  • Here is a question for all defenders of pure capitalism. Why is it that in every single nation which has a publicly financed health care system, and this is true in every single country... Why is it that there has been no attempts to bring down their system. In every country, Canada, Sweden, Japan, Australia and so on there were never mass movements or mass protests. If it is so terrible for the commons to pay for health care than where are the mass protests? Where????

  • Who is advocating PURE capitalism? The USA has not been pure capitalistic in all of the 20th century and even before.

Capitalism, however, has without question made the USA the economic leader of the world, which has made it possible to lead in every (any) other way.

Compare the USA to any country; all of those countries either DO have people coming here for higher quality treatment, or they dream of it.

Can't say I know of such "protests", yet I haven't researched it either. Have you?

  • @pdburk

Well I do know that few people come from other industrial democracies in western europe and Australia. I have friends who are Japanese and they told me that its insane to have any society where people foot their own health care bill. I also know several people who came from Czech Republic and ended up leaving saying that its impossible to make a living in the US.

  • @Piercetp

This may be why Taiwanese officials would not use the US system as a model stating that the "United States does not have a health care system. America has a profit making system." Heath care should be about saving lives and not making large profits for insurance companies.

  • Our capitalistic system has been our great strength, and does distinguish the USA from many other Western democracies.

Part of that distinguishing factor is the fact that health care in the USA is the BEST in the WORLD—HANDS DOWN. (However, the distribution system—cost, insurance, etc.—needs MUCH attention!)

Innovation after innovation in the medical field (and virtually every other field of study) has been part of—and because of—our competitive, capitalistic system in the USA.

  • Socialism is NOT the same thing as Soviet styled Communism. But you dont have to be very old to remember when such communism (which is an economic system) had been around long enough to fail (remember the Cold War?), even though its creators and supporters claimed that it would watch capitalism fail. The opposite happened—capitalism proved to be the superior economic system.

The USA is a world leader BECAUSE of that capitalistic system.

  • @pdburk

I think you have too much faith in Capitalism. Its rather interesting that those of us who are progressive equate freedom with individual liberty and the basic rights of people to live their own lives without restrictions, as long as they do not do harm onto othere.

By contrast those on the right equate freedom with allowing corporations to make enormous profits and soak as much money out of consumers as possible.

Does this make the USA a world leader???

  • Mattb 127: I also want to live longer, and want everyone to have that opportunity too.

Have you heard about the new federal gov't's "recommendation" to have women not get mamograms until age 50 instead of 40?

In this nationalized health care plan, this would not merely be a recommendation, but state policy.

I paid for my own back surgery when my insurance company refused my claim. I understand, to say the least. Yet we need reform (regulation) , not a whole new system.

  • If you really think that this plan will "save money" in either a personal or national arena, I'm afraid you will have a very rude awakening someday soon.

Government does not become smaller on its own.....if ever. Once they have the money (new taxes), there is no going back.

"A penny saved is a penny earned"...not a penny spent, over and over and over again. More money spent is more money spent. There is no "savings", nor will it be the "same".

  • Like Obama said, It's Time To Deliver.

Well Obama did delivered us a killer, for now we know why Obama said not to jump to conclusions about Nidal Hasan.

The gunman who killed 12 people at Ft. Hood is Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan, and he is listed last year as a participant in Obamas Homeland Security Policy Institutes presidential transition task force.

  • Credo has a new petition to get the stupak amendment removed. They will send a coat hanger to each of the dems who voted for it with every signature. Please take a moment to sign it. The link can be found in my comment section.

  • I hear ya. I voted for the lesser of two evils.

I voted for Clinton, Bush & Bush again. I did not bother with McCain- I knew something was up when he jumped on board to bailout Wall Street. My radar went off and I actually started to investigate. That was when I started listening to Alex Jones again and finding other news sites like federaljackDOTcom and you-tube like sacramaniacmc and 91177info and others..

  • Gonna send ya' an invite. If you wanna read somthing about this reform and its disguise look at my link in my blog. The Absolute Truth to Healthcare Reform.

I really do believe it is about control by the RFID, eugenics, euthenasia and forced vaccinations. Alex Jones hit on it last Sunday (in my fav) I use to laugh at him 10 years ago. I ain't laughing anymore!

