  • Sad but lovely. The morning after 9/11 I went into the office at work shell-shocked like everyone else and I put the Sting webcast recording up on my computer and this came on, and it seemed so fitting. Thinking of that day today.

  • Phew, 10 years ago today. Odd to think it's been that long

  • what a respectable man

  • The circle is complete. Osama Bin Laden is now dead. We remember the victims today.

  • thanks a LOTT for posting thiss.

  • Crimen Sollicitationis

  • @dontamior Wrong place.

  • Best ever in music world is Mr.STING!

  • moi je suis french and il like FRAGIL because is faboulous moment for me. merci beaucoup. iselou

  • If someone broke into your home and killed everyone there (if you had family members sleeping) would your first thought be, "I wonder what their religion is? "Of course not. You would want to seek justice for the innocent lives that were lost. They did not deserve to die. Had they known this would happen, they would not have put themselves in harm's way. You would have told them in advance if you knew. So many lives lost, needlessly. To what end? Did the murderers please their god? I think not.

  • hey everyone, can't you just stop fighting for once? all this fighting over who is right & who is wrong is what caused this day to happen in the 1st place. can't we just please, get along. I don't care if your an american (which I am) or muslim, or whatever, stop all this fighting and stop the anger. this day still brings tears to my eyes & a pain to my heart, and a lump stays in my throat that won't go down, when i'm thinking of this day. please. stop fighting. so this day doesn't happen again.

  • Debate is useless...whatever happened, happened !!!......Sting is right, our thoughts and love go to the victims and to the the families of those who are left behind who have to carry on through grief and sorrow wishing that the last words they said to there wife, husband, brother and sister or friend had never been said, what is done cannot be undone, and whichever God they believed in will take them into his open arms. RIP.

  • It really pisses me off how so called americans can post anti american statements in the wake of that terrible day. Its one thing to hate what our goverment has done but to hate the ppl is wrong i myself am a proud american and proud new yorker who on that day lost 2 of my best friends in the attacks and almost lost my brother. If you dont like it here leave theres plenty of other countrys that will except you. We as americans should be united not divided. God bless our troops and america.

  • @nyisl280 your troops blessed? :D Why would god bless one nation and not the other one?

  • this act was totaly pointless needles it does not matter how you feel about americans it is not the people its polations people in power the american people are just like everyone else we are all different hate is the worst things about humans it will kill us all one day if we dont top it thank you sting for this song god bless all the people this day affected it should not of happend it was not the american people fault simple.

  • awesome performance, rip the victims, go sting, great song, thanks a lot for posting this.

  • Thanks, Gordon. As a long-time American fan, I can say that you have once again spoken for all of us. You are certainly a class act.

  • dominicans101 Take it easy. I am not a fan of religion or whatever. Don't waste energy on this. Support a sniper, Special ops person. SEALs, or what no

  • my comment is extremely kind compared to what religion has done and it is still doing to people

  • for the religious people out there , especialy muslims :fuck you, fuck your Muhamet fuckhead who was a rapist murdering fuckhead. there is no fucking god.

its BECAUSE of you those people died, its because of your fucking retarded beliefs those criminal coward irresponsible fucks drove the planes into the buildings

fuck religion and fuck religious people muslims, christians or whatever their stupid superstition may be. grow the fuck up fuckheads.fuck you

  • @dominicans101 sting says it better mate,

  • Reading these comments is a constant reminder of the need for insane asylums. As an American -- a PROUD AMERICAN -- I am tired of the endless whining of socialists, communists and whining little libnuts who want to blame us for all that is wrong in their pathetic little lives.

Here's an idea ... go out, get jobs and build your own economy! Don't buy from Wal-Mart or eat at McDonalds ... oh, and don't use your car because American companies refine the fuel that goes in the tank. Get a life!

  • @WVcoalguy I live in Australia, have a job, don't eat at McDonalds, but there is a lot that I dislike about the United States' corrupt and dysfunctional system of government, driven by special interests with big money, making extremely poor choices such as the criminal inavasion of Iraq, or going back a few decades Vietnam, the carpet bombing of Laos and Cambodia....Do some serious study of history, Einstein

  • Sting, Mark Knopfler, Eric Clapton, Chris Rea and Jean Michel Jarre... I apologize for the rest i don´t mention now! Real Musicians.

  • @MrStanek81

    maybe david gilmour!! :D :D

  • @falcao083 Yes David gilmour

  • Remembering all who were affected by the very sad events on 9/11. Thank you for a woonderful tribute and thanks to johanna who shared. ♥♥

  • awesome

  • America Forgets............ It is inconvenient for most......they wrap themselves in their own self importance Short memories........Do most even realize Americans die each day for them?

