  • Good job sir.Your video was helpful I gave you thumbs up.

  • I have a problem, can somebody help?

When he is creating the wooden posts on the track with the liner brush, if I were to do this my posts would disappear into the paint beneath as the brush picked up the paint I am painting on top of?

Is this just the traits of a thick layer of oil paint, and will reducing the amount of paint on the canvas allow me to line in details like the wooden posts without the liner brush picking up the colour from underneath?

  • @ChrizRockster A thin paint sticks to a thick paint. Thin it with paint thinner, pretty thin, maybe "almost ink like"... (The paint you are using to paint your posts) Though I am sure you have figured it out by now. Been almost a year!

  • the magic white is gesso?

  • @154simon154

Liquid White is what i'd call it?

  • wow this is amazing :) I have a question, can you apply the same techniques you use but with acrylic? I don't have any oil paints and was wondering if you could get the same picture using the acrylics...

Sorry if I have just said something completely stupid, I'm only GCSE level...

  • That was really great! I just wish to have seen more of the details on the bushes though. But awoesome and fast too, i like paintings like that :)

  • Great lesson in atmospheric perspective. Great little painting at the end, as well! Keep up the great work.

  • i am glade to ur work thanks.

  • i like it!

  • thanks, it helped alot... maybe working in black and gray tones is what I need. Very nice lesson in shading and perspective.

  • beautiful lesson

  • Great work Jack, Bill would be proud!

  • you mean bob? right? bob ross

  • no, i mean bill alexander. He taught jack kolber, and Bob ross.

  • ooow god! so beautiful!

  • Amazing! Simply amazing!

  • very nice painting made simple

  • using only two basic colours black & white and then creating something as amazing as this piece of work!I am very amazed, and I wish I could also do something half (may even be quarter) as good as this. What kind of thinner is it? and how long does it take to dry completely? have to use magic white? Thank you

  • its not that easy for all

  • Woah great talent and great imagination ;)

  • ..che meraviglia... barbara

  • this video makes it look so easy...

  • it is easy, but don't use too much liquid white on the background, and don't press too hard when you are adding highlights on top of the thick paint

  • nicejob

  • wow, that does look easy

  • What does he mean by Magic-white? is it simply just a coat of white on the canvas?

  • Magic White is a special oil based medium developed by Bill Alexander. Magic White gives us a tacky, yet not too slick surface to start wet on wet painting. Without it, we'd be stuck blending and mixing colors the old fashion way.

  • magic white is just liquid white

  • It's similiar to liquid white, but not the same. If you compare them side by side, you'll see the difference.

  • wow :o It looks so easy.

I am going to try it myself :D

  • Very nice! A lot like Bill Alexander's paintings! That's where I got my inspiration too! With his technigue, Wet on Wet, anyone can do it!

  • VEry nive work didn't know were he was going with it but was impressed.Good Job mate.

  • Very interesting demo! It's neat to see a painting done with only black and white. Is Magic White similar to Bob Ross's Liquid White?

  • what exactly is magic white?

  • It's liquid acrylic white

  • Magic White is not an acrylic paint. It's an oil based paint. It is used to prepare a canvas for wet on wet oil painting, and it's sold by Alexander Art.

  • Great painting! USed it as a lesson :D

  • cool! what's magic white?

  • hi Magic White is a base coat that allows you to blend colors on the canvas. And also to thin paint when applying highlights. And is a must for the wet on wet technique ..check out my website to read more thanks Jack

  • He made that look really easy.

  • excelent...tanks....

  • awesome man.

  • hope i could paint that well.. @_@

  • you can just go to my website order my show and your are on your way Thanks Jack

  • That looks so great O.O

  • Excellent.

  • Thats pretty incredible for under 9 minutes

  • Thank you. The actual show is 28 minutes long from my 13 show tv series from beginning to end..More to come.

  • Mr. kolber recently i've expressed much interest in learning how to paint with oils. My problem however is not in the painting, but rather in the prep. I bought a large canvas. On the label it says it has been triple primed with gesso. Does this mean I can start painting right away? Also I feel slightly confused about how one would do a wash

  • Triple primed with gesso means you can paint on it and the paint won't be absorbed. A wash just means to thin out your paint with thinner to your desired level before using it.
