  • Beautiful, she makes it look so effortless - that's how gymnastics should be

  • Never done gymnastics, or any other sport, in my life, but this doesn't look that hard. Dont know what everyone is so impressed about

  • @Gilch30 I hope that s a joke.

  • She works that beam like it's 15 feet wide. Simply unforgettable.

  • Nadia Comaneci is really a great person and she is my idle forever and ever :)

  • e da 0:24

  • gostei da parte 0:10

  • It's just simply beautiful. :-D

  • I've been watching videos of more recent gymnasts from Kim to Podkopayeve, Miller and Khorkina etc but good as they were, none of them have Nadia's incredible poise and grace, particularly on the beam. She is still such a joy to watch.

  • It's amazing that, if you look at her routine for the first time, you just cannot keep track of all the elements, since it's all packed with wonderful artistic moves that you simply cannot memorize so easily, since the structure is really unique. Nowadays, you can remember a routine from the start to the finish if you see it just one time, because it's all "trick-trick-arm movement-trick"...

  • shes so smooth and light on her feet

  • beam routines look so different now. I wonder what's considered more difficult-cause sometimes stuff that may seem more simple is the hardest of all

  • Best

  • So Graceful & Beautiful

  • Es es ser una gimnasta de 10 esta super genial!!!!! simplemente maravilloso

  • I`s a good thing she preformed it in the 70`s beacause if she competed that nowadays, the score would ave been like a 15. blah blah blah... and the judges would find mistakes that nobody cares about ( unpointed toe for a half a second, etc)

  • ...pretty good i guess...

    /sarcasm

  • It looks like she walking in the street, up and down, back and forth, not on a 10 cm wide balance beam!

  • she really changed gymnastics. back in the 60s, a difficult moves on the beam was a backhandspring and in 76, nadia was doing aerials and acrobatic passages

  • It looks perfect O.O!

  • She's so delicate and perfect omg.

  • i wish i could do this too :-(

just kidding im 39 and male :-)

  • it's like poetry in motion ... isn't it ?

  • Perfect lines!!

  • simply wonderful<3

  • I agree she was amazing and so graceful, but it's really a big difference compared to today's routines.. They are more complicated and difficult, unlike hers, she really didn't take any risks. Try looking at Shawn's routines (more risky). BUT she's still wonderful to watch -3

  • @ChristinaMagma

You're missing the point, the reason this was a great routine was because she performed her routine like she was on a floor exercise, when this was on balance beam..

Even if it was simple to the eye and did not have a complicated routine of today's standards, no present gymnast would perform this exercise flawlessly.

In fact if the past gymnasts like Nadia would have not perfected these moves, then the present gymnasts could not perform complicated routine's..

  • @J3X3R

And if gymnasts like Nadia were able to perfect this, it's quite logical that they could perform the more complicated routine's.

When Nadia and other gymnasts got 10, they looked like it was easy for them, because they reached a limited score.

If the bar was higher, gymnasts like Nadia would be very capable of performing even better.

  • sembra una molla questa ragazza!!!

  • She's the best in the world

  • k utube lilium by kasane teto and google rainy mood and click on the first link listen to it why this is on mute. watch. pure awesomeness

  • her routine and execution are so FLUID, something that's rarely valued in the gymnastics community in recent decades. that's not to say that recent gymnastics is not artistic, merely that it has come to sacrifice elegance for athleticism.

  • Love how she presents her flic flacs

  • I dont think there has ever been a more beautiful beam routine ever. she was amazing.

  • Wow! :O

  • Cara, essas meninas do Pan de Guadalajara tem que comer muito arroz com feijão ainda. kkkk. Nadia era simplesmente perfeita.

  • my mother was a gymnast so they bought her tapes of an old gymnastics routines from the olympics, and on one of them a gurl got a perfect ten on beam :)

  • She has a slight bobble on 0:23. But other than that it was perfect!!!:)

  • Yep...I can't even balance that well when I'm pretending.

  • She's so light and beautiful. I wish beam routines still looked like this instead of all the clunky, though impressive, tumbling there is now.

  • @starlightrider Gosh yes I agree. The beam (and floor) routines of the past just... flows. Don't see that much these days.

  • What she did was very nice, but I saw most of her routine in Olga Korbut's 1972 routine. Honestly, though, I like both of them as my favorites. I know I wouldn't be that great if I did it.

  • WOW... Flawless!!! lol

  • Eleganza totale, unita a tecnica paurosa: superspettacolare!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love how balletic the leaps were in those days

  • i think she hacked gravity...

  • perfect.

  • srta perfecta... la mas grande

  • ★★★★★★★★★★

  • 10 ( 7 times). epic

  • I like it,but I have to admit, that for me it's a little too much arm waving and too less actual skills.