  • muy bueno sting, el ke vale es ke vale, un saludo desde españa, madrid, chaito.

  • amazing song!

  • I shared that day the feelings of this man! and I have to say I hate "gringos", but not the poeple, it´s their government, they where behind it and many other atrocities that mankind have witnessed like Vietnam, Kennedy´s assasination, Desert Storm and so on, they were behind all that...As mexicans we can tell, being the backyard of those assholes!! STOP THE NEW WORLD ORDER!!

  • Do you remember where you were and who called you that day and the messages they left you on your phones when they couldn't reach you. I do . 09-11-2001. We are very "Fragile".

  • The feeling will never Die !

  • It's business! Not everyone can afford to work for free! And even if we can.. it's up to us how we spend our earnings! Any idea how much it cost to put together a professional video? You go work for free!! I'm sure you can buy the video if you want! The `World is full of give-me's!! The ENTITLED generation!

  • I guess we living in America are lucky to be able to watch this video, but many videos are also not available for viewing here, for example many Russian music videos. So each country has its good and bad sides.

  • sting me with that song

  • wow.... thats pretty wild. i remember that day (most people do today i know), but you can see the feelings in their eyes. its pretty hardcore.

actually its a really good speech he does before the song. very personal and honest.

    thanks for sharing this video

  • I wrote a note 2 years ago, and it took me pages amd pages to try to find it..........all I want to say is, Listen to this beautiful music and PLEASE never forget. These were innocent people who did not deserve the cards they were dealt...each and everyone of you.........I hope it really is better in heaven..........Paul, you gave me BIG hope, and I will never forget you, at least for that.....I miss you ;-(

    xxx

  • sting the best

  • Incredible Sting, great musi, great thoughts, by a great man...!

Please, all you people that admire good music, open your minds a bit more... : think of the pain, think of how it feels to be bombed...!

You don't have to be bombed to get to know how it feels...

    Kisses to all

  • I heard about this and this is the first time I have seen it....very moving

  • And don't forget that Sting lost a very close friend in those towers that day.. The choice of going on stage that very night was a very brave act of peace and strenght, a real statement to who that magnificient human being is.

  • Sting, thanks to you. I´m sure, you will have a place in the history books of the greatest people in the world ..

  • great video

    well done my friend

    great job

    thanks Johanna for sendin me

    kisses

    Fernanda

  • heel mooi bedankt ,johanna

  • a reminder - NOT of 11-9-01 - but of what we are, always......D

  • my fav artiste

  • couple thousand people died so what... but what you can do with the collective insanity. just look at human history...

  • @avilagtetejeama ... very, very true...Sept 11 was an attack on humanity which ripped a gaping wound in the collective soul

  • livingeasi, I hope that you evolve and become more than a useless waste of space on this earth

  • actually im affraid of people who acts blindly good hearted. In spanish we say: de buenas intenciones está empedrado el infierno. W H Auden said "happy the hare at morning, for she cannot read/ the hunters midnight thougths. I say: happy the sheep at morning, for she cannot read/ the sweet sheperd·s midnight thoughts

  • sting rules!he can do no wrong n my book.

  • Das beste Konzert das ich je gesehen habe. Kann das Video nur empfehlen.

    Emotion pur.

  • if blood will flow when wrong and rage are one, changing by the rummours of the official lies/tomorrow news will wash the claims away/ but something in our minds will stay/ perhaps the initial act was meant to clinch the eternal argument thet all things come with violence and all things ever will/ for all those born beneath a faker star/ lest we forget how fragile true is. ....

  • always feel that peace

  • @yeatsrilke you don't have the lyrics right or is that on purpose

  • he says, "I don't wanna give this meaningless act of violence.....what?" can someone tell me please? I can't understand.

  • credence

  • he said "credence" and I would take that to mean, to give this meaning. I think he meant, he sees murder as meaningless.

  • Where were you on 9/11/01? hiding under a rock?

  • Oh, I am antimperialist, but as my father said: do you imagine what would we be upon other hands? Russians, germans, or chinese or japanese, or... arabians? For lainamericans, we would surely be in cages, waiting for our turn to be eaten. Otherwise, global charity? ha ha, absurd ilusion cause men are crimminals

  • @yeatsrilke

people like you, so assured in the stagnation and inability of the world's cultures to evolve, are the reason real change is so difficult to achieve. you scream at the top of your lungs about the impossibility of the task even as those who attempt to affect the change struggle. are you frightened of the prospect that this planet can be unifed? do you quake in the night at the thought of communion between all people? or are you just happy to see the pain that division brings?

