  • I'd love to hear her sing this now! Good song, but a bit light weighht for the Elkie I remember.

  • How to look cool, Just keep singing (Miming) & find your way out of the building when it's on fire.

Or did the person on the smoke machine not know how to work it properly.

  • Ahh Think her britcher s and mine Bustted at same Time. ?

  • Thanks for the posting. this is just good pop music, but unfortunately doesnt have the spice of Vinegar Joe - to see what i mean watch her dynamic performance belting out LAWDY MISS CLAWDY - Vinegar Joe Elkie Brooks Robert Palmer LAWDY MISS CLAWDY on youtube. Wishing the multi talented elkie brooks every success on her 50th anniversary tour!!

  • Your BeeeccH ?

  • This was a very popular song, perhaps the end of the Sixties?

There have been many cover versions of well-known singers -

you can hear it well today again.

In these days, Elkie Brooks was celebrating her birthday -

    my best congratulations subsequently!

  • How could she sing such a song? A nightmare!

  • Killer heels. Good vocals too.

  • check out some other tracks from Rich Mans Woman...Roll Me Over,One Step On The Ladder,Tomorrow....all classic Elkie belters!

  • God this so go against all my memories of Elkie!! what the heck!!! i'm so a fan of elkie.. but this wouldn't be my fave!! :(

  • It wasn't Elkie's favourite either. The messed it about too much in the mixing. How are the Fruit and Veg. in Caple St.????

  • actually its Moore street for fruit and veg - capel street for really good gigs! especially on a sunday! :)

  • Sorry stupid mistake. Of course its Moore St.

  • The problem was Elkie was too easy going you need to be a bitch to get on in the music business talent won't cut it - it shows with this whole album Rich Mans Woman - the record compant played with it after she had laid the tracks down in Los Angeles and what was left was a sugary MOR just OK record when it could have been brilliant - record companies didn't give a flying f.... then (and they still don't now) about aristry it's all about the gelt still A&M were better than most.

  • This actuallly reminds me of the Bay City Rollers!! lol.. and thats a bit extreeme.. but god.. she should have stuck to her guns on this and just demanded it be bluesey! but hey.. i know what its like to be impressionable in the music industry! bummer! but the rest of her repetoir speaks for itself! she's still the best! :)

  • This is closer to the Vicki Carr original.

  • The original was by the Crystals. Elkie hated what they done to her vocal on the mixing.

  • Actually Vikki Carr recorded it hours before the Crystals did.

  • Sorry, never heard of Viki Carr.

  • Had a huge hit around '67 with It Must Be Him.Check her out on Youtube.

  • this is surreal.

  • I agree - A&M sent Elkie to the USA to record this and then "mixed all the bloody sould out of it " Miss Brooks' words not mine - also she never looks comfortable lip synching which is what she's doing here - she is a live singer ! Still good promise for Two Days Away which came 2 years after Rich Mans Woman which had this song

  • Could have been fantastic, I feel the producers did not use the volcal ability that Elkie has.Still she looks great.