I know people complain about girl gymnasts not being artistic today, but I think since it's a sport where the main thing is doing acrobatic tricks,it's good today. If you want to see pure dance you shouldn't watch gymnastics.

Maybe I don't enjoy this as much because I'm too young to have experienced this sport in this way,but I still like it better nowadays. This is kinda boring to me, sorry.

  • beautiful! she makes it look so easy!

  • As far as I'm concerned, I watch gymnastics for beauty, and beauty is in the perfection of motion, not difficulty. I'd rather see this than a really difficult, sloppy routine. What's the point?

  • @spartyutube I politely disagree. Gymnastics is a sport, and the point of a sport is to continually push the athlete's body to greater heights. Coaching, equipment, and nutrition has improved, so the difficulty has been increased. In a world-class gymnast of today, I see the beauty in their routines. They have total body control in the air and on the ground. So what if they can't dance, they are not dancers. I think it's sexist that we expect female gymnasts to dance and males not.

  • Everything about this routine was perfect! The pacing, acrobatic moves, dance elements, etc. were all fluid. Not a single wobble or balance check. Awesome!

  • i would love to see one of today's gymnasts perform one of her routines

  • @peaceandlovefromava I'm pretty sure they could do it with ease...this is a gorgeous routine but a level 8 gymnast could perform these skills.

  • @PhenixJoe Yes, that's right, the level of dificulty has dramatically increased in gymnastics in the past decades, so the skills are relatively simple to perform. However, I do think that Nadia's ease of movement can't possibly be achieved, since she moved and dance with such fluidity, and that's really rare nowadays, when gymnasts are more like robots.

  • @TheDigitalFruit I completely agree. Maybe if they were able to spend more time polishing details of simpler skills, their routines would more closely resemble this.

  • @PhenixJoe Indeed. I'd rather see routines performed like this one.

  • @peaceandlovefromava have you seen any recent beam routines? they are a lot harder than ones in the 1970s. This was considered extraordinary back then, but gymnastics has become far more difficult (through improvements in technique and beam itself)

  • WOW! good works stunts! i moreover, makes them so easily ...!

  • this is sooo good. ö !

  • Not a single wobble! So elegant!

  • oh nadia i wish i can ever see u once live in my life. The world has failed to produce your substitute yet.

  • she so perfect !

  • The BEST gymnast who ever existed nd ever will!

  • She's a great gymnast, I just wish she'd focused more on her leaps.

    Everything else was flawless though.

  • She has such a lift in her movement. Nijinsky was said to have this....an incredible control of his abdomen. She has it-balon.

  • So light! So fluid! Long live the Queen!

  • god everytime i watch this i wish i was her

  • so amazingly fluent and graceful!! it doesn't even look real! i haven't seen such a beautiful routine like that, or skills performed so well!

  • I can't understand why they're putting age limits nowadays...she was 14 and now the limit is 16, I think!? She was so perfect and perfection is not a thing that gets developed with the years...

  • @nubesagrada There's something weird about a sport that disqualifies some of its top competitors because of their age.

  • Nadia Comaneci is easily the greatest gymnast in history. My father was a huge fan of hers when I was 5 years old & we watched her in 1976. When I come home after work, I watch her on these youtube clips just to relax. Nadia Comaneci FOREVER!!!!!!

  • Out of this world!!! she is from another planet!!

  • I want to see beautiful, graceful and perfect routines again! Nowadays it's just hard skills and silly arm moves on beam. I miss ARTISTIC gymnastics.

  • Such a graceful routine!!! LOVE HER!!

  • i just realized that bela koroyale (sorry about the spelling) was her coach, awesome dude, now he runs a camp in texas, well a couple years ago i was invited to his camp,i feel acomplished now. haha...im not a gymnast anymore but i wish i was....horrible mistake!

  • @metsdudenj Um... I think you had Nadia mixed up with Emilia Eberle. Emilia's first name is Gertrude (Hungarian) but the government made her compete with her middle name so she seemed Romanian. Nadia, however, was not Hungarian.

  • @oklahomatornadoes Nope. I am sure, because her father was Hungarian. Her original name was Ilona Kemenes, Her parents divorced when she was very young however.

  • @metsdudenj Hm... Interesting. I searched and only found German sites that said so. But then again, the German Wikipedia said it was "according to some source", which might be conflicting with others. Most of the English sources said that her mom was pregnant when she watched a movie in which the main character was called Nadya, and so she decided to name her Nadia. It's hard to believe which one is true. Maybe I should read one of her books or something. :p

  • @oklahomatornadoes I think we would have to find out if she speaks Hungarian, because Bela and Marta always spoke Hungarian with certain gymnasts. Unless her mother remarried, but I have a book from Hungary called the Spirit of Hungary which contains that info, and that book is over 25 yrs old so I dont think its fake info

  • @metsdudenj

Nadia is not Hungarian, she does not speak Hungarian and she never did. She is 100% Romanian and Nadia is her real name.

