  • They are good! I want to see a live one! I was never interested in these stuff, when I was little. But now looking back, its quite good!

  • intriguing

  • Why are so many Bunraku videos on YouTube with the same puppet and background?

  • THE CURSE OF THE ETERNAL BUNRAKU

  • Comment removed

  • Most of the Bunraku videos on YouTube were filmed at a tourist attraction in Kyoto that provides a sample of traditional dance, tea ceremony, Kyogen comedy, court music, and flower arranging, in addition to traditional puppet theater--all in about an hour. Unlike a performance at a regular theater (like the National Theater) where you are not allowed to use a camera, the Gion Corner in Kyoto permits photography of the show, which includes this 10-minute piece, usually known as "Yaoya Oshichi."

  • @Sawrattan Because there aren't many places where Bunraku is still preformed. This place, the Gion Corner, is probably very popular.

  • awesome

it makes me want to go to Japan right now

  • god the camera work sucks! let's just kill all the subtlety of the art with a nauseating jerky view... ugh!

  • i just read that josh hartnett will star in a movie called "bunraku" with all characters exept him being played by bunraku puppets.

  • Yeah he's gonna be in it but I dunno bout everyone else being puppets. Demi Moore and Gackt Camui are also in it! (Can't wait!)

  • me too I want to see it it sounds romantic huh I wonder what will happen only time will tell!!!! OwO *gets glomped*

  • getting glomped hurts when done properly

  • The art of bunraku lives on, i think chikamatsu monzaemon was the master of all art!

(chikamatsu monzaemon is the man who created bunraku)

  • very very interesting-what skill and beauty of movement- I'm so pleased that this wonderful tradition is continued.

  • I love this play so much.

  • I want to see that in Japan man... very... interesting. Thanks for posting!

  • Thank you for posting this. I'm from a Japanese family and have loved bunraku all my life.

  • hi!! i loveee bunraku also, i was wondering if you new (or your family) anything specific about bunraku techniques or anything really as im doing this huge paper on it (required for school) and i picked bunraku puppets as i think its amazing... if you new anyone or had any information that would be great thnak u!!=)

  • I'm actually from a Japanese family in Hawaii--and most of the clan isn't involved in the arts. I'm so sorry I can't help you out! (Myself, I'm an opera singer in training.)