  • God Bless him! I know it is some tough times for you all. The wars, the defecit, terrorism, the economy, H1N1 and a host of other worries. I don't envy the young. I feel bas as we should be providing a better and more peaceful future, however we are not.

When the citizens ever decide to revolt like they should have done already. It will be to late.

  • I use to be a dem, I changed when Reagan was prez. He supported our military strongly and we were being shown as weak and he seemed to give us strength. I was out of politics as I was in the service. This guy we got now is a joke. But who did the repubs have? I am afraid Obama is Bush III and walking us into a NWO! he is a puppet.

  • I am for that, however this current legislation and these corrupt politicians are not all about care.

  • See we agree after all. It needs some reform.

I expect better from government. As it looks now as it is an invasion of privacy, another tax, socializing 1/6 of the economy. AMERICA DESERVES BETTER!

  • So we are even. Down with the current reform HR 3962 and bring in better reform. Tweek what we have!

  • Whatever, cut and run little man!

    Can't dispute my demands?

  • Sure, if we can get the deficit down, cancel cap &trade, unemployment down to 5 percent, take the reform away from the greedy - corrupt politicians and into sane competent people that will bring VALUED reform.

Get the troops out and do reform that way. I AM FOR IT!

  • Show me a cancer patient! You think h/c will be better with the gov't involved?

You are delusional. It is not about care. This is a take of 1.6 of the economy, it is a tax, a way for the gov't to control its populace, THIS IS A HOODWINK FOR SOCIALISM!

Don't fall for that left sided media Propaganda bullcrap!

  • If this were such a good "health care plan", why don't those beloved DEMS (and Repubs for that matter) cheerfully sign on themselves??

Savior Obama wouldn't sign THAT bill!!

    Hmmmm....... (!!!!)

  • novoneiro: WOW!!, You buy the rhetoric....hook, line and sinker!!

That's EXACTLY what the politicians WANT you to believe! Think for yourself, quit swallowing all their platitudes. The DEMS are lying to you. If you really think this is about caring for your health needs, you have got another thing coming.

    Wake up, America.

Tell me.......which of Obama's election day promises HAS he delivered on??

    Hmmmmm............REALITY CHECK!!

He's just your typical POLITICIAN.... not our SAVIOR!!

  • pdburk: WOW!! You buy the rhetoric.....hook, line and sinker!!

That's EXACTLY what the corporations WANT you to believe! Think for yourself, quit swallowing all their platitudes. The RepubliCONs are lying to you. If you really think this is about caring for your health needs, you got another thing coming.

    Wake up, America.

  • "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"

....however, I'm not looking to be flattered. Thanks, but no thanks.

novoneiro-- Don't believe all you hear, whether it's from what you call "RepubliCONS", corporations, DEMS, politicians in general, or even me.

    Think for YOURSELF!

(Do you really believe it's a "public option" just because that's what politicians named it?? "Option" implies choices, of which everyone will have FEWER if this becomes law. They choose their words well.)

  • Its not a government take over, its an "option"

    God bless Obamacare!

    Stop the lies.

  • Who is worse?

    Mediamatters or DemsFastResponse

Everything the republicans said was true, true, true. The dems are EVIL and taking over 1/6 of the economy. If it is so good why did THEY NOT sign onto the healthcare bill themselves. THEY only excluded themselves!

  • US has the worlds most expensive healthcare system - yet millions are not covered and americans do not live very long. Come to Scandinavia and see sane government. For the people and by the people....

  • It's my understanding Scandinavia has a 50% tax rate. . . and you can't call that sane government.

  • yes - 50% tax. For that we get: free healthcare, unemployent benefits, college education, affordable daycare for our kids

add up cost to those to your tax and see what you get.

with regards to healthcare - the bootom line is, that US healthcare is the ost expensive and inefficient healthacare in the world, and all other developed countries have "socialized" healthcare systems.

  • We are the most effecient...Many countries are not obligated to provide accurate numbers.

I don't care for your country at all. I care about my country. We are in a depression, the economy is in the tank, less tax for revenue is going in to the gov't, the gov't is spending increasing the defecit.

