I honestly think this is dumb if they started teaching like this at my school I doubt anyone would participate with the singing n dancing or answer the questions the teAcher asks the class no matter how much he tries to encourage everyone
I so wanna visit that school! Lol my class was watching The Ron Clark Movie & I just had to like wonder about the academy. It looks educationally fun!! Too bad I won't have the chance to go there :( I'm in 8th now so, yeah . Sigh.
this seems like a good school...but schools like this are selective. They essentially only take the good students, either discipline wise or academic wise. I will be impressed with a school that takes the dumbest and roughest kids and turn them into swans.
Actually, the RCA consciously chooses students who struggle academically and who have disciplinary issues. What you see IS an accurate representation of the average classroom, including large class sizes. The fact that RCA succeeds is not a result of working with only gifted and well behaved children (because that isn't the case), but of the school's passion, hard work and commitment to education.
This man needs not to teach children, but adults to me more like him. I am pursuing to be a teacher and I hope I become a teacher like him or my favorite teacher. I can't believe he shook a girl when first taught in harlem.
@ThomasHayden1995 He didn't shake the girl, he shook the desk...with the girl in it. I am suprised that no one else didn't do more to that child (lol)....have you ever even visited a school in Harlem? You would run back to home screaming (lol)....also, that same little girl whose desk he shook? He ended up tutoring beyond school hours because he believed in her. She ended up with perfect scores in English & Math on the state assessment. No one else in the NYC schools achieved that.
my teacher ( i am in 5th grade goin on 2 6th ) is really good friend wit mr.clark and she can be really funn and she as a lot of energy wit is aweosme! and when she sings a song lik in class she says "take out ya P.O.D!! PP OO DD!!" and every1 is lik aww stop singing. and she will have this one song stuck in her head ans she will pick up her mic and start bleting out "Baby" by justin bieber or any random song we sung in class. man imma miss her this year. she is one really cool teach. luvs ya!!!
I have a feeling it gets a bunch more real when you're actually a student there and you feel a lot of the same feelings you'd feel in any other respectable traditional school.
Of course though, all the bad feelings are probably like at the lowest possible levels. I just don't feel like this would even start to work for a public school, especially my school.
I'm not saying I wouldn't love to go there though.
But those desks have no where to hide my cell phone/gameboy... =/
I think every school can have as much impact on its students.... it doesn't have to be fancy like this one but just the belief of the teachers and positive actions can motivate sutdents to be better.