  • @asiteamadar Many sources including Bela say she is Hungarian.

  • @metsdudenj darling, just because u are hungarian, speak hungarian, dream she was hungarian or whatever, check the facts...she was born in Onesti - thats Moldova, not Transilvania(where most hungarian minority live); as a joke, she's more likely to be russian than hungarian!!!n the name of her parents...fat chance they were hungarian n also, if that was true, why she never admit it???? romanian n proud!!!

  • @metsdudenj

Right, I am also Hungarian, but the Romanian government made me Romanian so I won't be noted as Hungarian! lol

Nadia emigrated to the US where she had freedom of speech and could have easily mentioned that she had Hungarian blood.

Are you sure Hagi was not Hungarian too? lol

People like you are very deluded and need to accept the fact that not everyone is Hungarian.

Oh, and in a 100 years, everyone will be mixed up, nobody will care who's Hungarian, Romanian and so on.

  • a gazelle should be jealous of her grace and beauty. she is breathtaking

  • a perfect 10 for the routine!...a 5 for the leo...

  • @WHOletTHISdie Yes i agree Nastias 08 bean routine at the oympics was so near perfect it was crazy but u have to admit both gymnasts have that fluid grace and flexability and just calm steadiness that have set them apart...

  • I give her 9,999999999(9) because she's a human being and by definition that's just imperfect , though I give her 10 for being the best damn gymnast in the world ^_^

  • IN-CRE-DI-BI-LE.........e non so dire altro!!!!

  • the 20 people that clicked dislike ..suck

  • WHAT A FLUIDE MOVEMENT!!! incredible

  • @msms68 then don't watch it. Perfect routine.

  • she was also the first person ever to score a perfect 10 on uneven bars at the olympics!

  • I love her levers out of skills. They are so graceful and precise! It is also amazing how gymnastics has progressed since then. But it is wonderful to see perfect routines, which you never see these days. Although, we do need to keep progressing, because if we don't, where will we go? But anyways, Nadia is amazing.

  • this was boring

  • Does nadia even know how to fumble? Honestly, all her landings in this routine were perfect.

  • K below me I'm Not gonna even try to put your name. It's called a camera w/ flash.

  • At 0:03 it looks like her foot sparked. :P

    And she's really good!!!!

  • there is a 11 ?

  • I can't get enough of this video. Her routine is absolutely beautiful and flawless, and she makes it look so easy! I doubt I'd even be able to walk across a beam. I wish we could see more of this style today.

  • su rutina aburre no tiene nada de complicado!

  • @hiervamx dude!!! what were you expecting it was 1976 !!!!!!! that was waaaay too hard those days !!

  • Pure blood gymnast.

  • so smooth

  • I hate how now a days there are sooo many rules it really take the individuality out of it, the girls cant really show off the personallites casue there so many skills they HAVE to do it stinks, that was I think Nadia is such a legend (a side from being so amaming) you got to see a little bit of a funky side to her routines. there are WAY to many rules in gymnastics nowadays

  • Greeting from Greece Brothers :D

  • Greeting from Greece Brothers :D

  • so effortless...

  • Such lovely lift on her front aerial and side aerial, beautiful!!

  • In Soviet Russia, the gold medal wins you.

  • Her movements are so fluid. This is what I miss in modern gymnastics. Their movements are so "jerky", it's not beautiful to watch...

  • Comment removed

  • she iz a legend forever!

  • Perfection. All the girls waver a bit here and there - even the best recent ones like Shawn and Nastia.

But she doesn't wiggle or wobble once. She just flows through every part of her routine - flows like water, smooth and quiet. It's a joy to watch.

  • She's so graceful on the balance beam.

  • she was like the best gymnast ever!!

  • Magnificent

  • omg she looks soooo graceful, like a bird flying through the air.. so natural and at ease.......... I miss gymnastics so much :( lol

  • She had beautiful routines, and her comfort level on the beam is still awesome to watch, even today. Nastia Liukin comes really close to having that same easy comfort on the beam, but Nadia will always be the one who (at least in my lifetime) achieved it first.

  • for perfect fluidity and grace, well done nadia

  • its funny, i find nastia's mount so similar to nadias mount. amazing how things from the past still translate today.

  • No wonder I find the ongoing commonwealth games pathetic...Nadia Comaneci set the bar to impossible.