  • Which is why you reconsider your vote before making it.

It's ignorance on your part not lies on his.

  • because of saudi terrorists ,lets destroy iraq and afghanistan ....

  • You're a damned idiot.

  • El gran terrorista del mundo es tu pais, que contamina al mundo con su odio e idiologia estupida de consumismo muy alejada del cristianismo que profesan haaa y cristo era de una tribu arabe.

The big terrorist of the world is your country, which it contaminates to the world with his hate and idiologia nitwit of consumerism much removed from the Christianity that they profess haaa and jesus was of an Arab tribe

  • Where are you studying?

  • "For ALL have sinned and come short of the Glory of God...." I pray for all of humanity; All have lost their way. "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." God show us the Way...

  • Beautiful what he said in the beginning.... Sometimes out of tragedy you witness the worst of humanity...and the best as a reaction.... Bush and cheney are ignorant assholes. Who gets a C atr Harvard or Yale, only these a*** need a lesson in ethics and responsible behaviour

  • Ted Kennedy was expelled from Harvard for cheating. So much for liberal ethics.

  • "Who is Free to choose? Who is beyond the law? Who is healed? Who is Housed? Who speaks? Who is silenced? Who salutes longest? Who prays loudest? Who dies first? Who laughs last?

look for the moment when pride becomes contempt."

  • Compelling words of wisdom

  • OH ! I forgot to say he brought HOPE,

    just like the Firefighter.

( Un-liked Stupid ex- president Bush, he did not)

Just like President Obama did in January he brought Hope, in middle of mess.

Hope and comfort is Very important in middle of Tragic.

    Peace Out .

    Teri

  • I was about to go to Sleep.

And then there it was, this video

    This shows his Greatest !

What a Beautiful ! Humanitarian Act.

No One - No Politician, no President, No one

expressed our Grief that Day like Sting did.

    Amen !

Got Bless him and every Human being that day.

    Love,

    Teri from NY

  • It is not a humanitarian act. It's an act of consolation out of grief and arguably selfishness. Humanitarian act is a rich person donating all except for enough of his money to live on to charity.

Sting didn't express the grief, he more or less represented them.

  • Stings moment of silence at the end speaks volumes. Well done.

  • I agree the multinational thing is causing

    problems.

  • eins meioner most favorits..

  • Is there any chance you could run the audio from this through an expander and remove the horrific limiting, pretty please? Joe.

  • "This video is not available in your country due to copyright restrictions." - WoW! Freedom of the western civilization here we go! Is it business or politics doing this crap???

  • @kingstoncruisers not everything is free.

  • @kingstoncruisers Its called International Copyright Law. Has nothing to do with freedom, unfortunately. Rather, its purported to 'protect' artist revenue. Don't blame the West. Thank the Chinese.

  • @Myuzishin True. :) However, law may have changed, I can play this video again.

  • GOD BLESS AMERICA!! NEVER FORGET!!!

  • I retract immediately the last part of what I said but you people in the U.S. have absolutely NO idea about what goes on in Europe. It infuriates me no end as we are bombarded with your pointless crap day in and day out. Look at a map sometime. I recommend Dora the Explorer...Or try High School, not the musical. Don't try the patience of us Irish. We have enough on our plates with you 2nd hand policies and being raped by your multinationals.

  • It's easy to point fingers at "you people." But what does that mean. Certainly it is not all of us. Furthermore, I get upset with the voting majority and the limited and lackluster representatives we are presented with, but how can I blame a southern Bush supporter for his ignorance. Isn't it a systemic issue of his upringing? How much real control does a person have over that. Are you so different from them at the core, or did you just have the luxury of a "better" upbringing.

  • GOD BLESS AMERICA TODAY AND FOREVER......MY HOME SWEET HOME...! still on pain for sept/11/01.... we will never forget.... God bless us..! Amen.

  • It's in Italy at his estate. This was supposed to be a celebration and international telecast for the release of an album, I believe. You can glance around and see the stellar lineup. There are actually one or two songs that have additionally been released. Rather like an Irish wake, sometimes music is the only thing one can do to grasp love out of terror. Pax vobiscum. All we are saying is give peace a chance xoxoxox

  • Did this take place in NYC, or somewhere else?

  • I agree Soerensensen - Sting is a beautiful man & has a beautiful nature. He's from my home town & he is the salt of the earth. he never 4gets where he comes from & sings songs that 'matter'. keep it going Sting xxxx

  • I thought this was a thoughtful and tactful way for Sting and the band to handle the emotions that were being experienced in the present moment.

