  • He was in fact displaying to a swan! When it took to the stream he ran along the bank trying to keep up. But I believe he found the females later in the year and was the father of the first chicks hatched in this country for donkey's years

  • Handsome!

I hope there was a female, and that she was impressed. It is great that people are reintroducing them.

  • Used to live in a village on the Plains and often visited The Bustard pub on the way to Shrewton. They really are magnificent to see, although I've never seen one on the wing. It looked like.... a field turkey? Admittedly, besides it being beautiful, it did make me think of Christmas dinner.

  • Yum,Yum! Imagine the amount of breast meat you could get off one of these! That's probably the reason for their previous demise in the UK.Was this bird living wild or was it in captivity? Wings clipped in a fenced field etc? I know they are breeding these near Salisbury plain to release back into the wild, hence my interest in knowing if it was wild or being kept. Thanks for posting,I've been out to the Gert Bustard Inn on Salisbury plain a few times for weekend bike rallies.

  • i was wandering where the birds face and ass is. i wanted to see the bird what i saw was a bird messing with grass with hidden face not fair.

  • its once in a blue moon you see one of these in the uk