We have programs for daycare and education by leiu of tax deductions. I AM NOT INTERESTED IN SOCIALIZING H/C- We want to keep our liberties!

  • @anersmf

Don't bother trying to debate USAPatriot1966...it is a TOTAL WASTE of time. He's an ASS and KNOWS EVERYTHING....NOT!!!!!!!! That's why people like him are a MINORITY in the US...THANK GOD!!!!!!

  • I AM HERE!

    YOU SCARED UNclass63?

COWARD BOY, Run, Run, Run! Afraid to debate me because I outwit you and bring up good pointts. SLANDER SLANDER SLANDER that is all you libs know how to do! Not debate that you know you will loose!

    Bring it on!

  • I'm not afraid of you...You're nothing but a delusional POS that thinks you can intimidate people. Believe me, I taken on bigger bullies than you...smarter too. LOL

  • HAHAHA! So you think your smarter than me, far from it!

I am not a bully either. The only one who is delusional is you UNclassy63!

  • @geofiles

Have you EVER been to Scandinavia? I visited Denmark and Sweeden. Guess what. There are very few beggers (the only ones being foreign nationals). People do not lose their homes due to forclosures because they lose work. Infant mortality is far below that of the United States. I would add that if you were to ask anyone in Denmark or Sweeden if they wanted their government not to provide for their health care they would think you were insane.

  • Denmark and Sweeden has been hard hit by the global financial crisis. These countries were heavily invested in Wall St. Also they do not have a military wxpense as we have.

Anyone who claims they are lower in infant mortality rate is most likely lying, as they are NOT COMPLELLED to report factual numbers. We do in the USA because we look for facts the cause of death and other circumstances.

  • My father was born in Sweden. . . and he served in the U.S. military during WWII. The Swedish government did nothing to help fight against Hitler, or against the Socialist. In short, the Swedish became Socialist themselves.

  • Sweden was never a powerful military power. It was also a nation with stong pacifistic tendencies. Furthermore, Sweden had more to fear from Stalin than Hitler. Many Swedes supported Finland in its war of survival against the USSR and it was unthinkable to join in any alliance with the Soviets. I would add that Sweden did accept many Jews who fled persecution in the second world war.

  • @geofiles

In short, Scandanavia is a part of the world in which the interests of human beings take priority over the interests of corporations. It is a "we" society and not a "me" society.

  • What contributions has your health system contributed to healthcare?

PLUS, This is a takeover. It is not about care, it is another tax, about control. IT IS A HOODWINK for SOCIALISM.

If it was for care I would be for it. However IT IS NOT!

  • what's so bad about socialism?

  • Socialism invites COMMUNISM and alot of Progressives here in the USA want to invite communism.

I like my Bill of Rights, my right to vote, freedom of speech and religion, my right to bear arms, my individual freedoms to seek ones destiny as some many before me has. I want to pass those principles to my kids and grandkids.

  • Social Democracy is NOT the same thing as Communism. Marxist-Leninist Communism (not to be confused with other forms of communism such as the communism practiced by early Christians among others) is an authoritian system. Scandanavia has had democratic socialism for years and they have lower crime rates, higher life expectancies and better overall qualities of life than the US.

  • Social Democray (Socialism) Is a step towards communism.

Scandanavian countries have been hit hardest due to the collapse of Wall Street. It is now a welfare state amongst minorities and immigrants where the crime rate has soared. Like I said if you think you can expect a better life, BY ALL MEANS GO and experience it!

  • The US has by FAR the BEST H/C system in the world. Look how many people from other countries travel to the US to seek the best medicine. If it is expensive it is due to a lack of competition. Due to GOV'T regulation.

Even the new pln does not cover the millions they had promised, still leaving millions WITHOUT!

  • The current Democratic Party leadership is tainted by corruption, and the liberals among us are supporting Socialists with their agendas based on implementing Fascist, Marxist and Communist political doctrines into our own government. These Socialists are clearly a threat to everything we hold sacred in America, and they are gaining evermore control over our Democratic Party, our Nation, and the American people.

  • WTFE!!!!!!!!