  • heel mooi johanna

  • inside job?? sounds a silly way to knock down a couple of buildings

  • Beautiful music and cleverly beautiful lyrics

  • hmm i think the chorus would sound fantastic if sung by a children choir...

  • Sting a MYTH......R.I.P TO ALL VICTIMS of the WTC.....

  • would he also sing a tribute to the MILLIONS of INDIANS,killed by the WHITEMAN . . . and so on

  • you're underestimating sting. I agree with rewa111 and satrianicrack, but just because sting says he is against violence he doesn't say he agrees with US politics. listen to his music.

  • Firstly, the vast majority of Native Americans who died because of Europeans died due to disease- often before the Europeans themselves even reached the natives (the old world diseases spread ahead of them).

Secondly, there's no such thing as "the whiteman". That's racist. There is only the human race; also, people of every skin colour have committed atrocities. Africans, Chinese, Natives, Europeans; no ethnicity is without a history of evil- nor without a history of good.

  • Also, Sting, as well as many, many other performers, DO sing tributes to others, and about other tragedies.

  • i feel sorry about the people who died at 9/11 , inocent people but i agree with BABACE28 too.

  • 9/11 was an inside job you assholes, stop talking about terrorism, fuckin assholes....

  • Inside job or not, that's still technically terrorism.

  • Very TRUE!. the science does not lie !

  • Number one STING.

  • i agree.. :D

  • That was a sad and eerie ending...considering what happened that day. :-(

  • Murve Says - Gosh what a bunch of TWATS

  • remember... [*]

  • Never forget them.

  • 85% of world's wealth and resources go to the Global North (The U.S. and its allies), which is only 20% of the world's population. Other 80% of the world live in total poverty. No one seems to sing songs and care about those dying because of hunger and basic human needs. I am not justifying terrorism, but unless the U.S. stops acting like a tyrant, stops stealing resources from the undeveloped countries, and share the same, terrorism is the only unconventional way of the weak to act.

  • yeah, i'm with u but usa it's gona be always a tyrant country, becausa it's usa, the "global north" and that gives them right to act like a king of the world, and that is the world we're live today, a sad reality.

  • Not trying to victimize civilians, we have plenty of ignorant monkeys, but I think things are a bit more complicated than that. People seem to use the word "US" as some sort of all-inclusive force. In honesty, your global scope can be applied to the US itself. 1% of the population wields all the wealth and power here. There is plenty of poverty and inequality in the US as is elsewhere. The US is not a tyranny, the people that run things are, as are the leaders of many other nations.

  • Bush, Cheney and that rubbish did a big harm to US image. I don't understand why so many people voted them. When people vote those leaders, it has consequences.

  • just a point to make to the people below. first off, people who die in the war(s) die fighting. people who die of allergies die of an natural force. The people in the WTC died in an attack. A mass murder.

And, to the guy on about the system working well...

    It really hasnt.

  • sperm

  • Thank you Sting for such a respectful tribute to 9/11.

  • @juliekstroup : Watch the movie "Zeitgeist" to understand "9/11" better.

  • @EliMirelli learn to filter what you watch.

  • @EliMirelli learn to filter what you watch. zeitgeist is biased crap and not worthy of anyones attention. and that i not what this video OR the comment you are responding to is about. so shush, and enjoy the music.

  • @RadicalPayne: Filtering = Censorship. Let the people decide if it is worthy or not.

The only part I agree about is, this is not the right place for this discussion. But, as this is a free place, I decided to mention it. FREE place, remember?

  • @EliMirelli I think I understand it pretty well - I lost a friend and a lot of people lost more than that so I should consider myself lucky. Will look into the movie.

  • Well done to all for ruining a genuine sentiment to people that died that morning and talking about war crimes.

  • Agree - this was a heartfelt expression of sorrow, not meant to be politcal yet there are all these responses here that are. For those who are Americans responding, do you vote in every election? Do you do what you can to be heard and function within the system which has worked quite well for 200+ years? Or do you just want to complain and not work for a better future? Just curious.

  • Myself, I just can't understand why so many have to feel like killing someone is the answer to the problems. That only creates MORE problems and conflicts! I agree Bush reallly dropped the ball and now we are paying dearly for it, but at the same time he did the only thing he COULD do. It was brave men and women that made the difference when 911 occurred. Just so you know Hazor777, bravery doesn't mean picking up a gun.

  • The only terrorist is bush u ass holes...bush explote the wtc

  • I agree! Fucktards like hazor777 couldn't see truth or facts if they were the inside of his own eyelids. Bunch of dumb far right fucktards. I hope they all had fun being the laughing stock of the planet as the world watched them "teabag" each other. What a bunch of losers, stupid neocon inbred dipshits.