  • @deisedias22 Adorei a sua rima, ela super que combina com a audácia de menina !!

  • I know nothing of gymnastics yet when I watch this routine I am in awe of its beauty!

  • she is incredible ! im not a gymnast but she was FOURTEEN thats kind of my age!

  • perfeccionismo e precisão, excelente inspiração!

  • this was truly inspirational as a gymnast.

  • owhh i rmember 76 nadia wher are yuo now

im from kuwait city and i love yyyyyyyyyyy

  • What a boring routine

  • @ramptabs Can YOU do it AT ALL, let alone as beautifully as she did? I doubt it even without seeing you. Probably sprain your butt-muscles just with the mount.

  • @weedermann You are aware that people can form opinions without being experts on a subject right? I mean, I liked the routine, personally, but I don't think my ability (or lack thereof) to execute any gymnastic routine precludes me liking it. Put another way, "She is doing something you are unable to, therefore by default you must LOVE IT!" I mean, damn, the dude didn't say she sucked or anything, just that her routine, to him (or her) was "boring".

  • @AlternativeBaroque This "ramptabs" showed no RESPECT for her effort, for all of the work she put in to perform that routine. It annoys me to discover "armchair critics" so quick to slight what is beyond them.

  • @weedermann You can say something is boring without disrespecting someone, retard. He said the routine was boring, not that she was boring or that she sucked or that he could do better. What could he have said, in your opinion, that would convey his opinion without "disrespecting" the chick? That's a serious question. I mean, he has a right to his opinion, and you certainly have a right to disagree, but your expressed reasoning literally makes no sense.

  • @AlternativeBaroque Perhaps you defend this because YOU have no heart or talent. It is always those with nothing to show for themselves, who do not understand that they are viewing, that see a work as "boring". We have nothing more to talk of.

  • @weedermann Why the fuck are you being so defensive about this? I never said it was boring, so quit skimming and ignoring what is actually being said. Like it or not, perception is, well, subjective. I think football is boring. I don't have to play it to think so, and just because I think it is doesn't mean I have no respect for the players, or that, for some reason I haven't accomplished anything, myself. "We have nothing more to talk of." Get over yourself.

  • flawless

  • I just admire her calm not in your face performance. Pure Class!

  • top gymnasts are so focused on who has the best jumps and skills, it turns out choppy. nadia's is so graceful and elegant, and she doesn't pause before each skill too.

  • Nadia was amazing; there will never be another like her. Grace personified.

  • she makes it look so easy!!!!

  • I love how she makes you wait and anticipate the dismont :)

  • How tall was Nadia?

  • @iluvconverse25 she wasnt vry tall about areally tall 4 th grader so a small 5th grader

  • @iluvconverse25 I thinks he was about 4, 11

  • @iluvconverse25 I thinks she was about 4, 11

  • wow. it's so smooth flowing and looks so easy. not one mistake i didn't catch. nice dismount too.

  • No one does it with as much lightness as her today.

  • why do we have to push the limits so much in gymnastics these days... i want to see routines as perfect as this today since i wasn't there first time round! So beautiful and perfect!!!

  • @GymnasticsFreak321 because if we didn't push we wouldn't even be doing arials !

  • @GymnasticsFreak321 but I agree, they should only do routines they can do flawlessly, but as difficult as possible

  • Nastia has the same exercise as nadia to get in the beam...Nadia is amazing..

  • she was good in those times... now it looks simple.. andlike in slow motion..

The only diference is that she won like 5 times gold.. and now the gymns, only win once or twais... because the ridman now is madness to suport..

Now gymnastics are much more complicate, and exigent.. they'er pushing farther than before..

Looking behind it looks like slow motion, and so simple.. as a game.

  • OK check this out,,, her routines may have been ,, less difficult but,, i have not seen a gymnast perform any of these skills ,, so fluidley or so gracefullly and the way she walks on the beam is ,, soo not cautious but just PRETTY,, thats why she got a 10 not cause of the skills , but the way she moved!!!!!!!!

  • People say this is easy (its not) but she could do the harder stuff of today if she had been able to work on the new improved beam that has more padding.

  • amazing.....!

  • Still the best. Rock solid from beginning to end.

  • buenisimoo

  • So sweet and elegant!I adore Nadia!

  • I just got through watching Shawn and Nastia on beam, then I came over here to see the point of gymnastics. Nadia on beam was one of the most beautiful sights you can ever see. Her perfection and poise were mindblowing. She was a true ARTISTIC gymnast. When you take into account the era in which the gymnast competed, Nadia was the best to ever put on a leo.

  • the side aerial- immediate flip, not many gymnasts could do that even in todays day and age! just inspirational!!

  • PERFECTION!!!!!!!