  • Ronald Reagan in 1961 on the issue of medicare:

"Write those letters now. Call your friends and tell them to write them. If you don't, this program I promise you will pass just as surely as the sun will come up tomorrow." (cont)

  • (cont) "...And behind it will come other federal programs that will invade every area of freedom as we have known it in this country, until one day we will wake to find that we have socialism And if you don't do this, and if I don't do it, one of these days you and I are going to spend our sunset years telling? our children whit it once was like in America when men were free." - Sound familiar? Ronald Reagan, wrong then; just as the tea baggers and HC corporate shills are wrong now.

  • Every tried to puchuate a RR speech? - lol - Good luck!

  • "The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of 'liberalism,' they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." - Norman Thomas, former six-time U.S. Presidential candidate for the Socialist Party of America.

  • GOP = Politics & Profits OVER People in Progress!

    GOP = (GREAT OBSOLETE PITY)

  • It's great that you're calling the Republicans out on these flat out lies, hopefully this campaign will get the medias attention, since the "Mainstream Liberal Media" won't debunk these Republican myths to their face, nor tell them that the Public Option isn't unpopular.

CNN will let Republicans say that the Public Option has very little support, when their own poll got 61% in favor of a Public Option.

The Republicans are lying obstructionists. Call 'em out, and get to work on LIEbermann!

  • These numbers speak pretty loud and clear in my opinion. That's just one example. nytimes(dot)com/imagepages/2009/06/21/health/policy/21poll_graphic_ready.html

Where did you get those numbers?

  • 74% - Please provide the source of your claim. - Your figure is way out of line with all the polls I've seen.

  • In lieu of a response, I googled "% of American support a public option" and at the top of the list was a recent ABC News poll that said: 57% supported a public option, while only 40% opposed a public option. - That's actually a lower percentage of support for a public option than many other polls I've seen.

Again, please provide the source for your claim.

  • @im4wur2 Excellent. Thanks for the share.

  • geofiles - I see you have plenty of time to continue posting comments to this video, but not the time to back up your claims. - There's a surprise, not.

Why is it that so many who support the GOP have to lie about the facts to make their cases? - Answer, because the facts don't match their claims. - Good luck with that.

  • A TRIOLET FOR HEALTH CARE REFORM

An agenda for the Dems should be

to charge ahead as the stronger team

    than Insurance Company Republicans.

The Dem agenda needs Dirty Harry,

not Reid as a Mr. Rogers, it seems,

to get the committee from Lieberman

and have the leader of the party

be Alan Grayson, by all means,

    with national health for everyone!

  • ANYONE can use itsy-bitsy-little sound-bytes to try to make ANYONE look bad.

This video proves NOTHING, except that Obama and Dems will do ANYTHING to get their bill passed.

Why do the DEMS REFUSE to look at good ideas, even if they come from Repubs?

This bill IS more socialized medicine. More government control. If you do not recognize that fact, you are not looking at the truth. "Socialized" means more government control.

Why are DEMS (Obama) lying about that?

    DEMS, tell truth!

  • WHAT ARE YOU ON ABOUT?!?!!?

How did they edit the sound-bytes to make them look bad? Those sound-bytes are not taken out of context in any way, and you know that. This is something the Republicans are saying over and over, hell, you yourself just said it!

This video is about one simple issue. Don't lie. They've invited them to bring ideas, but all they got is TORT and "BUU! SOCIALISM!".

I've got dual citizenship, USA, and Sweden. Sweden is a Social Democratic country. Obama is Center-Right.

  • Myschly: These video sound-bytes supply NONE of their respective context. Do you understand "context"?

con-text "the parts of a written or spoken statement that precede or follow a specific word or passage, usually influencing its meaning or effect" (dictionarydotcom)

Obama is hardly "Center-Right", unless you want to compare him to socialism/communism. I prefer not to invite such systems of government into the USA. I've been to many socialist countries; it is not better there.

  • Yes it's true that this video doesn't supply context, but all the sound-bytes are the exact same as they would be with their context. I've seen all the bytes in their context, and none of them are misrepresented. Point to one single on that is?