  • Sadly, it's ignorant ppl like you that make the US look bad.

  • pace ... quanto siamo fragili...

  • pagankitty, ur so right. understanding and compassion is the thing moste people are missing today, and it hurts too see how missplaced things have become!!

    R.I.P......9/11 from norway

  • The song is dedicated to those innocents just going to work on 9/11 and the brave men and women who scrawled their SS numbers on their skin so they could be identified if they were killed. That is true bravery, to face death and do what you believe is right. It should be NO ONE'S RIGHT to FORCE anything on ANYONE! It's done many times in the name of peace. There can be no peace until we as HUMANS can agree to disagree in a CIVIL manner and EMBRACE differences instead of being threatened by them.

  • OH really? ! TELL THAT TO THE FUCKING TERRORISTS !! Till then Ill be "speaking" my peace w/ the barel of a gun!

  • I had a very dear friend that was a fire fighter...Fitz never thought twice...he scrawled his SS number on his arm and went back in to find survivors...he never came back out. He left a wife and a 2 year old behind. Your alive, he isn't, and your talking about speaking with a gun? Then let me tell you something, you are no better than they are. Violence only get's more violence. I've been through enough crap to know that, too bad you haven't learned that lesson. I hope you never have to use it.

  • Peanut allergy kills 2 times more US citizens per year than terrorists do. Heart disease kills 6600 times more US citizens. Noone, Never has the right to kill an other human being. 1.500.000 people died in the war on Iraq. But Sting is great. This song is also great.

  • My person has nothing to do with those FACTS. I usually talk about it face to face with people. As I said noone has the right to kill, neither the 911 terrorists whoever they were. The significance of 911 is not comparable to peanut allergy deaths, but the "Terrorism" is comparable to "Allergy".

  • I fell sorry for the 9/11 victims but i also fell sorry for over several million people that died in Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam. And Americans are terrorists too. My country was bombed by the Americans and thousands of innocent people died in that bombing.

So Americans are as much terrorists as Jihad warriors are. That's the truth.

  • ye, america should look at themselves in other peoples eyes

  • straight up

  • i subscribe to that

  • From one side you're right, from the other side, all nations existing today, and all civilizations in history somehow made these mistakes at least once... There's a Hungarian saying: "The road to hell is braided with good intent". Let's not judge US, let's not judge muslims, like we are better, cuz probably we are not... Let's leave judgement to (any) God we believe, and let's change the world instead of pointing on each other!

  • I for one whole heartedly agree with you. It would be great to be alive to see the global community come together as "human beings" and realize that we're all members of the same race and that's the human race. Our differences can be a great thing we can bring together and innovate something new. I just hope we realize this before we destroy the world and each other. by the way that fucktard hazor777 speak for himself and a small % of idiots like him. He probably was one of those "teabaggers".

  • I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier

I know that the clubs are weapons of war

I know that diamonds mean money for this art

But that's not the shape of my heart

  • and then Sting can sing this beautiful song again, against all forms(!) of violence...

  • What are you think? How i feel when your country bombing my country(Serbia) in 2000??What for???What for??? What about 2500 people killed because of your bombing civil target???

You have to many killed people on your soul not just in Serbia

  • Justice? You say justice was made in Afghanistan and Iraq? With guns? Do you kill all who harm you? Or even who harm somebody else, like Serbia? (also bombed by US forces in the '90s) And why isn't there any US troops in Darfur? Why don't they fight for freedom of Tibet, and why didn't they send troops when Russia attacked Gruzia? And let's not talk a word about Izrael, would be a long chat too... How do America select the few "lucky" who can get some justice from US Army? I don't get it!

  • America's army can only be put in harm's way to protect America's interests. It is terrible what happened in Darfur - this is why America funds the United Nations. America can't be all things to all people in the world.

  • Still I don't get it! If America is the hero of the world as Gabi said, then America should be there everywhere. If America is bombing Asian and European countries just becouse of America's interests, then America is just like Germany in 1938, not less and not more. But let's not argue here, let's just bomb each others' houses! If it's the right solution to you... =)

  • Oh yea...(??!!) Th United Nations : a shining pillar of human nobility blah,blah,blah.....BULLSHIT! The first thing America should have done was to close the UN down & send all the assholes back to their own piece of dirt! FUCK the UN !!!

  • Normal way of life is also too subjective. America is spreading their religion of freedom like Europeans spread the religion of Christianity. I don't really like this 21th century crusade, it's too oppressing! Just ask muslims what they think about America's normality ruining their thousand-year-old traditions. It's not about what I think about how muslims treat their women! It's not normal for me, but is it really an acceptable solution to bomb their country for a change these things?
