I think with the pedal base static is more realistic, cause the seat movement just simulates the gforces on your body. In a real car, your legs must also struggle to keep on the static pedals.

You also forgot about insurance fuel tyres and spares plus the cost of getting to any track in the world in any car you wish to drive, in any weather conditions. Tell you what, I'll spend a few of grand on a simulator and go racing for the cost of an internet connection like most professional racing drivers do for practice, and you buy your "car" and we'll see who spends most eh?

@xXxPingvinxXx The driver is driving a computer simulation, so the idea is not to crash at all. Generally speaking when playing at this level you do feel the seat recoil with the impact but pure crash physics are a waste of computer resources so the game developers don't waste too much time on that aspect of car physics. Car to car contact etc is good as it is far more important to reproduce the feel and responce of a car when it is being driven under normal realistic race conditions.

@brkicmi13 So long as you play on PC and have a Buttkicker fitted, you will feel things like gunfire and explosions through the vibrations it produces in the seat. In the same way as the Buttkicker produces vibrations from the engine and gearshift sounds when racing. The Buttkicker is that piece of kit that hangs down from the bottom of the seat at the rear.

The motion seat will remain fixed though as the actuators will not respond to your physical body movements within the game.

@b0untyking3 Sorry my friend, consoles are fun and for gaming, You will only find true simulation on PC along with the ability to run the software that is required to run this equipment and other kit that can only be run on a PC. Fahim has improved this simulator with a fully working Ferrari dashboard and instruments - its awsome. This cannot be done on a console.

@Ayelis I think you miss the point here, in these cars the braking acceleration and cornering forces do have a similar effect to what you see in this video. Its only the seat harness that prevents you from moving around in the seat in a real car. The idea of this type of simulator seat is not to completely replicate true movement but to give the driver another level of feedback from a simulator so he has a better feel of what is happening to the car he is driving.

The reason the driver is using a seat belt is to hold him tight into the seat. this is obviously not for safety reasons it is so that he feels all of the movement from the actuators and therefore he feels every movement of the car he is driving, These movements and vibrations cannot be observed in a video they can only be felt by the driver.

Being held tight into the seat by a five point harness also makes a real racecar driver feel every movement of the car in exactly the same way.