Obama is center-right according to international standards (hell, even according to US standards).

    politicalcompass(dot)org/images/usprimaries_2008.png

Communism wouldn't work in the US, nobody is suggesting that. So stop talking about it already.

  • Myschly: Sure, these sound bytes are the exact same. That's my point....it's what the creator of this video had in mind.

The issues these sound-bytes represent are REAL issues, whether you agree with them or not. This video clip is a desperate attempt of one political party to silence the other. Pure politics.

Obama is absolutely NOT center-right according to US standards. He is EXTREMIST LEFT. Your little "image" link gives no source.

Socialism is next to communism. Wake up.

  • Huh? No it just proves the Dems point. They have multiple soundbytes because it's more than one Republican spewing this crap.

Yes and no. The topics are real issues, what they're saying however is nonsense fearmongering. When they bring up death panels, that's just a scare-tactic!

Maybe if you check the main site: politicalcompass(dot)org you'll find out more :)

If Obama were far left he'd be like Nader, and he's not. Not at all.

They're still very different. I live in Sweden, I know ;)

  • pdburk, i direct you to shame hannitard's apology for at least one (of many) deceitful tactics shame hannitard and faux noise use to LIE TO AMERICANS to advance their own propaganda.

the gop offers NOTHING for Americans. the gop had 6 years under geo w DUH MISSION ACCOMPLISHED DUH bush, and as a result, bush and the gop accomplished NOTHING for the American people.

  • Republicans if you are affraid of taxes give up your automatic raises

  • FKASG9SSM: You are merely showing your identification to a political party, not any type of intellectual discussion or understanding of this issue.

Please don't merely blindly follow a political party. That is very unwise.

Our two-party system, as imperfect as it is, actually promotes better policies than any one party system.

Dems and Repubs both offer important discussion. For you to speak of the GOP as you have only shows your willingness to be led mindlessly. Think for yourself.

  • I don't want to pay for half of their healthcare insurance anymore if they are so against all the rest of us having it. How can we stop paying those millionaires' (more than half of them) way?

  • This is great! The republicans have been screwing the working class for so long that they've become invincible ... or so they believe. Now they're being called out for their BS despite using the same tired old reasons they always have! Wish the vid was longer so I could hear more of these parrots repeating the same crap over and over! I was amused by this video

  • Loving it. Nice work although I still do not see enough of this type of calling them out. I get email after email from my republican "Friends" who claim all of the above lies and more. I am a little scared the Senate will water the bill down so badly that we will end up with little reform.

  • Where are Republican members of Congress getting all of these talking points and why do they keep using them when they all seem to be factually inaccurate?

Whoever is feeding them these lines they'd better find more reliable sources or they're going to lose what little remaining credibility they have.

  • what credibility?

  • Well, I was trying to be kind. lol

  • They get these talking points from the insur. lobby and facts are not considered. They have a team of sociologist and psychologist who find buzzwords that they believe will frame the debate in their favor. The corp. news media does this as well. In the mean time, these lobbyists have another team working the other side who are actually crafting the bill in their favor in case something does pass. The average citizen in this great country does not stand a chance. We just do not have enough money

  • What we all have to do as voters is teach each other how to distinguish between corporate public relations departments (and anti-consumer talking heads on television) who see nothing wrong with lying through their teeth on the one hand

    and

on the other hand, knowledgeable, dedicated people who are working on our behalf.

The only way we can tell the difference is if we read good newspapers and know enough to be able to distinguish the two groups.

  • Well Said

  • i hope this becomes viral..so many ppl would be like umm what....wait a second..

  • I've discovered in my own area in up state NY that there are several insurance programs already in place that mirror what might be offered in the exchange and easily converted if the bill passes. Why would a large insurance co, like Blue Cross offer such an insurance policy, if this bill wasn't supported by this industry..are we seeing theater or the real deal?

  • Excellent. Unsure how the Senate opposition will shape up, but in local TV news "takes" believe there's trend forming of finding one large item (issue, cause), to object to, and one small item for each region or Senator to seize on, so he or she can "hide behind" two items that are not identical to those of each other Senator. That would make arguing against each issue or each Senator prohibitively expensive in terms of advertising and/or politicking.
