ich geh' mal davon aus, dass du deutsch kannst.... wenn du den satz hier oben in anfuehrungszeichen auf google suchst kommst du auf eine website auf welcher der originaltext sowie dessen uebersetzung zu finden sind. ich kann hier auf YT leider keinen link einfuegen.

Actually, the word "Kupite" means exactly that in Russian - "please buy". The song originated in the schtetls of eastern Russia/Ukraine/Poland (at the time). There is also a very popular version of it, translated into Russian (see some of myzeidi posts).

My half Polish-half Jewish grandfather was left by his Jewish girlfriend who emigrated to Argentina with her parents... Love story without an end. Did anyone have heard the version of Bente Kahan of this song? Bente is a Jewish singer, born in Norway and she lives in Wroclaw, Poland.

The Jewish immigrants to Buenos Aires in the 1880's, 1890's, 1900's, along with other ethnic minorities, contributed GREATLY to the development & evolution of el "Tango Argentino" with their tearful, heartfelt ballads, their happy klezmers and other E. European musical styles that they brought with them. They disproportionately contributed both in musicianship as well as in authoring lyrics & song of many of the greatest tangos ever written. Unfortunately, many do not know this today.

Thank you, Jurek46pink, for posting this melancholy Jewish tango. My beloved late grandmother was one of those immigrants, with her parents, to Argentina. She was an expert tango dancer and that is how she met her Lutheran German husband, in 1924, as a young lady, at a ball, where they BOTH danced the tango. They fell madly in love, He converted to Judaism to marry her and the rest, alas, is history.

The clients started to name to that girls "papirusas" and that word started to be used in many "Tangos". This is the origin of the transformation of the song "papirozen" in a Tango.

Beautiful !! Originally this song wasn't a "Tango". It was a simple yiddish song, very popular in the Jewish people in Europe before de WWII. But the word "Papirosen" (Cigarettes) gave the origin to the word "papirusa" that means "whore" in slang Spanish. In the first half of the XX century, in Buenos AIres, it was many Jewish whores brought from Europe by the "Mafia". That women used to ask for cigarettes to their clients saying " please...give me papirosen..." continued...

pronunciation with a spanish accent. The

lyrics are a bit different since she refers

to the hardships of her father and mother.

Most singers of this song refer the lyrics to

the hardships of a sister. Both versions are great. Thanks for sharing.
