well men, that was tight! Fair play to them for having a wallop at it anyway, just a wee point thing there, the second Irish tune of course as you all know, is O'Donnell Abu, not O' Donald (thats our Scot cousins) The Last Donegal Cheiftan, and one of the two last Earls, and succesor to the High Kingship (as well as Hugh O'Neill of Tyrone) of good old Eire, O'Donnell forever "as Gaelige",

  • I come from a VERY OLD Welsh Cavalry family and of the Owen bloodline. This [bag]pipe version nearly made me cry it's that AWESOME! I CANNOT fathom a world WITHOUT our majestic Scots and their beloved bagpipes! You absolutely KICK ASS AND ROCK!!!!!

  • it´s great!

  • HWB. 3sqn.11th.ACR. WELL DONE

  • Tune your pipes before performing! That was embarassing.

  • Their bagpipes! How can you even tell if their not tuned. Like it matters?

  • @smallHOST Thank you. Jesus, I'm glad someone noticed. The Drum Major called the set out of time. Early drones (out of tune) and early chanters. This is atrocious.

  • Very cool!!!!

  • Co. A, 3rd Bn., 7th Cavalry, 1972-1973. Doorgunner. Well done. Thank you very much.

  • @troyruppel Thank you.

  • @troyruppel thank you for your service

  • Amazing!

  • Sorry but this is great. Seventh cavellegeri seve be honored.

  • grailqwest, don't be like that, the man fought hard and oughta be admired for his service. Another FYI for you, it was referred to as Viet Nam back in the day, and old habits die hard. For instance ARVN, the term for the South Vietnamese troops, stood for the Army of the Republic of Viet Nam. It's two words, hoo-ah?

  • this is great i am a viet nam vet. we play the song every yr. at the st.pats parade in dog town in st.louis.

  • love this song, god bless you for serving and god bless you in your life

  • You should know that Vietnam is one word.

  • Can you please correct this. It should be 'O'Donnell Abu', not O'Donald

  • Did you know that in 1846, a MEXICAN ARMY BATALLION was formed mainly by IRISHMEN whom had deserted from the american army to join Mexico, a catholic nation, against an illegal invation.

Mexicans will always be grateful to Ireland for that.

VIVA MEXICO - ERIN GO BRAGH!!!!!

  • huh, I learn something everyday reading these comments on various vids.

  • The San Patricios right?

  • There is some question about whether they were deserters. Some people insist they were civilians who migrated into Mexico because the could not find employment in Hew Orleans. one thing I agree on is that they were courageous soldiers and fought well.

  • @mariopmoreno viva estados unidos-hooah!

  • the ladies from hell............

  • except the 7th used fifes and drummers instead of bagpipes

  • The US 7th Cavalry has had several pipe bands!

  • they do? i only see em using fifes, drums, and trumpets

  • this also the march of the american 7th cavalry,i belive they are still in service today

  • Made me cry like a baby. Not quite a hundred though. It'd be good to get a hundred and hear what it sounds like!

  • gary owen sounds like a hundred pipers
