I pay no attention to the "nay" sayers of Buddhism, The open-minded approach that His Holiness takes to all the questions, and presentations of theory's cements true Buddhism. He offers no opinions, no debate, he simply accepts what he is told, interprets it, and offers his interpretation. He does not force his point of view on anyone.
@MegaShamrock89 Not just that, I think that people in the west are very good at overlooking the wealth of philosophical thought of which Buddhism is the heir. Ancient Indian writings really contain a very sophisticated philosophy of mind. You simply cant seem to explain this fact to western educated people without shoving the texts into their faces. Usually you get some embarrased paternalising remark about new age yobbos reading too much into ancient religious texts or whatever.
4:40 the physicist don't understand the phenomenon, that is a problem, but the buddhist teachers do not even understand enough to see what the problem is.
There is nothing buddhist teachings can do to address these problems. The response to buddhist teachings to anything on the conventional level, "the completely distorted truth" (samvrtti satya) which thy do not understand is to devalue its importance by pointing to the ultimate level, "the truth of ultimate benefit"...
(paramartha satya) which is essentially a cop out. It's like a doctor who cannot heal your illness and then helps you reach acceptance and equanimity by pointing out that you will have to die somehow anyway.
While it is true that for the final solution of suffering, only paramartha will solve the problem , it is foolish to think that this puzzle within the samvrtti could be solved by a culture that didn't even care enough about the samvrtti to abolish an atrocious system of serfdom !
The system of serfdom needs to go and we need to embrace the future of a Resource Based Economy--and explore quantum mechanics and use it for computation.
you have some great stuff here
